I don't why it's taken so long for all this. All car manufacturers should do is have an iPad mini hookup on the front dash. No need for a built in stereo. I guess they would still need an amplifier and all that, but still.

$3,000 for a navigation unit is the biggest joke ever.

SO many snarky, 'I think I'm really witty' comments. All over the place. Now I know why I don't use this site anymore

Pretty much agree. I blame reddit. And high school kids wanting attention. Or is that all the same thing?

"Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president in charge of Internet Software and Services joined Ferrari's board of directors late last year."

Oh I see now... tricky tricky....

Porsche has one of the better nav systems in a high end car (at least it's a bespoke unit and not a shared VW/Audi unit like the one Lamborghini uses), but even so, the latest 'PCM3' unit in my Panamera is inferior to the one-generation-old CIC iDrive unit I have in my (BMW) M5.

This iPad thing isn't a bad idea if it's integrated properly, esp. after considering how incapable these manufacturers are when building their own units.

At least you have PCM3. Waze on my iPhone5 is light years ahead of the PCM2.1 unit in my 2006. The downside of the iP5 is it's small screen size - which is perfect for a phone but at bit small for dashboard GPS. An LTE-equiped iPad mini might be the perfect upgradable in-car GPS device.

I get a little nauseous when I consider the amount I spent installing a Kenwood 7120 in-dash GPS in my wifes's SUV. What a horrible device it turned out to be.

Then why the heck is that red Ferrari up on the page? Lame.

Because it's Ferrari's JUST announced today new hyper car the replaces the Enzo. That's why on practically every story on this across the net, they have this car pictured and not the actual one with the iPads.

And with regards to the cheap head unit comments, many high end cars now use Bang and Olufsen or Bowers and Wilkins designed systems including the amps and processors etc, you can make any standard unit sound pretty damn good with quality amplification and processing.
However I've no idea who Ferrari use?

Oh okay! Thank you for the clarification. "Lame" comment rescinded!

Yeah, all the grown ups are on 4chan

It's good they paired with Ferrari because if there is anyone that can't afford an iPad on their own, it's a Ferrari owner.

I've never understood why an adult would want a car like this. Talk about impractical. I think the last time I had any desire for a car like that I was 15 years old.

Ferrari and Apple are in talks to expand their partnership on in-car entertainment, reports Bloomberg. Ferrari Chairman Luca Cordero Di Montezemolo said the company would be "more precise" over the next few months, though its unclear what exactly Di Montezemolo meant.

Ferrari's new 963 horsepower 'LaFerrari' hybrid hypercar was introduced this week at the Geneva Motor Show, and Ferrari also announced that its four-seater FF coupe will now incorporate a pair of iPad minis into the seats for use by the rear passengers.

So do get a new ipad when its outdated in six months in your super expensive car?

Damn - just when I was ready to hit the "buy now" icon on the http://store.ferarri.com website this shows up.

When you add the Apple tax - suddenly a Honda Civic seems like a much more rational choice for a vehicle. And that's before all of the Itunes <whatever it's selling today> store required purchases.

The mini is more reliable and even considering the Apple tax, more reasonably priced.
If you can afford a Ferrari you're not gonna care about how much the iPads cost. It's like buying this car and worrying if you can afford the gas and maintenance.

Pretty sad day when an iPod is better looking than a Ferrari. What happened to the classics like the GTO and the Dino? This one looks like a kit car from the 1980's.

Really. You might want to google 80's kit cars. This car is stunning.
