Yeah, I was hoping for that too

Also, still can't tag friends in-line in messages (using @<name>) only as 'with xxx' which is a bit naff too

Hopefully these will be added before too long

Exactly my two main issues with the old app and now with the new app!

This is a great and much needed update!

I can't imagine why it took them this long to figure out that their HTML5 version wasn't cutting it and to make a native iOS app.

I'm just very skeptic about the new Sponsored Stories in the News Feed..kind of kills what Facebook originally was.

Its because Facebook is an advertising business now (like how Google is). Take a look at Facebook's stock since their IPO. They're diving. Facebook was only good when they first came out and ONLY for colleges and it got lame after that.

That's slander of what Steve Jobs has actually said... HTML5 is great for web pages to replace flash BUT NATIVE APPS in OBJECTIVE C are always best. Why do you think all of iOS doesn't use HTML5?

Because HTML5 is mainly for the internet. Objective-C, C and C++ are for mobile OSes.

but steve jobs said that HTML5 is da awesome and the future of everything

Hardly.

HTML5 enables significant standards based content delivery opportunities, but Jobs never said it would replace native programming languages for everything.

Missing FLASH are you? Still angry huh.

Now that this version has ads, I'll be glad to go back to the old version. If they stop allowing people to use the old version, I'll quit what little I use FB for all together.

Much faster! But, unfortunately, the app still lacks the ability to share content.

Rumor is, the share capability will have to wait for iOS 6 and its better integration with Facebook.

Mark

People are talking about sharing posts. That has nothing to do with iOS 6....

The integration in iOS 6 is sharing links from safari, etc and posting photos strait from the library/camera roll...

The old version had ads too. Yesterday I had one for some Viking game.

Well, it's a big inprovement on the crappy 2G signal I get at work. Definitely snappier. Onviously it can't increase the data transfer rate, but it must be communicating with the server more efficiently which has the same effect as increased data speed.

One nice new feature I've noticed is that it sometimes displays a red bar under the Status/Photo/Check-in buttons saying 'Network Error'. I see this even if the signal indicators show there is a signal and a data connection. I guess that this situation would cause the old app to just sit there with the progress wheel spinning away forever. So now you know you have to reload the page.

But do you trust Apple?

Surely you (not you personally 'you' as a collective) would have to be quite foolish to trust any large, wealthy company too much.

Do I trust Apple? No. Do I trust Google? No. Do I trust Samsung, Microsoft, Amazon, Dropbox, etc? Nope.

Do I still use their services? Yep.

I can't believe that we still don't have the ability to "Share" stuff. It's missing the "Share" hyperlink/button that the web version has.

What's up with that, in this late version 5????

sorry to disappoint, but this update sucks for me.... every single phone on my wall is now zoomed in by about 30% and cropped off...so now instead of seeing every single phone in full I have to click on it....total nuisance. STILL no SHARE capability of a post...WHY!??

Finally.. I was beginning to think my iPhone was dying. Nope, just bad code.

And I would also like to add: WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH matey..... I DID NOT STATE IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM THAT FACEBOOK MAKES AMERICANS FAT!!!

Well, you're certainly blathering on about the whole "fat americans" thing now. Just pointing out your hypocrisy.
