Looking forward to upgrading from my 13 Pro, though really just for the camera, everything else is fine on this one. Bit worried I’ll miss the 3x zoom, I use it a lot and it feels like a great focal length but we’ll see, maybe 5x will turn out to be equally useful.
Hate to tell you but if Apple is using the same 5x telephoto from 15PM, then expect lousy image quality. The 3X was noticeably better.

Just a FYI because you are responding to another party on that topic.
It's done via Feedback Assistant. The submission on rare occasional has someone from Apple contact you asking you to provide details how to reproduce the problem for your setup or concerning describing the failure better. Most of the time it's sorted automatically looking for common symptoms. The easiest example is a kernel panic involving particular software involved, that always generates a FeedBack Assistant event asking you to provide comments before you submits those and system logs. Most important the exact time it occurred so it can be traced easier. If it is a third party developer application I would contact that developer with as much details as possible for problem solving.

Thanx for the heads-up!

Why is this event always so early in the day?? At 6pm in the UK most people haven’t got back home yet 😀 and bizarrely you can’t rewind the live stream (mind boggling) 🤷🏻‍♂️
Hopefully they’ll do the boring watch stuff first !
I live on the East Coast in the US, and it will start at 1pm, in the middle of the work day. I would love for it to start at 6pm here.

I had 6 plus, worst iphone i have owned.. apps were constantly crashing due to low ram… bend gate was well documented.. so yeah, we are done here.
Newer any app crashed and no bend because I don't sit on it. Used it many years case-less.

Yesterday, I had this conversation with Siri:

Me: “Is it gong to rain today?”
Siri: “Yes. It looks like it is going to rain today.”
Me: “What time is going to rain today?”
Siri: “It is not going to rain today.”

I am definitely interested to see what difference AI is going to make.

Same here. Just worried about latency. The on-device inference should (hopefully) be relatively quick. But, anything that needs to be sent to the servers is going to probably feel slow, but maybe they've been able to make a lot of headway on that with their own dedicated servers and the volume of business they'll be doing with OpenAI.

But I'm saying this as a guy with an iPhone 14 Pro Max so will be waiting at least a year to see the tech develop before being able to use it on any next device. Whether that next device is an iPhone is really going to depend on whether any of these AI features are any good.

Where I am, Siri would have an easy life. Either not worth asking because it is obviously already raining, or answer "Within the next hour". That would cover most of this year...

The best thing you could do is write a thoughtful letter to Craig Federighi with you ideas. He'll read your letter and consider your ideas. And write you a letter back thanking you for taking the time to write.

"a few ideas that are totally possible but they'll never do because they're conservative and only care about profit margins:"

Yes... Apple cares about profits, as all successful companies do. But they also realize the path to profits is only possible by developing/manufacuring/selling outstanding products that people love to purchase and use. Apple manufacturing and selling 600,000 iPhones per day, every day of the year, for their 1 billion active (and repeat customers) is evidence that people love Apple products.
lol i love apple products, i have an apple tattoo, i just think they could do more and wish they would. there are so many cool things that could be made with today's technology that i would only trust apple to make because of the privacy implications. i want a robot in my life so bad and it saddens me that apple won't do it, not because it wouldn't be profitable, but because it's not the most profitable thing they could do... increasing profits > changing the world, so depressing

i'm sure they're working on a lot of things but so long as people keep buying iphones every release they don't have the incentive to release them. the maximum profit comes from them doing nothing so long as we keep buying the same thing over and over, which is pretty much where we're at. they won't change course unless we stop buying, so i've stopped buying

Have you ever got a respond from Apple? I’ve send bug reports many times, even send suggestions in making it better. I also know people who reach out to Apple for high security risks. No respond or thanks. Even developers aren’t getting responses from Apple.

