Seems so, I just tried it and it asked it I wanted to continue from cloud storage. I started on my iPad and now am on my iPhone. ??If you have this game both on your Iphone and Ipad, can you go back and forth between the two to play the same saved game?
Yeah iw Ould be happy to support them by buying it on my Mac BUT a game this old for £34.99 is nuts!!! and that's the only reason I don't buy big games on Mac! Price it like the iPad and iPhone which is just £12.99 and I will buy it!!!!Amazing. More stuff like this should be done for gaming on the Apple ecosystem and not the disappointing Apple Arcade.
Having Apple such big user base and powerful hardware I just don’t understand how it is not more appealing for developers.
Those of you who chose to game on Apple ecosystem..: do you just settle for whatever random games that are released in the platform such as this Alien game which is mediocre compared to others? Do you have a primary gaming platform (eg xbox or PlayStation) and just use your iPads sporadically? Or do you use alternative methods to keep using your apple devices as only device (eg using Parallels to run Windows on your Mac)?
I’d like to simplify my digital ecosystem to just Apple but I like gaming and the native games are just so underwhelming compared to what’s out there. Why do we get this rather mediocre Alien game and not a AAA ported? Wouldn’t a very popular AAA sell more?
None of the PS5 exclusives were enough to stay on Sony’s platform?I don’t really game on my Mac.
Id like to but there’s just not enough there. I do buy whatever new games come out on the Mac Metro exodus, this Alien game - mostly to just support the publisher.
I used to have a PS5 But I’ve moved on to a gaming laptop. Windows is as bad as I remember it, but playing games on a pc is great. The graphics are better than my PS5 - my razor has a RTX 3070 and I can use keyboard and mouse for everything.
I don’t believe there will ever be a lot of AAA games for the mac. So us Mac users have to have two machines if we really want to play lots of games.
And probably the gaming laptop costs double what the ps5 costs I assumeNone of the PS5 exclusives were enough to stay on Sony’s platform?
That's because AS Mac is not a profitable platform for gaming. This is why many popular mobile apps and games aren't even available on macOS despite that Mac is now ARM.Stop making excuses. Apple Silicon developement kits were out for a long time. Feral would have had ample oppertunity to port their games over to AS but they didn't. They focused on iOS instead. Therefore my point about macOS gaming stands.
It's not available on macOS.Does it also run on
Apple Silicon Macs? (M1 Pro)

To be more precise this version isn’t available but the original version is available via Rosetta. It's not available on macOS.
I bought it on launch, watched a 20 minute walk-through, sharted myself, and never played it as too scaredThis game was and is a technical and artistic achievement that greatly respects the source material. Only problem for me was that in a home theatre environment late at night it was just persistent dread and chronic stress. Fine for many people but I can think of better ways to entertain myself than changing my underwear every twenty minutes.

Most iPadOS apps aren't available on macOS apps stores. Mac using ARM doesn't really mean you can use all mobile apps directly. Can't iPadOS apps run on M1 MacOS machines?
Yeah ok. I guess another way to look at it is this. Windows keeps backwards compatibility support for many many years. As a positive, there are a hell of a lot of businesses that are running in house legacy software that they wrote decades ago, the software still works, and would cost them an absolute fortune to rewrite. Thus, the Windows backwards compatibility helps them stay in business. The down side of this is that Windows is hamstrung with a mess of old tech ideas, things like DLL hell, things like 32 bit. Or correct me if I'm wrong, but I have a feeling they have even kept backwards compatibility for 16 bit or even 8 bit software? It really makes it hard for MS to move on with massive improvements to Windows.Yes. All of it.
Right now they sell games in the App Store that require Rosetta 2. What if they stop supporting it? (And it will happen). Power PC games stopped working on intel when Rosetta 1 support stopped. Then there were intel 32 bit games that stopped working on 64 bit and now there is Apple Silicon. OpenGL also got deprecated a while ago and I don’t know how long that will be supported etc.
I agree about application software. Things need to move on after a few years. I hate the DLL hell. My Bootcamp is cluttered with a zillion specific versions of frameworks.Yeah ok. So MS has gone with the backwards compatibility route for Windows, and Apple has gone the other way w macOS. Which is best? Well, horses for courses, but the Apple way sure as hell is cleaner. (We won't talk about the mess of bugs that constantly come out in Apple production software these days, as that's completely another issue, tragic as it may be).
I'm just curious, is it not possible to find emulators to run these old games with?
Btw, I am still running Mojave. Partly because I am also still running a 2015 Retina MBP and I know for sure Mojave runs well on it; partly because every newer version of macOS is littered with horrid bugs, whilst Mojave is pretty damn stable; and partly because it's the last macOS to support 32-bit, and I am still running a 32-bit program that I like, and is no longer being updated (although, I'm pretty sure someone has now put out a 64-bit clone of it, I just haven't tested it yet, and tbh, my next mac will be an M-series, so I will need to check there's an AS variant, or find a substitute). So in reality, mostly because in my opinion, Mojave is the most stable, bug free, current version of macOS at the moment.
It was ported to Mac originally:I have this for PC. Would love to see it ported for MacOS. Given it runs on iPad I'm thinking this isn't too far off.
This is a AAA game, albeit one that is seven years old. Still amazing that they can get it running on a phone. Those of you who chose to game on Apple ecosystem..: do you just settle for whatever random games that are released in the platform such as this Alien game which is mediocre compared to others? Yeah ok. For me this game is rather AA but I get your point. My point was if resources are going to be invested in porting a game, why not the best there are? This is a AAA game, albeit one that is seven years old. Still amazing that they can get it running on a phone.
If you have the Internet speed, I’d recommend looking into cloud gaming, as that’s a way of playing some quality games on iOS devices.
And the best thing, that’s just THAT walk-through. You can’t even count on having the same scares at the same points! For those that enjoy this type of play, this one’s one of the best of that type.I bought it on launch, watched a 20 minute walk-through, sharted myself, and never played it as too scared![]()
They’ve said they don’t plan to port this Apple Silicon native version to macOS.I have this for PC. Would love to see it ported for MacOS. Given it runs on iPad I'm thinking this isn't too far off.
No, but, then again, no one’s trying to make it better (say, by correcting a few bugs in the artwork and/or repainting it with new more vibrant pigments!)But games are supposed to be timeless pieces of art. They don’t throw the Mona Lisa out of the Louvre because it isn’t 64 bit![]()
There a lot of awesome games on Apple Arcade, even if the majority are indie games. They are FUN. Some are quite high end considering they runs on iPhones, iPads and AppleTV too. These are the AAA type games we should be getting on Apple Arcade or the app store in general, but what types of games do we get? 2D games and candy crush. The iPhone is capable now of outputting some great visuals but most games are just crap.
Meh, I tried all of them but they are crap and boring. There a lot of awesome games on Apple Arcade, even if the majority are indie games. They are FUN. Some are quite high end considering they runs on iPhones, iPads and AppleTV too.
