I couldn't care less about "Facebook Home". I don't want to see photos of my friends first thing in the morning!

I'm happy to see a new Facebook update which is actually quite decent. Chat Heads was something I wanted to try out. Finally, we have it ;)
Little gimmicky, but decent.

Liking the fresh new icon by the way. Probably a Facebook "Messenger" and "Pages" update is on the way.

I updated hoping these chat bubbles would be useful. And I don't have them, that sucks.

However, the new layout on iPhone is definitely smoother, so thats a plus.
Speaking of plus, why couldn't have Google+ happened before Facebook.

I just don't understand why they keep making things for Facebook when messenger is sitting right there. They need to get rid of messenger because it's seriously a second class citizen.

The entire reason I use them on Android is to avoid having to launch any SMS or Facebook app to respond to messages. If you're already in the app, the whole feature is rendered irrelevant.

I want to come back to iOS this Summer, but it's looking so...behind...at the moment. These kinds of services/apps are so useful on Android, but they're just not possible on iOS :(

Sandboxing is what keeps iOS secure, yet the bloggers turn this into a negative for iOS. Pathetic.

Cool and also what allows malware to install onto your nexus from the Google Play store then transfer to your PC, record audio, and upload it to China.

Also while we'll never allow Android devices in our organization.

hahaha this is hilarious

Yeah, FB really wants to make the messenger component a visible feature, because they want you to use that over iMessage, SMS, WhatsApp, etc.

Since Facebook messaging is asynchronous, I don't understand why the chat has to be turned on like the instant messengers (which are synchronous). I should be able to navigate to "Messages" screen for all my messaging needs.

"News Feed" screen should be all about news feeds. As it stands (6.0), news feed area is even narrower. At this rate, the news feed area on iPad will be as physically narrow as the iPhone.

So, it's the FaceBook app with some new features.

Don't entirely understand how this warrants a verge video review.

Why not? I would guess its one of the top 10 if not top 5 downloaded apps on ios and smart phones and tablets in general and there are millions of Facebook users. What else tech related is going that would warrant videos? If they have time to do it why not?

Looks like they're running out of ideas. That's good. I'd like to see Facebook fall from relevance.

Considering Facebook has some really talented guys like Matas and Brichter working on these things, you'd have thought they'd come up with a better solution than chatheads. I for one hate persistent overlays.

I really wish everyone would just migrate over to Google+ already.

I haven't taken a closer look at Google+ as the people I know who are on Google+ are on Facebook as well, plus other people are on FB as well.

What are the advantages of Google+ over Facebook?

Great, now where's Facebook Messenger for iPad? I've been waiting for that for over a year now...

What are the advantages of Google+ over Facebook?

What is the advantage of social media over simply having someone's number and texting/calling them? Am I honestly the only person who doesn't care about what happened to everyone I went to school with, pictures/video of what someone's "cute" puppy did last night, or the instant location updates of 500 people slamming at me as "updates"?

If I really need to know where someone is I call them or text them. If I want to know what is happening with someone I went to school with I can call or text them. I thought Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/"insert new irrelevant, too late to the social media party name here" were only relevant for people who want to replace their lack of a life with cute .gifs and videos of old people dancing.

I was hoping this update might get Timeline on the original iPad. It doesn't.

Am I the only one that sees FB reinventing the wheel? Why do I need chat in FB? I've got SMS & iMessage. All "free" anyways. I've noticed that I get SMS/iMessage replies way more quickly then messages I send to ppl on FB. They're reinventing the wheel and trying to force it upon ppl to show why you need it "because everyone is on it"... self fulfilling prophecy. No thanks. I just keep checking FB less and less :)

I can think of a couple advantages facebook chat has over sms, iMessage and whatsapp

A) Sending, sent, read notifications (advantage over sms).

B) Cross platform (advantage over iMessage especially since I have friends using at least 3 different platforms)

C) Can send messages while on your mac/PC (advantage over whatsapp and sms (at least if you use a non jailbroken iphone. :D

Hmmm...

installed, and now the my time line doesn't work - just has a spinning activity symbol. I can post stuff though but I can only reliably see my own time line.

Not impressed so far; I just wish they'd fix the bugs in this app rather than loading it with gimmicks.
