Can't wait for the remaster of episodes I, II and III.

Actually I'd sooner eat glass.

I used to be in The Empire Strikes Back crowd but the more mature I get, the more I love the original film. I still revert to the little girl whose jaw was on the floor during the death star trench run. And it's just a splendidly entertaining movie.
The original film is fantastic. The only obvious ways Empire is significantly better than the original are
1) Dialog (The level of camp in "A New Hope" is pretty staggering)
2) Direction (George Lucas is not a film director, he is a story teller. Films he directs are significantly worse)
3) Soundtrack (John Williams' work in the original film is fantastic, but the Imperial March and Yoda's theme are arguably Williams' best and more underrated, respectively.)

Boy, you're right about the music. The score is absolutely amazing, what a phenomenal soundtrack. That gorgeous choir and soaring strings that kicks in when Luke's fighting Vader is sensational. "if you will not turn to the Dark Side, then perhaps she will!" The Emperor's theme as well, of course.

John Williams scores are amazing. Just the music is sufficient to carry tons of emotion. I'm not a big fan of the Star Wars prequels, but the scores are just as good as his other works. I can feel the emotions that are being conveyed better in the score than in the visuals and dialog.

They are ALL good. Except the first one or as some call it, episode four. That ones amazing.

Ps.. I'm not including 1,2,3 in ALL ;)

So that means you'll be voting Jedi? With the evil Emperor? All the fleet? Loads of Star Destroyers? Second Death Star?

Please? I can't be the only one here who prefers RoTJ!

I couldnt wait for that one to come out as I was *cough* am a huge Jedi fan :D

Star Wars was my childhood and I had an amazing time because of it!

Just a little fun I suppose. I'd be interested to get your views!

My housemate and I are in constant disagreement about which of the 6 films we prefer, or which one is better. He says Empire because he thinks it's overall a more consistent film, though I definitely prefer Jedi - notwithstanding a few Ewok scenes, Jabba the Hutt and the Emperor are just sensational.

So, I'll put it to the community. Which do you prefer? Are you a stickler for the original cuts, or when you sit down to watch it, would you rather watch one of the remasters? Love the debates about who shot first, when Greedo didn't shoot at all in the original cut? Maybe you prefer seeing the Wampa chewing into Luke's tauntaun, rather than the distant screams in the ice cave? Prefer the smooth Jazz to the Yub Nub song?

Or do you prefer the prequels? Darth Maul's your favourite Sith? Perhaps you don't like sand; granted, it's coarse, and rough, and irritating, and it gets everywhere. Or maybe General Grievous was shorter than you expected?

We're not here to judge!

For a bonus question - what's your favourite from the prequels/sequels, and why?

Han should shoot first as he originally did. Anyone who is accustomed to violence knows shooting hitting or moving first is not what really happens. There is a subliminal message sent that is faster in one party than the other. To onlookers it looks like one went first but infact they both go at the same time. Just that ones neural pathways are faster.

Ok not always. Sometimes one just knows there is no way out, that the situation will only get worse from here on and their experience of violence tells them to go (now) where as the other less experienced one is still in ritual build up to shooting hitting or moving. George Lucas made a mistake with the re edits as Han was way more experienced than gredo hence he shoots first as he is one step ahead.

My favorite thing about any star wars film is the depiction of anything "Empire".

As a child I used to be pro rebellion but now I'm older I share your love of the empire. They really are great movies!

There's also an interesting fan theory about the Ewoks. As you mentioned, they were going to cook up our protagonists for a feast in 3PO's honour, so they're certainly not afraid to try human/Wookie flesh. However, at the end of the film, you see them with loads of Stormtrooper helmets ... but no Stormtroopers. The theory goes that they ate them

Wow never thought of that. Thanks for the new imagery haha

Agreed, that was an ameuturish visual and a case of a clarification that was not needed.

Jaba was meant to be a man in the original story. So I read. Explains the scene better. Adding cgi jaba later was a hack job :(

Couldn't agree more. What a fantastic film ANH is. The trench run scene still looks fab, really on the edge of your seat stuff. And it's models, so of course it's going to look real - no issues with dated CGI here.

As I read more of these comments I keep thinking "I should change my vote". Every time I watch IV, V or VI, I finish the film thinking "damn how isn't this my favourite one?" The OT is all so, so good.

The score is the best thing about the prequels. The battle droid march music in Episode I (that was used in 2 and 3 as well) is absolutely sensational. Not to even get started on that soaring choir on the Darth Maul fight. Gives me absolute chills just thinking about it. He's a genius.

Empire was the best for one reason, the bad guys won and Luke found out Darth was his Father!

IMHO this was something in my teenager years that shocked everyone! The good guys weren't the lucky superheros everyone thought that they were!

Ugh I can't begin to imagine people's reactions when they first saw that in the cinema. Must have been amazing.

I still get shivers of emotion when viewing the end of A New Hope amazingly... directed by George Lucas, the images, the sacrifice, Luke you switched off your targeting computer!, "The force is strong with this one", "commence primary ignition", Hans redeeming himself, Vader (What?) then spiraling out of control, "Standby, standby!", the X-Wings pulling away from the Death Star as it turns into a spectacular chrysanthemum, the awards ceremony, Leia smiles and Hans winks, all complemented by William's incredibly complementary score. Where's my hanky? :D

And here I thought the world had forgotten Biggs and Wedge. Anyone with an adjective/noun surname (Strum Brightblade, Biggs Darklighter:cool:) is destined for greatness. It is known:p. Biggs didn't blow up the Deathstar, but his contribution was no less important. He took the laser blast that had Skywalker written all over it.

Biggs and Wedge's names along with all the other rebel participants can be found on the monument to the Battle of Yavin. :)

Wedge was the coolest. Made an appearance in all the OT films, and he never died.

Poor old Biggs as well :( I guess they didn't have TIE fighters pursuing them in Beggar's Canyon (well, unless you've played Rebel Assault I for the PC :D)

Do they cut Jar-Jar out of it?

It'd take more than a lack of Jar Jar to make that a good film.

But by gum it'd go a long a way towards helping.

As far as Binks is concerned, does no one understand the concept of "comic relief"?

Jar Jar is neither humorous nor does he have any witty dialogue. 3PO is a great comic relief showing off is versatility by rampaging as combat droid, playing a damsel in distress, arguing with R2 and so on. And because he is a protocol droid, he can spout witticism in 300 different languages.
