Just got mine.
I excitedly opened the box, and everything looks great.
Turned it on , no problems
This is my 2nd Mac ever (moving from a 2007 MBP), so when the start-up asked if I wanted to transfer my stuff from another Mac, I was like, "sure sounds great"
Ugh...big mistake. this is my first experience with Migration Assistant
Currently showing 23hrs 56mins remaining and no option to cancel

So now have to wait another whole day before I can really play around with it.

As a side note, this was shipped from Newark CA, and the label on the box does say "Assembled in the USA", so it looks like those assembled in the USA are likely shipped from Fremont or Newark, CA.

ugh, as I type this, the time changed to 25hr remaining.

@plasmaj: Please keep us posted on how thing go generally with your new baby, and if you experience any of the various issues mentioned on this forum in any capacity at all. Mine is still enroute to me, but it shipped out from Fremont/Newark, CA, just like yours. :)

Yeah... Sorry to hear your ordeal.
Generally I chose install a fresh copy whether in Windows, Linux, or OSX. That way you don't end up with a bunch of things you don't need or things that no longer need to be there.
It always takes a while for me to migrate over what I need, but I can do it piecemeal. That is part of fun of a fresh system. Kind of makes me house clean a bit.
Many times I just back my entire system onto another bootable drive and hook it up to my new system. That way I can switch back and forth when I want to. Migrate what I want. Eventually when I quite going back and forth and migrating stuff, I put the drive in a drawer in case of catastrophe.

I finally decided to kill the migration using CMD-Q. Everything booted up great. I will just move the files I want over later.

No issues yet. I checked for image retention with nothing that I could notice. Slight yellow tinge using a test, but not really noticeable. No dead pixels that I could see. Everything seems great. The fusion drive is definitely noticeable. Not as zippy as I thought it would be, but definitely an improvement. My HDD is the Seagate (ST1000DM003), but I really did not care much on that.

It seems to me that European times are generally about a week to 1.5 weeks behind the US.
Seems like for us it is about just less than 3 weeks when it was averaging 4 weeks.
Europe seemed to be 5-6 weeks and is now back to around 4 weeks.

Hope yours ships very soon and that it has no problems. Seems like there are a lot of them with screen issues on this forum. Glad I got 3 extra years of apple care for free with mine.

received mine earlier today. no problems, no bleeding, no dead pixels no cosmetic problems as well.. all is good! loving my new iMac

Got mine on Saturday, replaced my old iMac (which is now a media player/Internet browser in the kitchen).

The 27" machine I upgraded to is exceptional. It doesn't make a noise, it is incredibly fast and looks fantastic as a feat of engineering.

I've been running InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop (all CS6) on it all weekend and it didn't break sweat. Start up time for these apps is remarkable. It's literally a couple of seconds!

I'm finding it a pleasure to work on. I spend my day working on a 27" Cinema Display hooked up to a Mac Pro, but that is nothing compared to the iMac. My new machine is like a C Class Mercedes, effortlessly taking care of business.

I ordered my first iMac (27" 2.9) on 12 Feb. The estimated delivery was 19 March - 3 April. However, I got an email on Saturday saying it was shipped and now it says "Delivery scheduled by final carrier, see estimated delivery date" when I log into my Apple account. The estimate is 15th March now.

I'm hoping it might come even sooner.

Edit: Success it arrived yesterday (12 March)!
