Agreed. I’m happy as well. But Saturday will be very challenging I think.
I’m not expecting them to beat France. We can be very proud to even get that far I think with the quality of other countries.

Quarter finals is where I see our journey ending too. But we’ve played well so far.I’m not expecting them to beat France. We can be very proud to even get that far I think with the quality of other countries.

Now then, there's no denying facing France in the last 16 is a daunting task but the good news? The Three Lions have historically enjoyed the better of their meetings with Les Bleus.
The bad news? Most of England's 16 victories came in the early matches between the sides.
This century, England have won one of their seven meetings with France, a 2-0 friendly victory in 2015, while the French have won four.
Word of advice, don't let the French and English students sit together on Saturday, you have been warned.I'm guessing our student from Scotland will not be happy, she did mention that as she and another of our students got to visit the UEFA HQ in Nyon Switzerland. Ok match though I am looking forward to Saturday - there are a lot of French fans here as you can imagine as well as quite a few English fans.
Our students have all left though we get a few they are study abroad from American universities who do a semester overseas - though we always get some non-US citizens who are studying in the USA, like the aforementioned Scottish girl. I was thinking of the pubs here - maybe I'll go to an Irish pub or maybe not. Kebab it is.Word of advice, don't let the French and English students sit together on Saturday, you have been warned.![]()
Mmmmm kebab, that sounds very delusions and now I am craving it, I guess we'll have kebab this Saturday while watching the match. Our students have all left though we get a few they are study abroad from American universities who do a semester overseas - though we always get some non-US citizens who are studying in the USA, like the aforementioned Scottish girl. Has anyone else realize that Harry Maguire is playing phenomenal this tourney,I'll just leave this here.
From BBC:
wow what horrible timing i have today.Whilst Maguire has been very good in the aerial battles,
He was exposed with the speed of the Senegal players. I have no doubt the France manager would have been paying close attention to how the England defence faired against fast paced forwards.wow what horrible timing i have today.
i was watching while my post sat for 10 minutes,
anyways
Maguire was always there cleaning up every play in the first round.
he did impress me more than anyone so far, even Messi.
I always dread when a game goes to penalties, my worse moment is watching those.I have a feeling this will go to penalties…
As long as TAA stays on the bench we have a chance defensively.Whilst Maguire has been very good in the aerial battles, his poor club performance has proven that when he comes up against a team that has speedy wingers and strikers, he struggles because his slowness means he gets caught out of position a lot.
The worst thing England can do is play a high line to catch the French offside because the French will catch them out for speed. Pickford is going to have to put on his Superman outfit because the England defence will get caught out time and time again.
Everyone in the English team at this WC has shown their very best gameplay, the teamwork atmosphere has been excellent, they picked the right team members and they are working together very well.Has anyone else realize that Harry Maguire is playing phenomenal this tourney,
even with that 1 mistake against Senegal.
hopefully he can keep this lever up against France.
