I hate seeing well executed goals get wiped-out by minute VAR offside calls, especially when the referee and the assistant had clear views and didn't whistle, or flag the play.

Rüdiger's header today (at 1:45 in these highlights) is a good example.

That said, I have to admit that the technology behind the "Al Rihla" ball with a sensor in its center and the real time player tracking being done at the matches is pretty impressive.

Most die hard fans would disagree with your point of view. VAR has become a very important part of the game, an offside is an offside. Even the picture you posted clearly shows he was offside. Perhaps the most memorable cheating event that occurred before VAR was introduced was Maradona in the Argentina vs England game when he scored a goal with his hand. That would clearly have been disallowed with VAR. Maradona off course called it "The hand of god"

I don't follow the incredible ins and outs of world cup soccer but I do watch it, and my kids enjoy watching it. Without getting into the PRSI of the Brouhaha regarding Iran vs US. are there rules, regarding a nations flag being altered or not properly being displayed? Iran is trying to get the US ousted from the WC because they allege the US violated the FiFA charter.

It was another well-played game between Cameroon v Serbia, and I was pleased with both teams' scores.

Don't worry. That won't go anywhere.

I don't expect the US to win, or go to the next level, but rather my question is rather, does Iran have a point in complaining about this?
They certainly have the right to complain, but I doubt that it will result in anything other than FIFA cracking down more on political messaging by soccer associations in future editions. Personally I found it a very stupid action by the US Soccer Federation, not because I agree or disagree with either part, but because targeted “attacks” like that can escalate tension and translate into violence towards fans.

I agree with @yaxomoxay.

While Iran do have the right to complain, (and - at the very least - this is a disrespectful and discourteous action by the US Soccer Federation), do, also, bear in mind the wider context of what is currently unfolding in Iran, which may offer some explanation as to the - perhaps unusual sensitivity - of the Iranian authorities on this matter, along with the fact that some Iranian fans (in Qatar) are flying versions of the Iranian flag that are not officially approved as a means of demonstrating - or signalling - their support for the unrest that is taking place in their home country.

That was what I was talking about. I would really be surprised if Iran got anything out of this protest.
In the worst case the USA will get some meaningless penalty either soft now or harsh when it is irrelevent.

I wasn't sure what you meant. I do think it was childish, and stupid for them to do that btw
Sorry, English isn't my main language.
Yes, I do agree it was childish and unwarranted.
I do wonder if it was some easy simplification. My country flag also has a high detail part and sometimes people don't use it and it's OK.
To use a better known country, Spain's flag is also sometimes presented without the crown.

Is anyone noticing the Swiss are playing a lot stronger than the Brazilians? or it's just me? 🤨

Switzerland is today what I would call a mid tier Euro team which means that even without some of the flair of the top teams they are very disciplined, organized and tactically adept.
South american teams in the last few decades have been lacking on those departments and even with the usual Argentine/Brasil player quality they can easily be entangled by teams like Switzerland.
Either Brasil comes up with some of their trademark magic or they can even expose themselves for some late counter attack.
