Looking forward to upgrading from my 13 Pro, though really just for the camera, everything else is fine on this one. Bit worried I’ll miss the 3x zoom, I use it a lot and it feels like a great focal length but we’ll see, maybe 5x will turn out to be equally useful.

No they're not. They started filing patents for it back in 2011 with the amount steadily climbing each year. This year they filed a bunch of them.

They're going to wait until they have something perfected to release it. I'd hardly consider the current foldable phones perfected.

Yeah sure, same as they were perfecting big phones and came with 6 plus that bent easily and had only 1 gig of ram so apps crashed regulary..

how do you fit a 1" sensor in a thin device?

i have a Pocket 3 with a 1" sensor. it's great.
but my iPhone 13 does pretty smooth video these days.
and the Sony 1" sensor proper camera does crap panoramas compared to iPhone.
sometimes you cant beat good computing :)

Vivo, Xiaomi, and Oppo managed to fit one in, so I am sure Apple can too.

Yesterday, I had this conversation with Siri:

Me: “Is it gong to rain today?”
Siri: “Yes. It looks like it is going to rain today.”
Me: “What time is going to rain today?”
Siri: “It is not going to rain today.”

I am definitely interested to see what difference AI is going to make.

I'm really excited to see all the innovations Apple is bringing to iPhone this year.

I love them taking us for a deep dive into their labs to showcase the advancements they have made in chip design. The camera system upgrades are always incredible.

I'm expecting a ton of refinements to the iPhone Pro line. This should really make the new products genuinely compelling upgrades for everyone.

Let's go!!!
Be prepared to get underwhelmed. Those camera upgrades you’re so excited about come from Sony and is their invention. New screen with smaller bezels is Samsung’s invention.

I’m hoping of an Apple invention showing of their A18 comes with at least 16 gb of RAM so I don’t have to upgrade to another iPhone next year to use iOS 19 or 20.

It’s kind of weird that only the 15 pros are able to use apples IOS 18 capabilities at the fullest. Apple said they’ve been working on AI for years so this means planned obsolescence by Timmy.

Buying a new iPhone with only 8 gb of ram means future trouble for sure.

Why is this event always so early in the day?? At 6pm in the UK most people haven’t got back home yet 😀 and bizarrely you can’t rewind the live stream (mind boggling) 🤷🏻‍♂️
Hopefully they’ll do the boring watch stuff first !

Reading all the rumors it seems you won’t miss much and can always look back on YouTube.

One thing is fo’ sho’…we’re gettin’ some ugly a.. phones! Maybe they’ll give everyone a free case?

They do that sort of thing, right?
They were giving you bumpers for free in the past when you were holding your phone wrong 😂

I’m not sure what you’ll get when you choose the zune brown 🤔… free toilet paper?

But that's not true. Several of them have their sources in the company. Of course, the work culture at Apple is based on the division of tasks, teams don't really know what they're ultimately working on. When Prosser was talking about Series 8 or 9, he was talking about a flat screen in a watch. He probably had knowledge from someone from the team who worked on the Ultra part, but without being aware that they were working on a completely new model. Gaps in knowledge are filled with experience, history, intuition - the better ones get it, have better sources, higher in the company hierarchy, the worse ones guess more, have knowledge from lower-level employees. You also have to take into account that there are several paths to approach a new product, and for example, the project of a new strap mechanism ended up in the trash, because two, three or five other teams were developing the same element anyway.
As all of Apple’s hardware is being produced in China… you’ll probably understand where those leaks are coming from 😎

If your iPhone 13 Pro is still working fine for you these days, I personally would wait another year. I’ll bet the iPhone 17 will get more ram because a meager 8 GB isn’t going to cut the AI job very good. Probably lots of the kinks of their AI will be solved too by next year I hope 🤞🏻

Are you certain about that? Over the years, I have observed numerous ideas being posted here, and you are merely expressing dissatisfaction with others expressing their opinions. At least those who criticize Apple for its lack of innovation or limited color options provide constructive feedback. Your ungrateful complaining offers no constructive input whatsoever. It is unlikely that large corporations will ever care about your lavish praise on them.

Yes, I'm certain.

"At least those who criticize Apple for its lack of innovation or limited color options provide constructive feedback."

That's a real hoot! Constructive feedback? To who? Other forum members complaining? That just provokes more discord/rage and solves no issues/problems.

The way to provide constructive feedback is to write a thoughtful (and adult level) detailed letter to either Craig F or Tim C at Apple expressing concerns and recommendations, backed up with some supporting data/information. It will be read and considered. And you'll receive a response back with their thanks. I know from personal experience.

