Most die hard fans would disagree with your point of view. VAR has become a very important part of the game, an offside is an offside. Even the picture you posted clearly shows he was offside. Perhaps the most memorable cheating event that occurred before VAR was introduced was Maradona in the Argentina vs England game when he scored a goal with his hand. That would clearly have been disallowed with VAR. Maradona off course called it "The hand of god"
So, I'm not a "die hard fan" and I loved Maradona's "hand of god" goal?
Very tricky, nebo!
In 2020 the BBC did a fans' poll about VAR. The results were interesting.
30 percent of fans thought it has improved the game, 44 percent of fans actually thought it made football worse.
51 percent of Premier League fans felt that VAR is applied inconsistently.
Also from 2020, was a poll that found that over two-thirds of fans thought VAR made the Premier League less enjoyable to watch.
VAR has made the Premier League less enjoyable to watch, over two-thirds of football fans have said in a YouGov poll.

74 percent said that the technology should be kept but needed to be modified.
That's where I am; not in favor of eliminating VAR, but I think it still needs some work to strike a better balance so that clear mistakes (the Maradona example) are remedied without sucking the life and emotion out of the game.
From the boss:
"Premier League chief executive Richard Masters understands fans frustrations and admits there are changes needed to make it work better, in particular when it comes to reviewing offside calls."
"I think offsides is one [that can be tweaked] and whether you want offsides that are precise to the armpit or the heel, or whether you want to build in a bit of tolerance," Masters said on Tuesday. "That is sort of a technical challenge. We are in constant dialogue with IFAB [the International Football Association Board that sets the rules] about it and about the way the Premier League does it versus everyone else and what we can learn from other leagues."
"Masters said the league had conducted polling which flagged up concerns from fans about "the time to take decision-making, frustration perhaps with the precision offsides. Whether you like that or don't, the jury is out on that."
