I think that’s a good point. I do wonder what benefits LiDAR will have for the camera.

I think in retail, construction and housing businesses LiDAR + AR could really be a game changer.

But you’re right, Apple should have made an app that demonstrates its use case, even if they partnered with other companies to do it.
 
If you have the iPhone 11's there is NO need for you to get the iPhone 12. Wait another year. I'm very sure you are not saying how slow 4G LTE is.

I tend to think that the lidar scanner will be a necessity for a future device such as Apple Glass. There seems to be no other reason to even have like you said.

some observations:
. my 11promax 256GB was 1249, 12promax 256GB is 1199 - wow
. Apple screwed up badly on the 12 pricing, they should advertise it as 729 with an instant discount of $30 for ATT and VZ.
. I love the camera features on the ProMax
. I love the smart data on 5G (throttling back to LTE)

I'm going to keep my 11 Pro Max at least til iPhone 13 release

What’s to buy into? it’s an annual iPhone update. It’s what Apple does every year. Evolutionary upgrades to hardware and software. A 5nm process processor is actually a huge deal and the rollout of 5G is not so big a deal but both are more than ‘minimum’.

It sounded like it actually plays a pretty big role in making picture taking, something you’ll do every day, way better.

Between getting EarPods and charging brick in the box, OR getting many features and closing in the gap between the 12 and its Pro models?

I’d pick the latter anyday. I don’t need another EarPods or wall charger. It’s literally untouched everytime I get a new phone or iPad, I even forget that it’s there. But I could use a nice OLED display and fast 5G in a standard iPhone 12.
 
They look beautiful but my list for Day 1 Apple producers has been lost as they continue to be lazy. No 120hz no charger no buds , still lightning cable ? Smaller battery... and disappointing benchmarks for the a14 bionic I’ll wait a bit. 5g + smaller battery never equals anything positive .
 
Waste of time to follow this release. It's especially galling how the rest of the world pays usually more than the US for a phone that has a gimped version of the 5G that's supposed to be the headline feature.

Apple and Tim Cook need to see some disappointing sales numbers soon before they get their game back I think...

I see no reason to upgrade really from my X ... why for out 1k$ for what? faster cpu/gpu... no sense at all for everyday life.

apple is moving back to old design and magsafe and we are buying it :)

tim cook said, same pricing as before, but now without headphones and no charger so we have to spend extra...  makes more money in the end...
 
next update will be no notch and fingerprint under screen...

people will once again upgrade their 12pro and buy new design :)

100%. I’m completely happy with my 11! I waited years with my old SE and it paid off in March when I upgraded. The speed and camera quality jump were huge! The camera on the 12 pro max looks like it could be noticeable, but the 11 is so good and still new to me. I really don’t care about 5G yet. So, I’m happy the update was kinda boring with just some nice improvements. If you are on an 8 or lower, the 12 will be a great improvement. It doesn’t have to be exciting be a great product.

My only complaint would be only be the boring presenters! They need to learn how to bring energy from YouTubers like Piper Reese or something!
 
Amazing, Incredible, Awesome, Really Great - the iP is now capable of 5G, one year after Huawei and Samsung. Glad I didn‘t waste my time watching this.
USB-C, TouchId embedded into the display and a notchless design and even then I couldn‘t tell you if I would spend $1K for something I already have. At the moment Apple has just another phone to offer.

😂Freaking notch! I always read comments from ppl who say they don’t notice it. I knew I wouldn’t get used to that. I’d rather have a small bezel! It’s still an eyesore and a ridiculous concept IMO on an otherwise-brilliant device. It just seems ludicrous to brag about the screen size when you have a notch and rounded corners included as part of that size and obstructing video. Why not talk about how the phone can play AC3 5.1 files too (even though the phone only has 2 speakers to play them back through)? 😂

I miss them, too. iPhone 12 is really just the iPhone 4 in bigger. Mind you, loved that design. Was my first iPhone. But today Apple wants to sell it as innovation?

So you're literally asking for old stuff that use to be in the phone but complaining the phone has the same old stuff. They can put the in, then version 2 of you would complain about not edge to edge screen. People just need to not buy products if it doesn't fit their needs

Touch ID on the side, a smaller notch, better battery life, Promotion, and USB-C connection are old things the iPhone used to have? Where can I buy that iPhone? I'll take it today!!!
