What??? Do you have any idea how many car company's work with technology company's these day's? Bang And Olufsen, Bowers And Wilkins, Microsoft, Android, Apple, Sony, Bose.... they are all involved with the motor industry as they are the best solution to developing systems specific for the driver.

And as for Ferrari's own solution, from what I've seen it's pretty dreadful to use the st nav etc. They could do with some Apple help.

In fact, in car infotainment systems is a market Apple MUST be a part of because it is getting bigger and bigger and bigger..... they would be very wise to take a piece of the pie and it will help them to grow. How is that a bad thing and devaluing Ferrari? Are you going to be a badge snob and not buy a Ferrari because it has an Apple infotainment system??

Actually what Ferrari should be doing is removing all the computer rubbish making anyone drive like Schumacher and concentrate on the infotainment tech instead. I have seen far too many reviews of Ferrari's these day's rubbish them due to the amount of computers they have driving the car for you, NOT like they used to be, like the F40 with no driver aids at all and many people love it for that. That is where it should be shame on you Ferrari.

It's a gimmick. The same as, " Buy this civic, get a free iPod! ". Except you spend hundreds of thousands of dollars and get two free iPad minis? Come on. If the owner wanted the iPad minis installed he could go to ARS.

Apple and Ferrari.

Android and The-Junkey-Vanagen

Actually, Google is a step above. They're developing self-driving cars that take you exactly where their advertisers want you to go. :D

You: "Google Car, take me to Vinnie's Pasta House."

Google Car: "Actually, we're going to Applebee's. You haven't tried their exciting and delicious new Sizzling Skillets yet."

Really Apple?

How about focusing on your real bread and butter customers.

well they disgarded the computer buyers for mobile and now let ios get more and more outdated.

its obvious they cannot really multitask which is perhaps not surprising given the multitasking in ios

Perfect! +1!!!!!!

But, you have to spend $250,000 for the Ferrari. These in-app purchases on the iPad are getting out of control.

I DON'T call shotgun!

This might be the first car in history where people are refusing to argue over who gets to sit in the front passenger seat. This might be the first car in history where people actually prefer to sit in the back seat. :)

I kept expecting to see Jeremy Clarkson with a big grin and/or expression of awe on his face throughout this! Video looks like it is straight out of top gear!

The Car in the video is not the one with the iPads, this is the 4 seater.

I mean, coorperating with premium brands makes sense (image wise), but Ferrari? What about brands like Audi or BMW?

Been waiting for them to finally integrate iOS devices into their cars, now I can finally purchase :D

EDIT: Just watched the intro vid, scratch everything I said, if I had that engine behind me, I wouldn't want to listen to anything else!

It sounds quite a bit like my S-2000, just before my RPM limiter kicks in.

I was looking for the back seats, still didn't see them.

It's in the trunk. (in the front of the car.)

Who is their right mind is going to be watching some video while zipping down the Autobahn at 200 KPH ?

It would be great for things like navigation and climate control as well as music and such.

It looks like a cool car and I am sure it is fast, I can't picture myself driving anything with a paddle shifter. (For a moment, I thought that was a clutch, however, I think it was just a left footrest.)

/Agreed.

I don't know what sort of impact if any this will have on Apple. But I feel that Ferrari lowered their standards by incorporating tech from another company. I don't care if it is one of the most renowned companies in the world... it still devalues the Ferrari it is installed in. I could see perhaps using iPad retina display technology for the clarity and touchscreen... but not running iOS or anything similar. Shame on you Ferrari... shame. :(

The 2012 FF's navigation headunit was pulled straight from a $20k Grand Caravan. (as does the Cali for that matter)

The higher up the car ladder you go, the lower you should set your expectations in terms of tech. Ferrari isn't alone- Maserati had the crappiest headunit for years, but don't worry, they've swapped that thing out for a unit straight from a rental Dodge Charger.

Aston Martin had an awful system from a Volvo, which was recently changed to a cartoonish Garmin unit. You can get the exact same thing for $100 from Best Buy.

Porsche has one of the better nav systems in a high end car (at least it's a bespoke unit and not a shared VW/Audi unit like the one Lamborghini uses), but even so, the latest 'PCM3' unit in my Panamera is inferior to the one-generation-old CIC iDrive unit I have in my (BMW) M5.

This iPad thing isn't a bad idea if it's integrated properly, esp. after considering how incapable these manufacturers are when building their own units.

Weird they go with the FF :eek; probably the most awkward Ferrari ever built, the California seems the best option to introduce ipad in Ferraris.

Cool down, it's not good for blood pressure! ;)

I think we pretty much all agree that no matter how you put it, Ferrari has never been and will never be a "full-blown family car"... At least, I hope so!

Well...actually the FF is a 'family-car'. It belongs in the same league as an Aston Martin Rapide S or a Porsche Panamera (with the Porsche having quite a success judged from the amount of Panameras I see in the wild).
