Can’t they keep the call screen as it is on iOS 16, with the end call soft key at the bottom of the screen on its own.

Or am I missing something?

This messing around with the call screens seems as useful as the new tabbed interface in safari on macOS and iPadOS a few years back.

The redesign of the app picker in the Messages.app is one of the most idiotic changes Apple has made in a long time. It looks like something Facebook Messenger would have. It was perfect the way it was. How is a vertical list that takes up the whole screen and blurs the background any better or more intuitive than a horizontal scrolling bar, like it was in iOS 16? I guarantee this is going to be the most hated and criticized change that iOS 17 has brought. I can’t wait for them to change it back, which we all know is going to happen.

This is a prime example of change for the sake of change.
It looks so wildly different than the rest of the design language. I have a sneaking suspicion that it's a pre-cursor to the next major iOS re-design... I don't know if they are throwing it out there to gauge reactions to it.. or if it's the first step and a way of easing people in to it.... last major re-design was iOS 7 so they are about due.

Bring back 3D Touch! For the win! 😉🤣🤣🤣 I actually liked it. I understand that the newer panels may have had a problem with it though. I think I’ll survive. But not sure about this human. 🤭🤷🏻‍♂️
It was one of my favorite things, also why I held on to my XS for 3 years — but it's a hardware feature, so this definitely won't come back as a software update. The faster haptic is quite good though.

I thought the exact same thing when I saw it demoed at WWDC. And people thought iOS 7 looked like a Fisher-Price designed UI… just they wait till iOS 18. 🤮

wow beta 6 made my iPhone heat up drastically
When I first updated to the Public Beta my phone was pretty warm and did not have great battery life for the first 24~ hours. Afterwards, no unusual heat and battery life was back to iOS16 life (all day for me). I chalked it up to the phone having to re-index the iOS or something since it seemed to resolve itself.

This new beta has introduced an Apple Email issue for me on iPhone and iPad. Mail has totally lost all ability to save my emails to the correct folders. When I hit file for any email of types long filed in certain folders, the suggested folder is the same incorrect folder for every email.

iOS 17 betas have all gone real smooth for me. Only hiccup I had was the 2nd beta, which had some issues with transparent images and white backgrounds. Think it was related to Pro Motion and HDR, but it is all good now.

My iOS wishlist remains much the same since 14: Give me the ability to edit categories and rearrange things in App Library and/or give me the ability to make my alpha-sort in App Library the default view. Also want the ability to have hidden apps, like the bluetooth utilities I use so seldom, so I can make the alpha-sort clean and useful. Alternatively, just buy Niagra Launcher for Android and do that. :)

So rather than make a PHOTO button front and center and easily accessible, they expect you to think of long-pressing a simple button in order to introduce the shortcut.
That's not your only way to access Photos, just an extra one. A tap on the "+" button brings up the menu, and you can edit that list to put Photos at the top. Pretty intuitive, at least to me. The long press is just a second way to access. Thus not so upsetting.

Interestingly, some banking and airline apps that worked perfectly on PB2 now crash on PB3. Strange…

They finally removed GIF apps from Stickers back to stand alone iMessage apps! I hated having to use Stickers to find other apps. This was my biggest gripe with iMessage changes.

I can die happy again.

Does any one having issues trying to select phone number (send and receive) on iMessage and FaceTime?

Yea... but you don't need to pull up the keypad in order to hang up though... So I think we're ok there!
The reason why it has been moved to the middle is because many people are pressing the ride side when on a phone call so the screen doesn’t dim.

When in the keypad while on a phone call, the hang up button is still on the right so in my opinion we’re not ok there!

I liked the idea of moving the end call button - I sometimes accidentally call someone in my Favorites list, because the other person on a call that's ending hangs up just as I'm about to hit the end call button. Annoying.
