They changed the icon for Voice Control in this beta, part of Accessibility. The old microphone made sense, this new icon means what? Why change things just for the sake of change? Accessibility stuff is hard enough to master as it is, and people using Accessibility functionality most likely want consistency, and only want to deal with change if it’s a significant positive change. This icon change adds nothing.

The placement of the clock and other icons might seem different, but could be due to the screen size difference between my wife’s iPhone 12 Pro vs. my iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Apple needs new software designers. This is ridiculous.

Example: the long-press on + to immediately go to the photo picker.

STUPID. Not intuitive at all, even in the slightest.

Most people send PHOTOS in their texts more than they use stickers, avatars, location data and other features.

So rather than make a PHOTO button front and center and easily accessible, they expect you to think of long-pressing a simple button in order to introduce the shortcut.

Who thinks that way? Nobody. No one. Not a single person would think, intuitively, to hold down + as a fast way to bring up photos.

Ridiculous. I’m so tired of having to use Google or YouTube to search how to perform simple functions that a 3-year old used to be able to figure out with iOS. It’s like nothing matters anymore.

When I long press the + button, I get photos.

Edit: nevermind it's fixed in this beta. Glad I reported the bud to Apple a few betas ago.

Am I the only one with a bug on youtube.com in safari, where if I try to open a video in a new tab, it opens the main youtube.com instead of the linked video? Has been in all the iOS 17 betas.

Has anyone had their phone randomly pocket dial during the previous beta? I am using Face ID, and after locking it with the side button and putting it in my pocket, I’ve had people calling me to tell me that I called them multiple times. It happened 3 times just yesterday afternoon, not sure what this might be.

Someone please phone Tim and tell him to sack his entire design team because some rando is rage-typing on MacRumors.

The iMessage clutter with in-app app store and stickers and all that crap has long been ridiculous and I need it once a year TOPS and hit it by accident while typing once a day!

Why don't you apply. Sounds like you will be brilliant? I'm sure you have all the skills.

Moving the hang up button back to center is so boneheaded!
They made one good decision with moving it away from the habit to tap screen to wake up and then swipe up to unlock that resulted in so many involuntary hangups and they’re now backtracking…
I make lots of phone calls on a daily basis and this has never happened to me once, nor have I heard of this complaint from anyone else.

PLEASE SWAP THE AUDIO AND MUTE BUTTONS BACK IN THE PHONE APP ALSO

SO STUPID WHY WOULD ANYONE MOVE ANY OF THOSE ICONS INSANE
I like having the END button on the right instead of the middle. It is easier for my thumb. Apple should give options, like if you prefer the END button on either right, middle or left, just like Apple gave options for crown digital orientation left or right side.

Six betas in and they have not fixed a single issue of the hundred I've reported. The beta is more refined, and just as crappy UX as the first one.
What are the issues? I've filed some issues but I've yet to hear from them. This will take time for the devs to review. For example, I've filed some bugs and suggestions such as:
  • iMessage "+" - give the option if you want it on the left or right side of the input message that is easier for your thumb.
  • Phone DIAL and END buttons - give the option if you want it on the left or right side that is easier for your thumb.
  • Move the "create new" iMessage to the bottom consistent with the Notes and Email app, which is also easier for your thumb.

The known calendar bug is still there for me. I change the calendar event sound but it still plays the one I had before.

Literally every year, these comment sections are filled with people begging Apple to redesign iOS.
I hope people now understand why they won’t.