Maybe you’re an exception, but the majority of people receive nothing. And reading developer forums, it’s also one of the big complaints about Apple. Their lack of communication.
yeah i've never heard back about any of my bug reports either, though mine weren't security risks. i just assume they're so big now that they're flooded with them and don't want to pay someone to respond to them

i have seen them credit people in the details of their release notes though, so that's something

Haha, thanks. I’m glad at least one person likes my colours! (Might be cheaper to buy three cases to match those outfits though. 😉)
i know i knoww =[ but it’s not the same somehow. i love how a naked phone feels in the hand, the feeling of metal and glass. it may as well be made of plastic if i’m gonna put a case and screen protector on it ya know? i miss the days of the colorful ipods, and imacs before that. fingers crossed that the leaks weren’t 100% accurate and we get some good surprises tomorrow 🤞🏻🤞🏻

You'll get the option to choose between the two answers and rate which one you like better.

that's sad to hear =[ i love the 3x on my 14PM, seems like it would be a much more usable focal length for portraits too. 5x i would only use at concerts, and if the image quality is worse or it's worse in low light then there's not much point

If needed, wait til fall discounts in NOV - DEC is my view. I have the 12 and want to upgrade but hate the idea of paying more some useless AI features that will end up costing me money eventually.

may look to get cheat previous version.

Apple AI is bull-honkey until they show it working in practice and that they do not filter it like all other results.

The only thing I expect from the "event" is the official launch of the iPhone 18 rumor campaign.
It's not Groundhog Day. It's Groundhog Year.
🥱
Hell yeah! Bring on the iPhone 18 mini rumors!

no doubt you are all waiting for next week so that you can all tart telling us about the iPhone 17 and what aPPLE SHOULD HAVE DONE.

Nothing impressive with this launch. Keeping UW1 and AirPods 1, but will upgrade iPhone 14PM to 16PM. Even if a Space Black UW3 releases I’m still keeping my UW1. Come on Apple, I know that Apple Intelligence upgrades will be the talk of the keynote, but nothing ground breaking! Give us Apple Ring. Give us foldable phone. Lots of ideas that greater excitement than yearly refreshes!

Of course Apple does market research; like all very successful companies.

Manufacturing and selling 600,000 iPhone per day, every day of the year (on the average), with 1 billion+ active (and repeat) customers, supports the fact that Apple does market research and creates products that people like. That's why it's one of the most successful tech companies on the planet.
You’re drinking the Apple Kool-Aid and enjoying the Apple Tax. My phones since 2009 have been, iPhone 4, 4S, 5, 5S, 6 Plus, 7 Plus, XS max, 12 Pro Max, 14 Pro Max, and the 16 Pro Max.

Apple “forcefully” and “purposefully” forced the largest upgrade in history with the AI cut off of the A17 Pro. If you don’t see this then I want you to pay attention. Apple is the business of making money. If you think that upgrading to a highest storage on your devices makes you feel important, Apple will make you feel important. If you believe that every $200 for RAM upgrades will make you justify better performance overtime, Apple has done this to you.

I am someone who sells Apple products for my job on a daily basis. I’m an Apple fanboy at heart, but I have conscious and understand business moves and business decisions to help increase revenue and profitability. The money you spend on Apple products is your own belief of value and product justification, but not someone else’s.

I had a 6 plus as a work phone for a while (a few months) when it was new. And thoroughly appreciated it. At the time, I had only had Android phones and the combination of its large (and quite decent) screen, decent battery life, and being IOS was much nicer.

I don't remember a single problem with it - except it was just too large to be comfortable and safe in a trouser pocket.

So many sites are rumor-reporting a longer telephoto on the Max mode. That is the ONLY reason I will up grade this year, these "upgrades" don't seem to kick my iPhone 15 ProMax out of my pocket. This could be the first year this Apple-Fan-Boy doesn't upgrade.
to each his own (hopefully you get that upgrade)... an odd "only" reason to upgrade... implies if Tim said "we've made it half as thin and light, tripled the battery life and lowered the price" it'd be a "no buy" as the telephoto is not longer.

(I know you likely mean of rumored upgrades... this year is more like a 12SSSS release year).
