I tried to watch the keynote and I hated it and turned it off. So cringey, salesy, cheesy and amateurish. It was a joke, like a two bit sales presentation that was painful and dull to watch. "You're going to love it" No, apple. I'm not.

Wow, lets get excited about a watch that tells you where you ran. No, lets not. apple has lost the plot, up it's own a hole.
no it wasn't, it was the same formula as almost every Apple event. you're just being pissy and hating on Apple. the new normal for MR

Wait... why is it called the A10 Fusion processor? Why not just the A10?
This is why...

I'm slightly annoyed that the new and greatest features are only on the larger device, they just took the easy route there haven't they?

But I'm more annoyed about the lack of updates to the SE line. I was really hoping to update the aging 5s this year, but it seems either you need to go for the pancake form factor or stick to a two year hold hardware - heck I didn't buy the SE because it had 10 month old hardware, no way I'm gonna drop 500$ for it now.

You seem to be one of those naive people who accept only things as new and innovative if they look different on the outside. Who cares whether the new iPhone or Watch look similar to the last version dude? Is a new look what defines progress in your eyes? I can only shake my head.

Hey he is not alone. When it comes to phones looks matter and they matter a lot. In all honesty I couldn't care less if Apple has fastest phone in the world. Why? Because it really doesn't matter that much with mobile apps. I'm not color grading or editing a film with my iPhone. I really don't play mobile games that much so why would I bother with "the fastest phone in the world". I want to see and feel the innovation. Anyway, all the Apple's "innovations" are already more or less present in Android phones so I'm not either impressed by iPhones "inner beauty". However, when it comes to computers its different story...

Cook is terrible. Just plain awful boring. Try to pretend you are excited, please!
With respect to Tim, being contrived is worse than being boring. Have you ever seen a 'boring' person get all excited on stage? It's a bit scary...

Note: This is just an example... This isn't about politics. She is not the most engaging speaker, like the current occupant of the position that she is seeking. I don't agree with either of them, but I'm making the point about watching a person, generally not known for their dynamic speechmaking ability trying to seem that way. To be blunt, I don't like her opponent either. And yes, there is a reason I didn't push the video button and put the URL in there. Hopefully those that are looking at the 250 posts in this forum will just gloss over this and move to the next one.

That's exactly what I did. Moved back into building my own gaming PC. Cheaper, and more powerful. Simple as that. After looking at rumors of the new MacBook Pro, the touch bar reminded me of the 2014 Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon, which was an utter disaster in my opinion. Lack of hardware updates to the Mac made me think they have been too focused on Apple Watch and iPhone. Seriously, I now regret saying that Mac's were better than PCs several years ago.
Microsoft has made a ton of progress. Now the differences are more stylistic. I prefer Macs (although gutting iPhoto and a lack of video library management continues to be a bother), but the PCs I use never crash. Its just a memory now. A bad one, but still just a memory. My brother called asking what I thought about switching from Mac to PC, and I was pretty neutral which a few years ago I would have said no way. Microsoft has been doing solid work.

Engadget is reporting the hepatic home button feels weird, kinda backing up the observations from Verge:

"Man, that new Home button is weird. iPhone newcomers won't have any trouble adapting to the change, but it feels almost jarring to someone who has used iPhones pretty regularly since the 4's launch in 2010. It works like force-pressing one of Apple's new Macbook trackpads, but it doesn't really feel like it -- you'll feel a blip from the phone's Taptic Engine instead of feeling the button depress like you're using a 3D Touch gesture on the screen."

https://www.engadget.com/2016/09/07/iphone-7-and-7-plus-hands-on-preview/

Confirming my worst fears about screwing up a huge reliable perfect feeling interface element for...what purpose?

Is there a functional reason for the change to the home button? Does going from an actual click to a fake click imitated by the Taptic Engine provide something we didn't already have?

I wish the keynote was 5 minutes. The start was so disjointed and awkward.

totally agrees. Its like the presentation was done by 10 year olds. Presentation skills atleast the basics they need to work on for these kinda events. And TC please improve your vocabulary, the best ever, greatest, smartest, using these words repeatedly wont make the product one

I agree wireless is the future, but don't think Apple is the company of the future.

