Bold Prediction Time:

FB will partner with GOOG on a custom smartphone, that enables them to create a mid-tier competitor to AAPL's iPhones !

AAPL will always own the high-end, esp. for Gamers, but below that, it is & will always be, "Open Season".

GOOG needs a partner like FB, & FB now (@ iOS 14) appears to need a partner like GOOG !

NOT Rocket Science, just some common sense here.

Also, AAPL's recent decision to RE-direct websites in iOS 14 to its News App, will very-likely attract Media Outlets to ANY new GOOG / FB smartphone !

BTW, the PBS documentary on FB last night was extremely educational ! ... loved it ! ... way to go PBS !

Facebook today warned advertisers that Apple's upcoming anti-tracking tools could cause a more than 50 percent drop in Audience Network publisher revenue due to the removal of personalization from ads within apps.

Wait, is Facebook warning advertisers that soon Facebook won't be able to take as much money from them? As an advertiser, I'd be happy! :)

I’m so tired of seeing all the Facebook fanboys flooding into this site and vilifying Apple for this change./s

“We know this may severely impact publishers' ability to monetize through Audience Network on ‌iOS 14‌, and, despite our best efforts, may render Audience Network so ineffective on ‌iOS 14‌ that it may not make sense to offer it on ‌iOS 14‌ in the future”

in other words, the leeches are cornered

So if the option is toggled OFF, that means tracking is completely disabled or it means they can do it without my permission?
I would like to know this also I have it toggled off and I'm worried I did the wrong thing

But ... won't we just get shown a higher quantity of ads to make up the shortfall?

Is that supposed to work yet btw or do apps need to be updated so to speak? Cuz I haven’t seen that pop up once and my Instagram is still filled with creepy personalized ads too

The picture in the article shows a setting. It appears if you turn that off, apps are automatically told you can't be tracked, right?? Seems like that is what I'd want.

So FB will lose 50% from stopping tracking and combine that with the 50% less people using FB after forcing their new interface on everyone they are back to 0. That new interface SUCKS!!!!

If you have it like so, it's OFF and Apps can't track.

I would assume that personalized ads resulted in higher click rates. If you are an app developer and now display “less relevant” ads then you will receive less ad revenue due to fewer clicks.

Facebook is trying to figure out how to spin this so that Apple is viewed as taking money from developers (“First, Apple wants to charge commission! Now, they won’t even allow an honest, hard-working developer the right to show highly sophisticated advertising based on all the private data we’ve collected for 15 years. Outrage!”).

Ya know what I was thinking...we subscribe to such things as HBO, Showtime, Music Services, etc. and pay a fee to be commercial less on some offerings. Why can't FB and others, just charge a small fee for the App and stop invading our privacy? Just a thought.
