Number 1 is the only one that counts. 2 is something you agree to when you make an account. Don't like it, don't sign up or just don't post stuff. Number 3 is a basic business practice. They're a company, their aim is to be successful, and your data is the way they do that. Again, if you don't like it, don't make an account.

People don't understand the implications of losing control of their own information, especially to a company that does not intrinsically set out to protect their members.

I was once a member, but I killed my account after one of the awful changes to the T&C's. Unfortunately, they still have my data even though my account is "gone".

and he is hanging out on an android support and fan site?

No, I just meant that his opinion would not have a shred of objectivity. I like certain products over others (that's why I bought them in the first place) but I can still be objective about things I don't prefer. I rarely use Facebook, but I'm not going to just trash something without research.

It's the blind loyalty on ANYTHING (Android/iOS, xBox/PS3, OSX/Windows) which causes the majority of flamewars.

Apple, if you are watching...

Do. Not. Want.

There may be some things Android devices do right, this is NOT one of them.

I open Facebook app, just once everyday. I wouldn't want the whole home screen to painted with facebook. Thats the best part of iOS no one can ****** with it.
Also half the guys in my facebook list have faces not belonging to them, sometime its a gaming character like Hulk, with only faces how am i suppose to know who hulk actually is.
Mark Z is great guy, he might've already thought of this issue, maybe this will prompt people to use their own faces.

Dear iPhone/iOS users -

You will never have to use this if you stick with Apple. While the App might make it's way to the App Store - the "integration" lever will never appear on an iOS device.

Well never might be too strong of a word. It's just hard to imagine Apple allowing facebook to overtake the UI in this way.

Might iOS integrate more with FB in the future? Sure... but not this way.

What a clever way for Facebook to route all your communication through them so that it can be exposed to data mining. You'll also get to view a lot more ads.

I think I'd rather see my own wallpaper on my private home/lock screen. FB is annoying enough as an app I am forced to occasionally check and give my friends the feedback they crave when they do something mundane.

I like this status ;)

In readings everyone's posts about privacy concerns, the words "Google" and "Facebook" seem to be interchangable on this site.

The problem is, that joining Facebook may become less and less of a voluntary "choice". If a smartphone is released with this monstrosity as the default setup, then I'm sure you are prompted to create an account to access the most basic functions of the device. How soon before its on the majority of devices by default?

Facebook is trying to make itself the *only* way to communicate with your friends and share stuff with them. Anyone without an account misses out on invitations, pictures, etc. Not even Google can create anything even remotely close in popularity--they are a monopoly.

This makes no sense. Does anyone know what a launcher is? Does anyone know how Android actually works or is it just based on how you think it works?

From the description it look like Facebook Home is more than just a launcher. I have use a ADW.Launcher and NOVA, yet the notification interface is the same as with Samsung's gawd awful TouchWiz. FBH looks like it's got it's tendrils into the messaging and notification. Who knows what else. Just switching launcher doesn't mean all of the FBH services are switch off. Last thing I want is a background service surreptitiously sending my personal info to the mothership.

The only way to exorcise it would be to root and use Titanium Backup to uninstall it. Then you'd have to take your chances to see how much it was integrated into the ROM. No. The best option is a custom ROM without the stench of FB anywhere near.

Wow... now all the junk on my FB wall can be streamed to my cell phone non-stop!

I guess some users will love this... this is so much better than doing their own phone. That would have been a disaster. I wonder why they didn't include iOS? Probably the revenue sharing rule???? Did they say why no iOS????

Nope - not all - I actually use Newsstand and want to have it on the first screen.

But I agree, it is stupid that you can't hide stock apps, because SOME iOS users don't use them.

As soon as I wrote all and hit post I realized I shouldn't have been all inclusive.

In my time here, that app seems to be the one that MOST iOS users want removed
