So much negativity in here. The new iPhones (both 12 and pro) look like beautiful devices. The cameras on the pro series look absolutely incredible. Computing has always been about incremental upgrades. Expecting a brand new "iPhone" experience akin to 2007 is just silly, IMO.

Already put my approval in for an iPhone 12 pro in pacific blue. Can't wait to take the camera out for a long fall hike.

I wish the upgrade wasn't at 8am EST, but I'll survive.

Also, the blue in the iPhone 12 is absolutely stunning. I can see why all the product marketing is focused on that particular color. Just gorgeous. I wish the pro was that blue, but I'm a fan of the more industrial blue they chose as well.
People have the right to be as negative as you are positive about the New Blue iPhone. You call these negative people silly, at the same time you are being negative towards them, does the term silly apply to you then?

Sure, I'm okay being silly. 😆 I meant no offense, I don't really understand the disappointment, I guess. It's the same story every year since the iPhone was released.

I think the magsafe addition is a cool bit of engineering and user experience. I carry around a slim wallet, and I can't wait to see some third party options that get released.

But please go on being negative. I don't want to spoil anyone's rain on the parade.

There was no excitement at all. This is the new iPhone, and its slightly bigger than the old one, with squared edge that we offered years ago, and we have blue. Oh, and there is a clip on card for the back that is currently already made by other companies on clearance at TJ maxx.

yep, better larger hardened screen. Brand new state-of-the-art Qualcomm X60 5G chipset. LIDAR laser range finder camera system ... yawn.... what's to get excited about? Ground breaking A14 5 nanometer (nm) Bionic chipset..smaller, faster, less power draw translating to longer batter life. Best chip technology in the world..China can't produce them yet and is blocked from buying them... No excitement here.
Best phone invented to date by anyone...Yep, going back to sleep now.

the new home pod mini will sell like hot cakes
I disagree. If the mini was $50 they would, but not at $100 when other similar devices in that category can do more things for cheaper. BTW can the mini even sync w an appletv to work as a speaker?

If the notch exists and the lightning port is still a thing next year ... I will be mad but continue to buy Apple products cause I'm so ****ing locked in to the ecosystem it is pointless anymore.

to who? to everyone that has wanted a smart speaker but doesn't have one yet? ten people?

Apple is YEARS late to the table with this. Amazon was the true inventor here, and blew Apple with it's pants down.

How else are you supposed to blow someone? With their pants up?? Confused. Also. Can we talk about it’s vs. its?

- Must buy the most ginormous phone to get the best camera
- Ridiculous “removing waste” excuse to cut accessories and raise margins yet again (why not make it optional if waste is their true motivation?)
- 5G is their headline feature (which probably 0.01% of users actually need)
- No dual Face/Touch ID in the middle of a pandemic is the most laughable omission I’ve ever seen

Glad I skipped the Keynote. What a joke.

Yes and since the phone still has a lightning port, people will ignore the new cable and this new included cord will be just another piece of e-waste.

Nice one Apple, you just created MORE waste.

Such a bummer release, I don't care about the cables enough for it to be a deal breaker, but the price is too high so I'm not upgrading on principle.

Hoping Apple loses market share so they adjust their pricing.

I preordered the same phone. Good taste. LOL!

I told myself I would be happy to spend my money to upgrade from my 11 Pro if the 12 had the iPhone 4 form factor. In hindsight, be careful what you wish for. The thought of it was definitely more appealing than actually seeing it. When the 2020 iPhone SE came out, people were saying the top & bottom bezels looked outdated.

iPhone SE 2nd gen. top & bottom bezels: "I want look outdated in 2020. 👴🏼"
iPhone 12's flat edged design: "hold my beer. 🍺"

It definitely looks better on the iPad &, in my opinion, rounded aluminum/stainless steel has much sexier appeal than a flat edge.

I will admit, the MagSafe resurrection is much appreciated. Aside from my 2015 MacBook Pro's ability to withstand the test of time with continued software support & smooth running, the MagSafe is most appreciative physical feature. 🧲💕

Well, few things kinda interest me; The cameras on the 12 pro max, the size of the 12 pro max, the A14 chip, battery life and the magnetic charger.
So, i suppose the 12 Pro Max is the one i would choose. In blue or silver.
But i am not really super psyched for it really. But if i was to get one, thats the only one worth getting for me.

The cameras and processor are astounding.

Sorry if you wanted a spaceship option to take you to the moon or something, but these are smartphones.

No plug
No ear buds
smaller packaging
cheaper shipping
less pieces to manufacturer = Apple saving money but not the consumer. Shame on them.

On the flip side

XDR OLED display for all iPhone 12 models instead of just Pros
Identical 5G radio for all iPhone 12 models
Identical Magsafe charging back for all iPhone 12 models
Cheaper EarPods and USB-C brick if you need one

The improvement for “cheaper” iPhone 12 and Mini is so massive it’s closer than ever to the Pro models. I’d say it’s a fair trade-off.

I might sound like Timmy. But he’s not wrong, I have a bunch of iPhone chargers, cables along with some Beats in and on-ear headphones in the house and office. So it really isn’t a problem for me.

No offence taken.

That was surprisingly disappointing. Not very exciting phones but routine upgrades without any wow feature at all. Thats surprising. The 12 Pro is barely differentiated from the 12. Homepod Mini looks interesting - but that is a pretty crowded market.

LIDAR is the thing that most convinces me apple has lost their way. Its one of those additions Steve would have been proud NOT to release. Its an addition that adds nothing to the users and for which Apple has no purpose. Apple doesn’t release a feature list and say developers please make it cool. They usually have the killer app for their hardware. But here they are just releasing marketing check marks.
