I hope t’s better than the Amazon Halo.I got one for work because I didn’t want to damage my Apple Watch and it’s worthless junk. Basic things like charging it barely work.

Facebook is about to become one of the worlds leading ai providers and it's precisely because they have so much data on everyone. They will know where you are and what you're doing even if you are not carrying any devices.

On the upside, the social networking business will diminish substantially and regulation will rein in a lot of the "wild west" aspects of todays privacy.
LoL....come on dude, worlds largest ai provider, do you know what ai is? How would having peoples personal data make them good at ai?

People laughing about this don’t understand that this is ultimately a good thing for competition and thus a good thing for us. Super glad you lot aren’t in charge of any major decisions :)
U don't understand... it would have to be a good smart watch to be competition,
Now do u understand?

I really want FB to pour billions into this project. Just like Microsoft poured billions into their failed imitations of the Apple Retail Stores.... those Microsoft stores have been closed down. Failure. Money sink. Out of business.
Wait, are they? I thought they were closed because of COVID. All the locations are still listed on their web site.

Can't say I've been to one, though. I think I saw one once at a local mall but just kept walking.

Good you aren’t either! At least from what I can tell by your quite naive post.
Just because another company makes a watch, that does not mean new competition. Also, not every additional competition is a good thing.
There is a lot of competition in the smart watch and sports watch market that pushes apple a lot more than a “f... your privacy, we want your health data”-company ever will.

Yep, there's really nothing more I want than to constantly report my coordinates to Mark Frickin Zuckerberg in real time.

I don't know if you're joking but data is the backbone of ai. All the public data on the internet is the reason why we have Google Deepmind, Alexa, and Siri. Imagine what happens when it's mixed with all your personal data to the nth degree.

Here's the bottom line: if a friend or family member could guess where you are or what you're doing, then ai can do it too. Personal assistants and tech in general is going to get really freaky and really personal over the next decade and Facebook is going to be a front runner.

Given all the watch tech out there it is possible for FB, a non-hardware company, to license and build something useful. As everyone has said, the privacy issues are going to be a huge barrier. FB can promise as much as they want but trust is a hard thing to earn.

We are in charge of the most important part. The money. No one is buying a data collection watch from FB. The reason is the same the phone they released bombed. They are not trustworthy.

So now zuck and friends will know what business you goto based on gps and Bluetooth for targeted ad’s

Every time I think of Social media companies and see news headlines like this I always think about the Movie 'Fight Club'. I don't know why hehe

Wtf, a tracking device on your wrist tagging every activity in every location it can identify; logging every other FB device it proximates with and selling that data to the highest bidder. Competition? It’s a distopian nightmare

There's competition, and there's meaningful competition.

Let's not be deluded as to which category this product will fall into.

Yea I have always wanted the most invasive company in the world knowing what my body is doing at all times while I’m in the location that I am at.. GROSS!!!
