Apple's making it especially easy to pass on upgrading this year. Even if every rumor came true, there's nothing about the upcoming model that appeals. I've enjoyed each new iPhone since the original, but the thrill is gone. Tired of buggy iOS issues, especially when Apple is capable of far better. I'll let others fatten Apple's bottom line.

Let's be real :)

Just about everyone here on this forum will watch the Keynote that Tuesday, live or afterwards, watch highlights of it, decline to purchase it the following Wednesday (too similar to the 6S, the 6 they own still works great, etc), start to think about how great it is on Thursday, and end up pre-ordering it on Friday.

I've seen this pattern on this Forums. The 7 will be sold-out and many on this forum will have it in hand 2 weeks after it's announced.

It's just funny to me reading these posts saying they won't purchase it without yet having seen the actual product's presentation and it's features, just molds and cases.

Especially funny because we all know what's going to end up happening in the end. ;)
Yea those keynotes are killers they get me every time

What thrill? I do enjoy the keynotes, but thrill? I look forward to seeing what the iPhone 7 really is, not what everyone assumes it's not.

OP, you could be overestimating the impact of this forum which probably only makes up less than 1% of actual consumers and mostly fanatics. Not the general population of iPhone consumers. I think this year's iPhone 7 will sell enough but perhaps not what YOU might think it sells if you are judging it by this forum.

Actually its far less than that considering how many millions are sold. More closely like 0.000002% :D

I'll buy it. I like what I read so far. I like long lasting designs.

To be considered a success by this forum, the numbers should equal or better the 6s launch, which equalled or bettered the 6 launch, which equalled or bettered....

I won't be :p unless there is a 4 inch model with a 3.5mm port :D

Only reason I have a 6 is because I changed out cellphone providers, because they do a whole home internet, cable tv, voip home phone package that saved me some yen on the monthly bills.. If I didn't do this, wife and I would still be on an older model.

Apples only forced upgrade I took the bait on was the one that offered tethering and 4g. 4 iirc. This was a change to model feature I said I just have to have, and have it now. Enough to pay extra to break contract on the phones it replaced.

Nothing about the 7 says to me " you know you want to break/redo contract with not enough time worked off the current phone to not make it cost money".

Granted I think my phone is a leash. Don't really "want" it for a starters so following the bleeding edge not my thing. barring a phone call I could put that 6 on my desk at 1700 and may not see it again till 0600 the next day. Its an accessory I really look for functionality from. 6 is doing that functionality fine. Its a phone...it takes calls and my im of choice (Line) works just fine. All I need really. Edit: plus the tethering ofc, once setup I a can be on my ipad mini way more often tbh).

One rumored feature that might convince me to upgrade if it turns out to be real is waterproofing.

Accidents happen, especially around kids.

There is a sucker born every minute, so you dont have to look far to find one.

I decamped after the 5S and I passed on the 6 and 6S. The value just wasnt there for me and Samsung was offering great product at decent prices - which they have stopped doing BTW. At the moment I have an SE issued by work.

For me, buying the new Iphone would depends purely on the improvements. At this point smartphones are fairly mature and fairly good even the cheap ones. So new device (with inevitable price jack) had better have something significantly new and valuable to offer.

- Removing the headphone jack, would be new, but not valuable. More like killing value.@
- Keeping to 4.7" screen at this form factor/device size would not be good enough any more. They need to up their game there.
- OLED screen? Yeah - long overdue. That would be useful and valuable.

We'll see what they do....

I tend to wait for the 's' release, and I think the 7 might be skipped, because most people just invested in the 6 or 6s, and have a 2 year contract. And another reason might be that the rumors state the 7 is the same design while 8 is a redesign.

Or other people have different value systems than you, with different wants, and requirements. There seems to be a lot of "suckers" by your definition judging by the tens of millions who recently bought. And that's without oled.

Not to sound judgmental, but there are without a doubt a lot of suckers who would always buy the latest model of anything even if the only difference is it comes in a new colour. Some people are just wired that way, but that's fine, their spending helps the economy!

Really hope that it's not just a "transition" phone & that it's going to be an exciting one. Getting it anyway.. And I think that most of the ppl saying they'll skip it won't

I have the iPhone 6 Plus and skipped the 's' model as it didn't bring enough new to the table to warrant the cost. I buy sim free at full Retail price.

If the iPhone 7 does not ✔️ my wants and needs boxes then I'll be considering taking some time away from iPhones and possibly look to the Samsung Galaxy s7 edge.

I almost purchased the 6s Plus last year as an upgrade from my 6--tuition and other costs stopped me from doing so however. That $1000 for my phone, case, and screen protector was a bit too much for me since I buy at full retail as well. I'm thinking that I'll buy a 6s Plus on Swappa right now, then wait until the fall and if the 7 Plus is good enough, upgrade to that and sell/trade in my 6 and 6s Plus to recoup the cost. If the 7 doesn't impress me and I get the 6s Plus, I'll have a 6s Plus that will hold me over easily until next year when I'll get the major redesigned 2017 iPhone.

Either way, I'm going to get a new phone this year, whether it be the 6s Plus or 7 Plus.

I'm thinking more and more by the day that I will either hold
Onto the phones I have ... iPhone se, 6s and 6s Plus or I will pay close attention to the Note 7 or Galaxy s8 when it comes out ...

You have an SE, 6s, and 6s+?

I'm curious, what do you do with three different phones with basically the same specs? I have three cases for my phone (none costing more than $15) and sometimes I feel Like that's unnecessarily extravagant! LOL.

I'll be using my yearly iPhone upgrade with Verizon to get the 7. Then I'll do it again next year. I like new phones lol. My 6s plus has been a great phone though.

I can tell you that if we don't see anything beyond what "leaks" and rumors we have seen, I am 100% out on this one for the first time ever (and my first time saying that at this point in the game).

Might they have tricks up their sleeve? Sure. But I doubt it based on years and years of following these rumors.

I'm thinking Apple has some surprises, but we won't really for sure until the keynote.
