i'd rather see apple and toyota....

this news doesnt mean anything to the average working person.

It's about image. A "partnership" between Apple and Ferrari helps Apple maintain its image of being a premium product, albeit one that's within reach of the average person (unlike a Ferrari).

Wait, does this say for the 'rear-seat' passengers?
Guess that means operating the mini with you nose..

Actually, doesn't look that bad, this is the 2012 version:

That's it!

I was torn between a Ford Focus and this, but since they are incorporating iPad minis for the passengers that I don't care about, I am getting this.

great news for the 0.1% of the world that would ever consider getting a ferrari...

However I would love to see Apple start integrating better into a bunch of major car companies. Ferrari might be a good first step. I think another company that Apple should partner with ASAP is Tesla. Their DNA is extremely similar

You mean they both run on batteries?

Who is their right mind is going to be watching some video while zipping down the Autobahn at 200 KPH ?

You are making an incorrect assumption here...

Seriously, these cars have passenger seats. And iPad Mini is a lovely display for GPS.

I personally think computers in cars could be the next big thing in computing. Most computers in cars are pretty bad so it is ripe for someone like Apple to come a long. In a couple of years time I can see cars powered by Apple and Google OSs (possibly MS too if they are still around).

When my ( yeah, right! ) Ferrari is in the shop which I hear is quite often, do I get to keep the two iPad minis home? :p

Awesome automobile engineering indeed.

Im sure you could buy a Focus and use the leftover cash to install 2 Minis in :D

Ferraris typically last for decades, because they are maintained and loved.

iPads last for 9 months, and then are disdained as "obsolete".

Why would Ferrari use some sort of ephemeral gadget as a component of one of their cars?

I don't really get it. Nobody disses a Ferrari because it is 5 years old. Not until they get in the back seat and spot the built-in antique iPad, that is.

If you own a Ferrari I'm quit sure you can put a new iPad in every year or so.
Just have your full-time mechanic do it.

Can anyone over the age of 7 fit into the back of this car? And no one in their right mind would put a sticky finger, ice cream eating, nose picking seven year old in a Ferrari! :p

just imagine picking up your kid after a soccer game and he's covered in mud  he/she would be walking home :p

When the back of your seat has a better user interface than the front dash, there's a problem.

(But hey, they're still painting their show cars that ugly red, so )

/Agreed.

I don't know what sort of impact if any this will have on Apple. But I feel that Ferrari lowered their standards by incorporating tech from another company. I don't care if it is one of the most renowned companies in the world... it still devalues the Ferrari it is installed in. I could see perhaps using iPad retina display technology for the clarity and touchscreen... but not running iOS or anything similar. Shame on you Ferrari... shame. :(
