incremental innovation is what it is... the disruptive or radical days are gone.... shareholders demand growth but not at the risk of their 401ks or institutional investments.

Until someone comes along and disrupts this business (5G ain't it folks), there is no motivation to risk steady growth.

All the tech aside. Tim Cook stated in January he’d be seeking to protect against currency swings and create price parity around the world. Then he ****ed the U.K. again. Not only did we not get an adjustment down. The phones are more expensive in gbp than dollars. That $699 iPhone is £749 here. Despite the pound being worth more than a single dollar. It’s $230 more to buy a base model iPhone in be up and it goes up to $300+

This is on the heels of an abysmal performance for the iPhone in the U.K. whomever decided he pricing strategy was out of their god damn mind.

I really enjoyed the keynote, but I try not to listen to the exhausting noise made by 100s of twitter accounts / youtubers / etc. that treat rumors as facts so that could explain it. I was almost praying when I heard multiple people “confirmed” bilateral wireless charging... that technology is nowhere near to perfect, neither for its usage in phones nor for the planet (are we really, really, really going to jump in the inefficiency train for charging our daily devices in the middle of a climate crisis? )

This new iteration for the iPhone was logical and elegant, it respects the original form factor and somehow manages to wider the Standard vs Premium categories with the new camera array, very elegant and discrete colors in the Pro compared with the “fun” and cheaper iPhone 11.

I expected nothing for the Apple Watch, so the series 5 with an OLED capable of jumping from 1Hz to 60Hz with ease was a nice and unexpected surprise along with the new materials and the AW Studio. Manages to give the name Series 5 a reason while not forcing Series 4 owners like myself to upgrade. Btw, I don’t know if it’s the case in the USA, but here in Europe the prices for the Apple Watch bands seem to have dropped 10€ (59€ to 49€). At the same time, prices for the iPad 10.2 and Apple Watch have risen.

PS.: 1 year of appletv+ with the purchase of some new Apple devices is HUGE.

Don't pan to the crowd if you play fake clap recordings as you can see against the glow of laptop screens that they're not clapping.

5G should not be a priority imo as implementing cutting edge technology that no one can use, is kind of useless. The real problem is the base 64gb

And in greece, and the EU in general it is the same thing. The biggest joke is that 699$ for an average american is a lot less than 750euro for a greek...

A phone without bump, which has a grip, even without case.
A phone that fits in your pocket and is cheap, aka a successor to the SE, something like a scaled down XR.
A watch that only needs to be recharged every other day. And/or a watch that's significantly thinner.
How about a watch that actually looks like a classic round watch as opposed to a an iphone mini on your wrist?

If Apple would make the 11 screen a little higher def, and made the base model 128gb with the same 699$ price, they would not know what to do with all the money they would get. They would not be able to make them fast enough.

Aside from lower price points with smart phones, what else are consumers ‘asking’ for that you’re inferring should be innovative?

4k screen. Promotion. Pencil. Usb c. Projector. 5g. Full screen. Touch ID. 3D scanner.

All talk on AR. Still no easy way to view videos in 4K besides on Mac or pc. Or a thumb drive. I imagine the vast majority of iPhone users have never seen iPhone videos in 4K.

The watch looks elegant imo, and apple doesn't really want the watch to blend in, they want to make a statement, that whomever wears it is rich.

Yeah, round seems more grown up. I mean, I used to rock a square calculator watch when I was a kid. Except it didn't cost a thousand bucks. More like $25 ;)

I can't get over the back of this phone. The centered Apple logo, the camera bump inside another bump...

It just reminds me of this.

Super underwhelming event but I was hoping it would be. Only a fool would think that the iPhone 11 or Apple Watch Series 5 was going to be a game changer. The iPhone 12 in 2020 is the one Apple will wow us with. The only good thing about this event is that all previous iPhones and Watches will see a price drop in Craigslist, Bestbuy, or what ever other store that carries them.

Ahh **** Apple still won't make a phone I'd buy, I begrudgingly settled for a 5 series as that was closest to an iPhone at the time of needing a new one, these are all a joke. No wonder there's massive talent exodus from the company it's evident on this release. Why not just listen to customers?

Still looking for a bundle for Apple services.. News.Music,tv+, & surprisingly Arcade looked better than thought!!!

On fence about 11pro upgrade from XsMax but did pre-order Series 5 watch had me with 18hr battery life!!!!

Look again.
  • Node Mode.
  • WiFi 6.
  • Better battery life.
  • Better CPU + GPU that enable a new range of apps.
That's just 4 things you don't have now. But if what you have now serves your needs, that's great. But we shouldn't downplay the new release as having "nothing new", because that's false.
Do you think 4 things other phones already had for 2 years are worth $1.200?
No wonder they keep making ugly phones without innovation for this prices, people buy them anyway.

So the real question is what the heck is Apple doing with all those employees? I thought they were smart? Where's the innovation?
Probably on the software side. We like to think of Apple as a hardware company, but really it is their software that is amazing.

My suspicion is that a lot of the hardware did not have everything 100% in sync with the software and was axed at the last minute (tiles, AirPods charging, etc.). I would rather they concentrate on putting out a smooth OS that runs the hardware well then put out buggy as hell products that take several updates to get working properly.

Did Tim Apple, I mean Tim Cook, start out by saying that he's excited and that "this is the most advanced iPhone we've ever built?" Just want to make sure that it isn't less advanced than the last one. ;)

That’s fairly comprehensive list, most of which I agree with. Especially with Promotion and the Apple Pencil. My feeling is Innovation will probably be like you said with AR, and including the Apple glasses in the future.

An iPhone. The same ergonomics as the first one I purchased in 2008. The 5 series was clunky but *almost* the same, none have been comparible, 4S was the best. Too many apple paper/environmental weights.

By innovation only?

I think they forgot the innovation part. New/more camera sensors aren't exactly what consumers are asking for...

what r costumers asking bro? I wanted more camera sensors in front cam 2 take better selfies and bigger speakers. Also an illuminated logo would be a plus. What else u wanna c 2day?

I for one would like to have seen...
  • USB C
  • Pencil Support
  • Removing that hideous notch
  • Perhaps a "Dex" type environment
basically, not every is taking selfies and pictures to this degree with a camera. I see nothing wrong with the photo quality of the pictures my XS Max take now...
