I use the fb paper app instead of their main app. I like the way it works and it has messenger in it. But I feel like they'll get rid of it sometime soon. It hasn't been updated in a while.
Lol, condescending much??!!
The assumption that people that eschew Facebook don't know what it is or what it does, is the height of egotistical ignorance.
Please.
Yeah; believe it or not: we can actually grasp the concept. And we are not "missing out"; trust.
As a matter of fact.... I challenge you to d/l a timer app & for a day, press it every time you waste your life on that time vampire; then- come back here & post to me in minutes and seconds the quantified amount YOU are missing out on life... I will be looking into my daughter's beautiful eyes during that time, listening to her slowly starting to connect in her perfect little brain the sounds animals make with photos of them in her picture books.
Perhaps if a colleague of a former flatmate's cousin saw a video of something equally precious & posted it on FB, you will be able to semi experience that type of joy third-hand.
Enjoy the disconnect.
I absolutely LOVE technology; it is my lifeblood, career, & passion- but miss me with Facebook please. It is the antithesis of all which I hold dear.
I'm not sure why people are complaining since Facebook is free. If you were actually paying for the product, then you would have grounds for complaints.
Love this post. We should be friends. I quit FB in 2010 because it was taking up too much of my life and I was creeped out by them. Now I've got a kid and yeah, what you said.Lol, condescending much??!!

Seems like the condescending parts are really in the "People still use crapbook?" and "I don't use that crap" type of posts that are there to show show others how "enlightened" those posters must be and how "simpleton" the others are.Lol, condescending much??!!

The messages one makes a fair amount of sense even if it might be more convenient for some to do it all in one app. Basically Facebook messenger has been getting used more and more as a separate messaging service by many where they would just mostly talk to people using it (similar to using Hangouts or Viber or something else of that nature) and wouldn't care much about the other aspects of Facebook like making status updates or reading what others are sharing. Not sure they are thinking when they separate messages and the main facebook app. The decision just doesn't make sense.
So now I just don't have both, I deleted them. Using Safari to browse facebook on my iphone is just fine.
It seems for most people the information that they provide isn't anything that they really care about or find "tangible" essentially, so for them, they aren't really giving up anything that they would miss or that has value to them.Hilarious that you think Facebook is free. They may not charge you to use the service, but you're not getting it for free. Just paying them with information instead of cash.
Wait until she start growing, starts dancing and playing sports. You want to show those photos off to everyone even the person you don't know. You will know the feeling when other people starts liking your photos. ROFL!Lol, condescending much??!!

You do realize that most of the people here who say they never use FB are full of ****, right?I wouldn't say people are leaving it, there's just more annoyance when using it when we get pushed to do things (messenger was the worst thing to be dragged into)

I wondered why it went to the #1 app in Australia, now I know why....

Well, you are missing out
Sounds like the issue is on the side of people.I deactivated my account 3 weeks ago and feel so much better for it. They fail to act on legitimate reports I've made about inappropriate content, bullying by people that happened to be commenting on the same post I was (real low level stuff which I can't even repeat here), and harassment. People get addicted to receiving likes to the point where that's all they live for - staring into their phones like zombies waiting for the next dopamine hit. It can be OK if you set it up right and don't use it too heavily. But on the whole I think it's an evil.
Because people can't have both somehow?Missing out on what? To see people I don't know get married and have kids?
I actually have friends. You know, the kind that you dial their number and talk to. The ones where they have your actual back.
Seems like having a separate messenger app would work against that actually. You must be new to the Internet. Welcome! Glad to have you on board
Internet Lesson #1 - Facebook isn’t free.
The product being sold is you.
Here’s one article about it and you’ll find dozens or hundreds more with a simple Google search.

The more time you spend on Facebook, the more ads they can serve up to you. Why do you think they want you to IM other people so much? So you have to come back and look at the responses. And get ads served at you.
When you log in using FB, they save your information on said website. It's just that they gather them from Facebook instead of directly asking you to input them in a formI have mine set pretty private. I do like using it for the major purpose of login into websites and places to eat. Makes me more secure that I don't have to worry about a hack in a board or website. I also keep it because I was in fb since 06 and have a lot of pictures from college days when everyone upload and tag everyone, they are all backup though so I don't care much these days what's left.
They don't save the facebook password which is what is importantWhen you log in using FB, they save your information on said website. It's just that they gather them from Facebook instead of directly asking you to input them in a form![]()

Handing over that personal information is not a cost to me. Just because it helps them doesn't mean it hurts me. The ads? I block that s***. The only cost is time, I guess, and I spend more time on MacRumors.Even though you don't pay money doesn't mean there is no cost. There are different types of costs other than money. In this case it is your data and personal information which people hand over to Facebook. Without users, Facebook would not be able to sell advertising therefore make money. It is in their best interests to keep majority of users happy.
Therefore every user of Facebook has a right to complain.
Well, do the same thing for other sites you visit, like MacRumors. Facebook is just another forum to me, and it does help in ways. I'm in college, and people in college send invitations through Facebook, so if I didn't use it to check for stuff, I'd be missing out. Definitely MacRumors is the time-waster for me. I go here when I'm bored / waiting for a process to finish.Lol, condescending much??!!

That's a new one. How is that hatred is beyond my understanding.Wow...that's hatred…
It is Zucks vision - make millions. He succeeded. This is why Facebook is one of the most hated platforms and why users are leaving. Facebook is MySpace, full of spam, hatred, abandoned pages etcetera. This certainly wasn't Zuckerberg's vision, but is the result of the trolls running the show now. Ever heard of a great user experience, Facebook? Forcing users to do something with a threat of blowing up their collection of photos is disgusting. Keep coercing customers, Facebook. See how that pans out long term.

[doublepost=1465700822][/doublepost]Facebook was partly funded by the CIA's investment arm. It's just a honeypot for the surveillance society.
I don't think you understand what rape and slavery really are.
You volunteered to sign up for Facebook. Don't like it, don't use it. If you say you don't use it, this up doesn't affect you.
People still use Crapbook?
Never used FB, never will.
