I'm sitting in my back yard by the pool, reading this thread on my iPad, and I hear a delivery truck pull up and stop in front of my house!

PSYCHE!

Never been so disappointed to see Big Brown deliver something to the neighbor.

FWIW, my status still shows "at dest sort facility" with a delivery date of 6/24. Yes, I did get the golden ticket email from Apple saying that it would be delivered today.

Seriously, is this what it's come to, really?

Now googling shrinks in the Vegas area.

mine arrived at about 10AM New York.

Hooked up to iTunes and went through the std upgrade process.

One Complaint: It loaded all apps in alphabetical order....spent the last hour resorting and setting up folders.

BTW the Camera is much improved!

Everything restored

except apps and my password for voicemail (which I don't even remember). Question: When I click Sync Apps in iTunes I get this: "All exisiting applications and their data on the iPhone will be replaced with applications from this iTunes library."

Does that mean I lose: Contacts, Photos, Calendar

During the busiest day of the Christmas season, FedEx handles upwards of 10 million packages. I have a hard time believing a few hundred thousand iPhone packages are that big of a deal.

During the Christmas season they hire thousands of seasonal workers to help with the impending load. They are not prepared for this level of package shipment the rest of the year.

I guess I should have believed that email from Apple that assured me my phone would be delivered today. I never saw any evidence that FedEx's tracking site wasn't working and their site said my phone was still in a distribution center. The FedEx truck never makes it out here to the hinterlands this early in the day so it seemed safe to step out for a few minutes to grab some lunch. Naturally, just as I was returning I saw the FedEx truck leaving. I literally missed him by 30 seconds!

It seems Apple has a better handle on FedEx's shipping schedule that FedEx does. In fact, it seems Apple is the only one in all this who has their head screwed on straight.

Call Fedex, CS seems to have more current information.

Bah, I called FedEx and the lady looked it up and said that they're getting slammed with calls from everybody who wants their iPhone... then she said that nope, no delivery for me today. I'll get it tomorrow. Some of the bulk shipments were released yesterday while the rest were released today.

Luck of the draw I guess.

My current FedEx status is showing that phone is still at my local sort facility, however it was just delivered. Yay. But I have to wait til I'm home to activate - I want this day to end quickly...I think I'm starting to feel a little under the weather, may need to go home sick... :)

FedEx: What're you DOING?

My phone was still at a dest sort facility, and I called FedEx and they told me that the iPhone won't be delivered until tomorrow by 4:30. After I got off the phone my tracking status mysteriously changed to a local destination facility a few miles from my house!!!!

What in the world is going on at both Apple & FedEx? Is anybody else having the same issue?

Mine is still at sort facility, it's 12:45 central, still says what it said yesterday, will be delivered by 3pm.

One BIG question, for those who have received it with FedEx, are they requiring signature?

I'm not home, my 15 year old son his, but I'm scared he might not hear the doorbell or be too involved in a loud xbox game to hear it. The tracking doesn't say it does. I called FedEx yesterday to ask, and the rep said it was surprising it doesn't say it does, but maybe it does on the label.

Called a live operator,
She said it's on the truck for delivery and had a stock script,
We apologize for the online tracking not updating.....
Yes. I signed the pre authorization, have the front door ajar
and a USB cord pluggend in and iTunes open!

Just read the first post of this thread and heard the familiar sound of a truck. Hello Mr. Fedex man! Seeing double! After a weird ordering process, I am receiving a day before the suckas (I was one of them the last two years) wait in line!!!

Just got my phone :) fed ex guy had two in his hand and two more in the truck for people in my apt complex.. Per fed ex guy "I should have taken the day off!!"

Mine actually showed departed Memphis at like 3 this morning and that was the last status. Wasnt expecting it today because I am in Richmond, VA but to my surprise it just showed up.

If you call FedEx they are capable of finding out more info then the webiste. Tracking number last showed it leaving Memphis almost a day ago but they told me right away that it landed and was in VA. She then called the local FedEx hub to see the exact status of my package which it is in a truck for delivery. My guess is that depending on which FedEx rep you talk to determines if they give you a B/S response or are actually helpful.
Did you ask them to call the local facility or did they volunteer to call?

Also during the Christmas season they don't 600,000 fanatical package trackers clicking "refresh" every two seconds. Whoo hoo... I just got a phone call from home saying it came. [taking off the rest of the day]!

Waiting in line

I preordered, but I will almost miss waiting in line.

I'm with you, I miss it a little but not enough to go do it if I don't have to, I met some cool people and we were able to make it fun. I pre ordered last yr and had my 3GS on launch day and now I'm one of the lucky ones to have got mine (iPhone 4 32G) yesterday, activation & sync went smooth last night and have been playing with it ever since so go get in line if you don't have one it's worth it!!!

How long is the line?

download the free Line Snob iPhone app http://itunes.com/app/linesnob . Post from the apple stores within the today category on the Line Snob app and discover how long the lines are at Apple store across the country.

iPad app and major update has been submitted as well, waiting for review

My FedEx Driver asked for signature. My tracking info says "indirect signature required" so it doesn't have to be you, anyone can sign for it... :)

Wow, those San Francisco dudes are wearing coats. If you wore a coat here (Raleigh, NC) today, you'd wind up with a heat stroke.

I hear you brother. It's broiling out there today. As for SF, someone (Mark Twain?) once said, the coldest winter they ever knew was a summer spent in San Francisco.

My phone's status was still in Memphis until about 10 minutes ago when it said it arrived here at the Dist facility this morning at 6:48. Good thing I went home at lunch and taped the pre-sig form to my front door just in case. (usual deliveries are later in the day around my neighborhood)

I got up this morning convinced it wouldn't get here until tomorrow, but reading these forums (real productive day I'm having at work ) convinced me that it just may possibly make it today. And now that it arrived in my area so early this morning, the possibility is increasing.

I hope I have a nice package waiting for me when I get home.

FedEx is definitely wrong! Just got mine (FedEx states: Jun 23, 2010 3:30 AM
Departed FedEx location NEWARK, NJ) But that is wrong... as it currently syncing! :D:D:D:D:D

Activation is Delayed! (stated that I'd receive an email once it was ready?).:eek::eek::eek:

Same boat with you

You guys are lucky, when I check my tracking number I get this...

Shipment information sent to FedEx
Please check back later for shipment status or subscribe for e-mail notifications

Shipment Dates

Anticipated ship date

Jun 23, 2010

Estimated delivery

Jun 24, 2010 by 3:00 PM

Destination

BINGHAMTON, NY

Same, except that I'm in New York, NY. I think they're intentionally holding some back. I wouldn't care except that by getting it so late, tomorrow afternoon, we may have problems activating it with the tons of others who will by then also have theirs.

Inaccurate tracking

I was wondering what was going on with the tracking updates. One phone had been in San Antonio--delivery location since yesterday. Another, ordered 7 minutes later was still in Alaska for most of yesterday.

Today, updates were real slow to load and neither was on a truck for delivery. By 10:00 this morning, I got word from home that both had been delivered. Updates were still wrong.

Just glad the phones arrived.
