FedEx Issues Service Update Noting Delayed Shipment Tracking Information

Great news from fedex...

I just got off the phone with Fedex...

I did get the email from Apple stating that I would receive my iPhone 4 today.

My online status on Fedex.com shows "at dest sort facility" but when I entered my tracking info into the automated tracking system over the phone, my status is "on the way from sort facility to regional fedex station at zip code 89XXX."

I then asked the automated phone system to speak with customer service.

A nice lady came on the line, I gave her my tracking number and my Fedex account number and she looked up the info. She said "the commitment shows a June 24 delivery date.". I the read her the email from Apple.

She then offered to call my local Fedex station and speak with a dispatch manager. She put me on hold and came back two minutes later and told me that it is on the truck for delivery.

Glad I took the time to research this.

I'm in the Las Vegas area, btw.
 
Just got mine delivered 2:30PM EST. Delivery always said 23rd by 3PM EST. Tracking status said Jun 23, 2010 5:00 AM Departed FedEx location NEWARK all day long, then just now it updated to show Jun 23, 2010 8:20 AM At local FedEx facility UNION, NJ....... even though it's in my hands now.

Signature was not required on my "standard overnight" service package.
 
Ugh this fedex thing is so frustrating!

My tracker didn't even tell me that it was in the United States yet. But it came to my door at 10:30 am today. That would have been FANTASTIC if I had known that it would be here so soon. Instead, I was out (the one time all day that I needed to go out mind you) and I come back with the stupid fedex "Sorry we missed you" notice.

I mean it's not that big of a deal, I'll still get the phone tomorrow and everything, but it's so frustrating that I COULD have had the phone this morning if only their stupid trackers didn't stop working.

Ehhh theres my rant.
 
I was able to get information from the FedEx CS Chat application. The rep informed me that it was out on the truck, and they had until 7 pm. The rep then informed me that the contract with Apple says they have until June 26 to deliver.

I certainly hope the fedex guy shows up before 7 (today)!
 
Apparently, FedEx automated phone tracking system is more efficient: whereas my online status is still says Hongkong, the phone system said it's on its route to the FedEx local facility within my zip code and will be delivered on schedule tomorrow.
 
Are these Apple or AT&T deliveries, or both?

Mine is due today from AT&T... FedEx status just updated to say it's in Oakland.

Maybe the wrong thread for this, but more likely to hit somebody who knows...

Can AT&T-ordered upgrades (same number, same plan) be activated just with iTunes, or do I really have to call them like it says in the e-mail I got, which I can't because I won't be home before 6pm (9pm EST) when the phone line apparently closes. I thought I read somewhere else that you only have to call them for new activations or number ports...
 
I just received an update from FedEx tracking now at 1:41pm CST. The update shows this:

At local FedEx facility
PLANO, TX

So the tracking updates are about 8 hours behind.
 
Congratz all you lucky new iPhone 4 owners. Didn't get to reserve my iphone early enough because of the server problem but was lucky enough to preorder before they cut it off. Mine will be shipping early July.
 
does FedEx require a signature?

I ordered mine through ATT Premier....does FedEx require a signature or will they drop it off?

Hate being at work right now.
 
I think the difference between this and Christmas delivery is most of the iPhone buyers are tech savvy, internet connected, and OBSESSIVE!

People don't obsess over Christmas presents because you are usually getting them for someone else, or you are not supposed to open until the 25th.
 
I was wondering what was going on!

For the past 3 days, FedEx has been saying my CTO Mac Mini was still in Shenzhen, China, however it was still scheduled to show up tomorrow. This explains it.

Oh yeah! Mine just arrived FedEx! AWESOME! I am going to unbox it soon then give a review on my blog.

Their Memphis sorting center can handle 500,000 packages per hour. Even on a non-holiday day, they handle more than a million packages. So, I repeat, I don't think the number of packages is the issue.

Now, Apple fanboys hitting the "track package" link every 30 seconds, that might be the problem.
 
Phone is HERE

After speaking with 3 different FedEx reps, who adamantly told me it would be delivered tomorrow, the iPhone4 is HERE! YES!!

What is weird, the FedEx truck was pulling up WHILE the rep was telling me it would be delivered tomorrow! HAAAAAA!

Mine was shown as shipped by UPS out of Texas at 1:30pm today..odd...over night air saver..which means it will be delivered to the store between 3:30pm-4:00pm.
 
called FedEx for update

my tracking information has been frozen since yesterday evening

"Departed FedEx location OAKLAND, CA"

Called the IPD service at 1800 455 4588, and was directly connected to a representative who said that the package was on a delivery van.
