Hard pass. Facebook gets enough info from me and I’m looking forward to the day I can wipe my profile and never use it again. At its basic function, it was great. It’s morphed into something more harmful than helpful, IMO. There’s a balance between providing a service and receiving data in exchange for it, but Facebook is way beyond collecting simple user profiles to generate ad revenue. They’ve shown little interest in beefing up their privacy practices.

So yeah, no Facebook watch for me.

Dear Facepuke, by all means make your own spyware - sorry I mean hardware - and quit trying to pollute other companies’ ecosystems that are actually designed around privacy.

If any actually want to have Facepuke real-time track their pulse and biometric response to every ad and piece of content they view, then by all means - vaya con dios!

I don't know if you're joking but data is the backbone of ai. All the public data on the internet is the reason why we have Google Deepmind, Alexa, and Siri. Imagine what happens when it's mixed with all your personal data to the nth degree.

Here's the bottom line: if a friend or family member could guess where you are or what you're doing, then ai can do it too. Personal assistants and tech in general is going to get really freaky and really personal over the next decade and Facebook is going to be a front runner.
Facebook is a front runner at nothing

It’ll be a frosty day in Hell when I let Facebook track the kinds of things a smart watch can track. You could pay me $5,000 and give it to me for free and I wouldn’t use it. You’d have to be out of your mind to pay even $1 for it knowing they are going to use it to mine your data and you get to pay them for that privilege. I don’t think so.

Who needs an army when fake news alone is enough to incite riots and protests amongst the civilian populace.
Facebook doesn't spread fake news any more than people spread it generally with gossip and advertising, despite it being every tech reporter's favorite scapegoat. You really only talk to friends on there, which are usually people you know IRL. They should be complaining about groupthink paradises like Twitter and Reddit if anything.

I was the og hater of Facebook in 2008 when everyone loved it, only cause it was lame and anti-social. Now people hate them for whatever made-up political reasons.

People laughing about this don’t understand that this is ultimately a good thing for competition and thus a good thing for us. Super glad you lot aren’t in charge of any major decisions :)
Yes because it worked so well with the Facebook phone?

Normally I agree with you but my loathing for Zuckerberg and FB overrides everything else. It started out as a nice service and could have remained that way and still had a thriving business model. It did not have to be turned into a toxic cesspool and operate like an invasive disease. That was a choice.

Is it also going to integrate tightly with my iPhone? Allow me to unlock my iPhone with my mask on? Unlock my MBP and iMac without me having to enter my passwords? Support Apple Pay at points of purchase in nearly every store? Receive a customized list of notifications from whatever iOS apps I choose?

I can see them making a smart watch for the sake of making a smart watch, but to claim it's going to compete with Apple Watch ... there's no way it'll come even close to providing the same kind of robust, integrated experience my Apple Watches have given me.

...It will sell your heartbeat to a bunch of pharmaceutical companies to try and sell you pills.

Who's gonna f... use it?
Barely anyone uses Google Watch/Android Watch/The G Watch whatever it's current name is. And they at least got somewhat of an ecosystem.

Why bother with a FB/IG/WA watch

I think we have an idea of what to expect.
Dear Baby Yoda that thing is horrifying. It makes me grumpy just reading about the idea of having something on my wrist I have to talk nice to to earn gems or some garbage like that.

Rage is what keeps me awake when the caffeine wears off.

(I'm joking of course, but who on earth wants to be goaded to be nice by an ugly cuff on the wrist. It sounds like something out of Brave New World.)

Is this Facebook's attempt at trying to remain relevant? Wow. I left them months ago and I am NOT looking back. Feeling the freedom since leaving this mess.
Never joined Facebook. Never joined Twitter, nor Instagram, nor Tik ToK, or any of the other number of useless wastes of time in the social network sphere. Funny thing is -- my life has been very full and happy as though I never missed a thing. Lots of friends and no lack of family or social connection. Imagine that...