I suspect that's waaaay too much trouble for many. It's much easier to make a bunch of noise on the forum and call it a day.

a few ideas that are totally possible but they'll never do because they're conservative and only care about profit margins:

1. redesign the iPhone. like, cars are a pretty mature technology. but they make different looking ones. and in different colors. like that. maybe make a rounded and a flat sided one, sold side by side with the same internals, and let us pick. maybe give the flat sided one a squared off display also for a totally different vibe from the rounded

2. aiPod, dedicated AI device powered by the new siri, like the rabbit but that actually works. give it a personality, let it be a virtual friend and assistant that remembers your conversations, photos you've taken with it, things youve experienced together, things you've done and that you need to do. personal info stored on device encrypted. give it a touchscreen just big enough to have a keyboard to type prompts to it when you can't speak them outloud. maybe eink or a round display to discourage social media and media consumption on it. faceid/touchid so it can recognize its talking to you. if new siri needs A18 work on it a year or two and put it in once the price comes down and iPhone has moved on. underclock it for better battery life

2.1. a wearable thats a pendant like the friend, but with a camera and the ability to operate independently from an iPhone. throw touchid on the back maybe. otherwise similar to above

basically some device that is helpful to people in a human way, without sucking them into social media addiction. bring the iPod name into the branding because it would literally be a little pod friend

3. an armband with a curved display that merges iPhone and apple watch. health monitoring features plus a display big enough to do most iPhone type tasks. make it in 2-3 sizes. maybe make it detachable with magsafe so you can interact with it with 2 hands? not super necessary with AI maturing, and swipe to text works pretty great with one hand. under display front camera, and a pair of cameras on top facing away from the user. if this caught on it could make horizontal screens relevant again

4. use some of that apple car knowledge and make a small robot that can follow you around the house, to the store, carry things for you, maybe eventually with an arm to bring you things, maybe eventually a vacuum or mop or other attachments that it can put on itself. with AI like the above AI iPod device, and to be able to recognize its environment and eventually manipulate things. i don't care how expensive it would be. make it upgradeable to future apple silicon so you dont need to replace the whole thing so its a better investment, to get people to take a chance on it. i would probably only buy a product like this if it's made by Apple

5. a glowing OLED apple logo, or something on the edge of the iPhone that can gently pulse when you have a notification, in different colors based on what app it's from. if samsung has a patent on edge lighting or something pay to license it. is it necessary? no, it's just flair. the imac g3 and g4 didn't need to look like they did either, and we never needed glowing apple logos on macbooks, but many people loved them. apple used to go above and beyond to stand out and make the user feel like they really had something special and different

idk just like make me feel like i'm in 2025 and not reliving 2017 over and over for a decade

The best thing you could do is write a thoughtful letter to Craig Federighi with you ideas. He'll read your letter and consider your ideas. And write you a letter back thanking you for taking the time to write.

"a few ideas that are totally possible but they'll never do because they're conservative and only care about profit margins:"

Yes... Apple cares about profits, as all successful companies do. But they also realize the path to profits is only possible by developing/manufacuring/selling outstanding products that people love to purchase and use. Apple manufacturing and selling 600,000 iPhones per day, every day of the year, for their 1 billion active (and repeat customers) is evidence that people love Apple products.

My prediction, both models the 16 Pro and Pro Max will have the same cameras this year, a new ultra wide angle with 48 MP, the highlight of the year, the same wide angle from the 15 Pro and both the 5x telephoto lens from the 15 Pro Max. Unfortunately no IMX903. In terms of video capabilities, the 16 Pro Max may get more and both will be eSIM only worldwide. The new displays will stand out in terms of quality. Will there be a new anti-glare coating?

I like to see them announce a A18 based iPad mini 7 as a surprise at the end of the event. Yes something more than the predictable updates such as iPhone 16 series, Apple Watch 10 series, and AirPods.
I'm looking to drop some money on an iPad Mini, but at this point, three years later, i am not holding my breath for a refresh if at all. I can't see Apple reserving that "Oh, one more thing" spot for an iPad that just isnt popular or a MEGA seller for them.

And possibly capturing 4K video at 120 fps.

"Will there be a new anti-glare coating?"

Only if the coating/etching doesn't reduce contrast - that's critical.

And it would need to be very robust in terms of longevity, with the coating/etching not being worn away due to typical iPhone use. That's a tall order considering the amount of abrasion the screen surface would need to endure, even in normal daily use.

I often did. Also in reporting bugs in Apple’s software but never got a thanks or message back 😎

Have you ever got a respond from Apple? I’ve send bug reports many times, even send suggestions in making it better. I also know people who reach out to Apple for high security risks. No respond or thanks. Even developers aren’t getting responses from Apple.

Maybe you’re an exception, but the majority of people receive nothing. And reading developer forums, it’s also one of the big complaints about Apple. Their lack of communication.

I've never submitted a bug report. Wouldn't know who to send one to. I suspect (guessing) developers have access to a specific software engineer at Apple that handles those.

It’s funny, MacRumours keep saying the AirPods 4 will have shorter stems like the AirPods Pro, but comparing my AirPods 3 with the Pros, the stems are the same length or just maybe slightly shorter on the AirPods 3! Sure, the the stems are much shorter than the AirPods 2, but that change happened a long time ago.

Just a FYI because you are responding to another party on that topic.
It's done via Feedback Assistant. The submission on rare occasional has someone from Apple contact you asking you to provide details how to reproduce the problem for your setup or concerning describing the failure better. Most of the time it's sorted automatically looking for common symptoms. The easiest example is a kernel panic involving particular software involved, that always generates a FeedBack Assistant event asking you to provide comments before you submits those and system logs. Most important the exact time it occurred so it can be traced easier. If it is a third party developer application I would contact that developer with as much details as possible for problem solving.
