Is there nothing that Apple users won't whine about? $30 friggin' dollars.

Probably not.
We should start offering pre-fixes to threads and choices should included "Entitlement", "Absurd", and "Unable to Make Personal Decisions" to name a few.

I feel like users who paid to upgrade to Lion are getting ripped off. I upgraded to Lion because I am a huge apple supporter and loved the idea of a new OS for $30. Now with the release of Mountain Lion just a short year later, I'm regretting my decision of purchasing OS Lion. Now if I want to get 10.8 I will have to pay $50 while those who didn't upgrade only pay $20. I at least expected there to be a discount for Lion users. Any other Lion users regretting the upgrade?

Retardism (is that even a word?) at it’s finest.

You have had a whole year of value for your $30. You also got value out of your self-perception as a "huge Apple supporter".

You also should research the idea of "sunk costs". You are actually only paying $20 for Mountain Lion.

They released Lion saying its better than SL . . .how it turned out?
For that we paid $30 .Fine. Now its time we should get a good update. All this things that they are giving in ML is nothing but tiny increments in the same Lion code. Why would somebody be willing to pay as upgrade no matter how cheap it is when it could've been an update. One year in software development is not a very long duration...

I just ate these mini chipotle cheddar cheese potato bites from Trader Joe's and I'm still hungry. I feel ripped off, they said they were filling.

You know what's awesome though, you can choose not to upgrade. All of us will enjoy the ML features that we are willing to pay for while you stay with Lion and not use the features that you obviously don't see value in. Everyone wins :)

+1
BTW
Everybody wins. Even I will get a copy of ML anyhow but whether I will spend money or not I can't predict :p

A quick question - Can I run iLife application copied from Lion in ML in case I choose a clean install ?

I just wish I knew last year how pointless it was to buy Lion for $30 when they would drop basically an updated version this summer $10 cheaper.

Er, what?

All software "updates" are "updated versions" of the previous release. Hence why they're updates (and not brand new software).

I usually eat 4 and that satisfies me most of the time. Sometimes I eat 5. Once I ate 6. I've never felt ripped off though.

You guys are such complainers it isn't even funny.

And some of you guys just keep throwing throwing your money at Apple no questions asked. The OP has a legitimate point. Will that extra cash break the bank? Of course not but it's still money.

and minutes later he goes to local market buys a sixpack without even thinking. Yeah ...

No he doesn't. lol. You literally enjoyed Lion for a whole year while everyone else dealt with Snow Leopard. You made that choice to pay because you wanted to enjoy those features. Why should you get a discount for enjoying Lion while everyone else was stuck with SL? Do you get a discount for having the iPhone 4s when you go in to purchase the iPhone 5 later this year? Not at all. In fact you probably won't be eligible for upgrade pricing while those who stuck with the 4 will be. Technology moves fast. When you buy tech(hardware or software) then be ready for the next version to be not too far behind(and yes, devs like to be paid for their work). If you don't like it don't upgrade but be prepared to be stuck on one OS for a good while because they won't stop releasing new (paid) versions any time soon. And the cycle will continue.

I'm not arguing that $20 isn't a great deal because it is. I just wish I knew last year how pointless it was to buy Lion for $30 when they would drop basically an updated version this summer $10 cheaper. I would have kept snow leopard and waited for this. You would think those with OSX Lion would get a $10 upgrade or something. I think the majority of users didn't upgrade to Lion and its benefitting them now. I guess the logical thing would be to just wait until next summers update.

I don't get it. Who forces you to buy the upgrade?

Then wait tell next summer to get a New OS from Apple then, I mean your complaining about $20 more, if you can afford a Mac Computer then you can afford $30 or less for a OS Upgrade Each year. Like people are saying would you rather pay $200 for each Windows update, I mean you dont even get that many new functions with the updated OS.

$20 sure as hell beats $200+ from Windows. Plus, its as simple as downloading it from the App Store and installing it. So, besides it being ridiculously cheap, its also easier than Windows. I say, bring it on!

EDIT: plus, you don't need to buy it. Stick with Lion. Its decent.

Version of windows are generally atleast 10 times more of an upgrade than the recent version of mac os which have usually been not much more than an api or two and an update to a few apps. Also 200 dollars is not what an upgrade of windows usually ends up costing.

That's just stupid. You never should buy another OS X update again because for all you know there could be another update out the next year that will only cost $10! Better to just hold off for a few years.
