Count me spectacularly uninterested in all of I this. I haven’t even watched the keynote and have no plans to do so. I think it was the last millenium when I last did that.

Apple Credit Card
I’m very uneasy about this - Tim Cook always takes the moral high ground but is offering people a way to get into debt moral? All I can think is that Apple must be counting on selling a lot less iPhones in the next few years than before to justify this.

Games Arcade
We don’t know much about this but I presume that the pricing is going to take advantage of apple not needing to pay itself 30%.

Apple News+
I’m in the UK so I can’t try this out. It seems a bit of beta at the moment though from what I’ve read. See above re. the 30% comment.

Apple TV+
I guess... I don’t know, I just can’t bring myself to get excited about this.

Oh well, bring on WWDC.

The future of the cashless economy with Apple Pay, this Apple card seems promising.

Steve Jobs was a music lover and didn't like the gadgets available... the iPod & iTunes were created. Said he cracked TV, meant ways of disrupting that industry... NOT creating content.

The "2019 Apple" joins the establishment.

The 2nd Quarter is ending, back to reality.

But, but, we're developing "behind-the curve" services, hoping they will be new, steady revenue streams... 'till the iPhone demand stabilizes.

We are basically dealing with two different apps...

Apple TV App = Apple Original content with all in one streaming with other sources. Hoping for a Game of Thrones hit based on the top notch movie producers of Spielberg, Abrams, etc...

iTunes App = for buys and rentals that are still available for consistent daily/monthly revenue.

Apple messed the opportunity to kill Netflix by not making iTunes App all you can eat for $19.99/mo. I would have loved to see Netflix sweat. However, they are laughing for now.

I just looked at “News+” and it’s basically a bunch of cheap tabloids. Bright colors with no content.
The internet is packed with free and diverse information.
Apple is trying to save the print industry, just like they did with the music industry.
But they are behind by about a decade and missing the point of the internet.

It’s just sad how Timmy Apples is ruining Steve’s legacy.

The iTunes app where you have the whole store to stream shows and movies for one monthly fee is a fantasy. Amazon has such a store. Microsoft has such a store. And others. None of them are allowed to do anything but rent and sell.

There is no library to stream all you can eat for any of them. The sellers would never allow it.

Hey Siri,
What's A computer?
A PC.

What are Apple latest innovations?
Animojis, Memojis, Watch Bands, 10 year-old design iMacs, a new News service, a TV+ with less than a 1/4 content of Netflix and an Apple credit card so you can buy all the best ever, freaking powerful amazing Apple products

Apple Cannot innovate anymore, my ass!

Pathetic

To effectively summarize the commentary:

I don't really care about Apple announced = Apple had a horrible event is now doomed

Yeah it’s almost like no two humans are alike and they have a new person running the company now. Funny how that works, isn’t it?

...still haven’t gotten over the death of the last guy, I see...

Aye, because “the last guy” was a product guy.

The “last guy” had a perfectionist streak.

The “last guy” (in the main) didn’t ship junk.

The “last guy” didn’t hire a head of the worst UK tech store to oversee Apple retail (John Browett of PC World, who even though he was let go, a lot of his policies remain) to the extent that Apple store staff now sound and act like PC World staff now.

The “last guy” didn’t ship products with inherent manufacturing flaws which he refused to recognise just days outside the one year warranty; iPhone 6 touch IC disease, iPhone 7 audio IC disease (which they DID recognise as a manufacturing fault and replace out of warranty devices for free last year for little over a month before sweeping it under the rug), iPad Pro 10.5 white spots on the screen above the button. That’s just three off the top of my head.

The “current guy” is an inventory guy, as shown by the fact he’s recycling multi-generation old parts in “new” products.

I used to be like you, something for whom Apple can do no wrong. I defended them against any and all criticism, recommended their products far and wide, but those days are gone.

Apple are an ordinary company these days led by an uncharismatic bore of a leader.

Yep, Apple has joined Hollywood with actresses/actor, Spielberg and Oprah pushing their content to get your future dollars definitely not the Apple creative mojo from the past. Just Tim Crook the bean counter.

Agree. All services nobody really asked for.

Apple News+: Kind of interesting, but still do not know whether it will be worth the money. So many news services, I am not sure this really adds something.

Apple Card: An interesting idea, but I do not think it will replace my credit card any time soon. Credit cards are already a great invention, not sure whether Apple's new vision is necessary.

Apple Arcade: A platform for casual games. Nintendo Switch is already a great platform for that, and we also have the Playstation and XBOX. And over 100 casual games on the Apple ecosystem will not hold a candle to the huge library of PC games.

Apple TV+: The most underwhelming one so far. Netflix already has great shows, and Disney is going to be a killer. Not sure how Apple will be able to top that. Only Tim Cook seems excited about this one.

Tim has to go. He's only interested in numbers and profit margins. Apple needs an innovator. Get back to what made them different and successful.

Does it matter? How much more TV do you need from Apple that you can't already get?
Sure it matters. Youtube TV doesn't have integration with the TV app for one thing. Plus if they offer comparable service to YTTV AND I get their new series', I would sign up in a heartbeat.

What’s this if stuff? They’re not offering anything like YouTube tv. They already had their event. It’s a few series they paid for and that is their offering. The rest is “channels” that are 3rd party subs.

If you’re a Netflix you don’t want anywhere near that tv app. Others like Hulu don’t care but they’re struggling to get subs anyways with like 20m.

How does Apple grow subs to a few tv shows past 10m. 20m? It ain’t happening. Plus Disney and others still loom. Apple is going to lose this easy or have to open the piggy bank in a huge way. One billion won’t do it. It won’t come close.

Check this out ... https://notesmatic.com/apples-staff-size/

In 2007, Apple had 21,000 employees. Today, they have at least 132,000. That’s insane growth in 12 years, but all those people gotta have something to do. I agree that I prefer the “lean” Steve Jobs Apple of years past, but as we know they can only rely on iPhone sales for so long. They know this so have been expanding into all of these media areas for the past few years, building up to what we saw today.
The vast majority of those are retail employees. In 2007, Apple had only a handful of retail stores worldwide. Today it has around 500

I’m sure that barely anyone in the world could run Apple as successfully as Cook.

Yet...

Agree with you in that something seems wrong with Apple. There is innovation going on with the AirPods etc though.

And you could argue that innovation takes time and that Apple had a spectacular set of home runs with the iPod, ITMS & the iPhone that’s hard for any company to pull off twice (let alone once).

But with Steve Jobs’ passing (despite his many negative aspects), Apple feels like it has lost its heart, that relentless drive to put a dent in the universe (to paraphrase Jobs).

I’m now starting to think what Apple is going to be like after Tim Cook. And I guess from where it’s headed now it’ll be just another big company.

I only saw Jobs as someone who had the authority to be listened to. His way or the highway. Cook doesn’t seem to have that. Indeed I don’t think anyone other than Jobs could ever be that person again at Apple.

Good when that person is right most of time. Bad if not. Jobs wasn’t perfect. But I do think Apple would’ve acted sooner on some things under him. And would’ve said no to some other things.

But I’d say don’t skate to where things have already been disrupted (video streaming). There’s likely not to be another iPhone waiting out there but they’ll have to be a bit bolder about pouncing on disrupting the next thing. Meanwhile don’t forget what your core business is.

Why did Apple even hold this event now when most all the services won't be available for months?

Gartner has predicted that without Jobs Apple would become like any other large corporation.
