Those with any problems also need to realize they aren't necessarily entitled to an immediate resolution of the problems. Anyone screaming about recalls and dishonesty at this point is being completely unreasonable. At the very least, Apple should get some patience and maturity while they figure out the scope of the problem and how they plan to deal with it. The iPhone 4 hasn't been out a week yet and all the armchair engineers are clamoring for a recall or something being given to them for free. Its way too early for that. At worst, all someone deserves is their money back when they return the phone.

If I was having issues with mine, I'd be at the front of the return line.

I think part of that is on Apple's response to the situation.

Basically, "there's nothing wrong with us, it's all ATT and the customer. We drink our own Kool-aid, thank you very much."

I wish that everyone that claims the iPhone can't "be a phone" would just take it back. This is the stupidest comment i've ever read and I want to snap everytime I read it.

WHY have I not dropped ONE CALL?

WHY do I get BETTER RECEPTION than before with my 3g?

WHY do people whine instead of taking action?

TAKE YOUR PHONE BACK AND MOVE ON!

My girlfriend wants to know if I'll be visiting the forums so frequently since my iPhone has arrived, and I answered with a resounding no. Once it arrived, it just became my phone. I love it, but there's far more to life than these things boys.

So, you have your phone and you're still here? :)

Don't snap.
Just stop reading or responding to posts that make you snap.

Go forth, and enjoy your phone.

Wanna buy a case and start enjoying your phone? Or would you rather whine about how Apple is evil and hates their customers?

One can do both.
They are not mutually exclusive.
(Even though I don't see people saying apple is evil and they hate their customers...straw man argument)
There is a resolution to this.

Wanna buy a case and start enjoying your phone? Or would you rather whine about how Apple is evil and hates their customers?

First where did I say Apple is evil and hates their customers?

Second, I did buy the Apple's case. And a Microcell. Unfortunately that case isn't all that great and the Microcell only works in my home -- and the iPhone STILL drops calls.

I just expect Apple to stand by its premium product. I should expect less because it might interfere with other's enjoyment.

I don't get all the complaining, yes I have the signal dropping, but if apple designed it into the product like everyone says, then I'm getting what I paid for.
As long as my iPhone is within factory specifications, I see no reason to return it. It is as apple intended it to be, if they want to change that, I'll do whatever they tell me to update it.

The simple truth is:
1) Apple is the best.
2) Apple makes the best phones.
3) I need a phone.

I don't even look at phones that aren't iphones anymore, and since they only make this one, and the one I used to have.. I might as well get the new one. Even if it drops calls, it can't drop more calls than a non-apple phone. People aren't lining up to buy phones that aren't made by apple, because they aren't the best.

All other phones aren't as good, so there is no reason to complain. I'll use my phone for this year, and next year I'll buy whatever new thing they come out with.

Those are all great points. But the ultimate argument here is not wether or not apple is the best at what they do but the fact that Jobs has to know by now that their is either a design flaw or software flaw. And he has yet to acknowledge it.......I owned the 3g and just upgraded to the iphone 4 and had absolultly no dropped calls with the 3g like I do the 4. I think apple needs to stand behind their products instead of giving us the " there is no reception problem, stay tuned" answer.......

Shambo will you autograph my iPhone?

Also is it true you hooked up with Russell?

LOL this thread is awesome. I would agree, but the OP is Shambo.

I would argue that idiots are ruining Apple, not rabid Fanboys, although they're not much better.

Funny how fanboyism hasn't destroyed sports. I'm a cubs fan and they can do no wrong in my eyes. When your a fan your a fan.

Most people are fanboys and fangals to some extent whether it be sports , Cars ,Movies, Books,Etc. This is nothing new and people act like it is.

IF you want extreme fanboism which i don't see an issue with go to Fenway park or better yet wear a Yankees hat in boston and see what happens :D

Yeah.. when I pull into a parking lot, I see how many cars with HTC stickers in the back window? Nobody cares.
Perhaps HTC owners have a little something called Egoism, and don't like making themselves moving advertisment billboards for people that don't even pay them.