Siri doesn't compare with google now, Samsungs all have OLEDs, rumors are that the next iphone will adopt some sort of edge to edge tech (something samsung did two years ago), iphones don't have a file system - god forbid you want to move a movie on your phone, rumors are Apple will adopt iris scanning (samsung did it), and Iphone 7 form factor is outdated (most companies have smaller benzels to not have a ridiculously foot print.) And then there is the whole wireless charging thing, which many companies adopted Qi many moons ago.

Most people are disappointed today and for good reason, it really seems that this is an iphone 6SE, and not an Iphone 7. There wasn't any oo la la moments, and the wow factor was minimal. I do like the dual lens though, but the processor updates are good. But are you really that excited about haptic feedback, taptic home button, and speaker? Is that worth the hassle of doggles galor?

If Apple is the company of the future, I guess we can expect rose gold Apple TVs, and more bands!

OLED remains over rated - however you might have missed Apple introduced something no mobile phone has - a color management system so if they do get OLED they will be the only ones doing it right with accurate color depiction.

Of course they have a file system. What you want is a user accessible file system. There are solutions for the 0.1% who need that. I move movies on my phone all the time....

Iris scanning sucks and Samsung did it crappy.

Wireless charging is...so wasteful powerwise. I dont know what the fascination is. Either you lay your phone down on a big wireless pad and it charges or you plug it in to a cord you can reposition and even hold in your hand while it charges. Wireless charging sounds cool but is a step backwards in actual use for the majority of devices (makes sense for a watch you never use except when on hand).

I think the new home button will likely be a step backwards. Lots of things to complain about. But if you want all these mostly useless and poorly done features in a phone - just buy the Android. They are great phones. You think Apple is behind in a race they are not running. They are doing something different. I don't necessarily like it but when your complaints amount to - make your phone a Samsung - then the answer is - buy a Samsung.

SHAME on APPLE; Innovations? I have been a die hard apple user from the earliest devices. The last few years Apple OS and standard apps are bug ridden and fail the apple community. Innovations? what a joke; today's presentations was embarrassing...been rehearsed. Real-time collaboration AWESOME; What a joke of a demo. This has been available for 10 years as an industry collaboration standard. It took a few years by Apple even to sync iBooks with non-iTunes books e.g. PDFs. Much less Apple Continuity (Sync across all devices; laden with bugs and data corruption) Apple is so full of BS. They backed up the bus on old technology and tried to put lipstick on its lack of innovation. For those of you BLOWN away by hardware specs; if there isn't a software value provided then what does it matter. The Apple Apps and OS's are static for over 6+ years. I have to admit; I am pursuing moving back to Microsoft hardware and software; the past years they are blowing Apple away....Tim is focused on politics and his sexuality (who gives a S%^) and not running an innovative company. And the absolute joke of entertainers and closing artist. Shame on all the apple leadership! Tim has to go and all the old diehards collecting a massive check for no reason!

Do yourself (and us) a favor by moving over to Android. Seriously - just do it

Disappointed they're only extending the Apple iPhone Upgrade program to China and the UK. (The UK because of Jony, China because it's one of the biggest markets and their sales are down).
I really think that's going to make a huge difference for Apple's sales around the world - as most of us are victims to the damn currency exchanges, paying a lot more for our Apple devices - a monthly fee is a lot easier to swallow than the huge lump sums we pay now. (and no hassle about selling your old phone each year)

Name one that doesn't have a headphone jack.

My 15 years old Nokia. It also came with stupid adapter so I could connect headphones with 3.5 mm jack.

Edit: Sorry, it was about Android... You win.

Lots of negativity in this thread.
Do I stand alone in being impressed with the innovations and upgrades within the Apple watch and iPhone?

Nothing to scream from the rooftops, yet pleasant refinements and improvements to both products overall.

I thought the update was pretty solid. If I didn't already have a 6S I would most likely get the 7 and enjoy it. I tend to upgrade my phones about every 4 years though so the next phone I buy will be the 8 most likely (unless my 6S fails prematurely).