After all, the point of the thread is how fanbois, are in fact, spinless, useless, and detrimental to the rest of us, idiots.

The only bad part of fanboys is they're bullies who reflexively go after anyone who has something bad to say about a product they own or a the company that makes it. Even if it means turning on their own.

At a point people have to accept a product for what it is, and that's fine. The trouble here is the device is a phone that can't reliably make phone calls. That's kind of a big deal.

Is it just me or is anyone else sick to the back teeth of the blatant fanboyism towards anything Apple? These idiots are helping to prevent what are essentially good satisfactory products becoming great ones by accepting anything faulty Apple releases as acceptable and useable, and whatever Mr Jobs says as gospel.

This has been perfectly illustrated this week with the release of the iPhone 4. Where, believe it or not, Apple have actually designed, developed, mass produced, and released to the general public a telecommunication device that cannot telecommunicate, especially when held in a certain manner. However instead of, as any genuinely concerned company would do, initiating an immediate mass recall and refund, Apple and their fanboys are telling us that, yet again, the problem lies with the user, not the device. So it has now been left to the consumer to adapt and change their most natural telephone posture.

Again maybe it is just me but whenever I spend over £600 on a new shiny electrical device I expect it to 'just work'.

Thumbs down to fanboyism.

The link in your signature is possibly the most pointless webpage on the entire internet. Possibly.

Irony of fanboy signature noted as well.

Carry on.

That ^ by far dagomike is the best thing someone has said on here all day!

See you talk like you speak for the masses my phone works great. Not a single problem. If you have a problem with something with a refund policy you return it. It's easy and doesn't require all this drama. If I buy a tv and it doesn't work right I return it. No need to act like all those same TVS have the same problem.

If Apple would allow me to keep returning phones until I got one that worked, I would. But they stopped issuing exchanges. I'm on my second phone with a third on order. Two buddies have problems with theirs. That's 4/4 in my world, perhaps 5/5 after next week or whenever.

So, really the choice is to either find/hope for a solution or dump the iPhone 4. Most people on here don't want to do the later so they do the former. That's what all these threads are about.

Telling people to take it or leave it is just quelling the discussion. It makes people uncomfortable to hear bad things about their phone or whatever. Too bad. The phone you want works to your satisfaction. Everyone else wants a solution either from Apple or DIY, and I don't think that's unreasonable.

Like I said, this isn't some nitpick. This isn't a screen that's too warm or a stuck pixel or speaker 10db too quiet. It's a phone that can't complete a call under reasonable circumstances.

I strongly agree. I'm heavily invested in Apple in many ways. It pains me to see them release a product with what appears to be a serious design problem.

But it pains me more that so many people don't seem to care. They don't realize why people have become such fans of Apple. Its because they produce great (not just good) products. The products are the best. And they're easiest to use. The overall user experience is the best available and people are willing to pay for the best.

But that means when Apple messes up, they need to fix it. Apple consumers should not apologize for Apple and let them get away with creating a shoddy product and worse, not even standing behind it.

Letting Apple slide on a serious defect on their most important product will tarnish the brand. People will slowly no longer think of Apple as having the best products with best support.

Anyone who uses the word fanboy or fanboyism is a geek, loser, nerd etc.

my wife was good looking and cool when i met her when i was 17. when she was 25, she was 20 lbs heavier and stopped cooking dinner every night. when i made love to her at night, i just turned off the lights and pictured her in her old glory. now, she's 180 lbs and yells at me for spending all of our money on electronics.... anyway, the lesson here is apple is now 20 lbs overweight and all you ****ers don't realize what can happen. if you choose to just close your eyes and hope for the best, you'll wake up one day and hate yourself for not keeping the bitch in check when you could.
