Uhh no, all devices aren't actually 8GB or whatever they say. My iPod touch is 7.1, and my iPhone is about the same too. You can talk bad about it all you want, you will want one in the future. My old phone died, and I wanted an iPhone but I got the G1 instead, I still couldn't appease myself, and got an iPhone through a special Best Buy promotion, and gave the G1 to my mom.

Read my post above: Just cancel your AT&T contract pay the ETF, and unlock the phone and use it on Tmobile. Thats what I've done, and my iPhone is working perfectly, and I'm paying only $5.99 for unlimited data. I don't know of what problems you are talking about with unlocking, but your best bet is to unlock it for Tmobile.

I like the iPhone. I've used an iPod Touch and they're both basically the same except the Touch doesnt have the general phone capabilities. New iPhones will come out every year and the $80-$100 is a rip off. My friends have all sold their iPhones and I never wanted listened to them, until now. In the future, you'll realize how much money has been spent on the phone. You're not paying $200 for an 8GB iPhone 3G, you're actually paying $1200 a year for it. Think about it. I can get a Curve 8900 and a Touch for a little over $400 and not have to pay anywhere near as much as that. Also, if I go to T-mobile I don't have to pay my own phone bill because of family plans which saves me a LOT of money.

Sorry if it seems I'm bashing the iPhone but I'm not. It truly, IMO, is the BEST phone out on the market right now. I just can't afford to spend so much money every month on it.

Idk what to get first, the Curve or the iPod Touch. I'll have to see what i can do.

MrGadget, I think you're not being at all honest here! I think the real reason you want to get rid of the iPhone is so that you can get the new one this summer. I've ascertained that after reading your posts on Apple Support forums.

Either way, good luck to you.

I'm sure I'll miss the iPhone until I get my Touch. As a phone, it was decent but as an overall device it was a 9/10 for me. I loved it. Battery life could be better though. But I already got two dropped calls today which was a bit annoying.

I wish T-mobile had the iPhone and at a cheaper price. Who knows? We might see an iPhone come to T-mobile sometime in the future. Maybe this summer, maybe next year or the year after...nobody knows

I mean, people generally use a cell phone for two years and then after that they just forget about em or sell them or something.

So I might just go with a free phone and get the iPod Touch or get the Curve and an iPod Touch...idk yet

THATS WHAT IM TRYING TO TELL YOU! Unlock the iPhone, and use it on Tmobile. My iPhone 3G is on Tmobile, and I'm not paying $1200 a year. I'm also on a family plan with my parents, grandparents, and my uncle. I only pay $16 a month for 1000 texts and unlimited data through Tmobile. Just unlock the iPhone, and cancel the AT&T contract.

You think you'll be satisfied with the Touch, thats what I thought, but the Touch made me want to get the iPhone more to get that connectivity everywhere.

ROFL

That was the lat thing I wanted to get. Did you read my entire posts in the topic? I was basically telling people that there were only rumors and Apple might not even release a new iPhone.

Basically, I'm done with anything iPhone. I just cannot use it as a phone and there's no good insurance anywhere for it.

The $6 per month insurance on T-mobile is awesome. As soon as I get my Curve tomorrow I'm getting it.

It covers loss, damage, water damage, etc anything....you name it.

I talked to a TMO representative on the phone today about it. I can just get it and request another phone as long as I keep paying the monthly $6 and pay the deducted cost of the phone.

I've been with TMO for 5 years and switched to AT&T for only a month and am reverting to TMO.

So I've had my iPhone 3G for a month and it's AWESOME. BEST phone I've ever had...

...BUT! The monthly bills (w/taxes!!!) are so expensive. My bill for this month is $83 alone and that's with the basic 450 minutes, data plan and 200 texts with taxes. For insurance, I have to pay $15 a month in which my total bill comes to nearly $100!!!

I've had this 16GB for 2 weeks. I have until 30 days to return it.

I'm thinking about returning my iPhone for the full $300 and and reverting to T-mobile to get a Curve 8900 and buy an iPod Touch.

The monthly bills are the only thing making me regret switching to AT&T. I've had perfect coverage with both but these bills are so dang high.

Also, the Curve 8900 DOES NOT require a data plan so my mom agrees to add me to the family plan and I will have 300 minutes (for myself) and unlimited text---all of which I WON'T pay. Along with that, I can get an iPod Touch.

I'm usually at home most of the time, so I'm not sure if it matters to get an iPod Touch. It's basically the iPhone without the phone/camera/gps--I never use the camera or GPS.

I get $30 a week in allowance, as I cannot work until I'm 18 (in my area). So that $30 is what I use to pay my phone bill.

If I get the Curve, I won't have to pay for monthly charges and the iPod Touch, of course, doesn't have any monthly charges.

In the end, it saves me $30 a week, which is $120 a month.

Should I do it? I'm really considering it because the iPhone's monthly bills are WAY TOO HIGH

If you want to lower your bill, get rid of Texts. Use Palringo instead (or IM+). You can send texts to your friends' phones, without paying a penny on charges (and Palringo is free!). That's what I use (and I text quite a bit!). That should lower your bill by $20-30 (depending on carrier/plan).

Hope that helps ya!

If you really like the phone... But don't want the contract. I'd unlock it. That's what I did.

Basically, I think everyone will agree with me on this:
-iPhone: Good
-AT&T: rubbish

AT&T seems good but their plans need serious work. The only reason they got a boost in customers was really because of the iPhone. Verizon was too dumb to decline Apple's offer so it was great that AT&T was able to snag the iPhone.

And to anyone asking me to unlock it...I'm not going to. I want to return the phone for full price. I'll just get an iPod Touch and it will be simpler.

It just seems a lot cheaper to get a free camera phone and an iPod Touch. I'm not out all the time so using internet on the go doesn't mean much to me anymore.

If I'm out I'll listen to music or play games on the Touch. Sorry but I wanna go back to T-mobile where my whole family is on.

I really like the iPhone and the Touch is nearly identical to it. It's aslo faster so that's a plus.

Could you explain your reasons for not wanting to unlock it?

Blackberry 8900 is $200, and the iPod touch is $220, making them $420 total, whereas you can cancel the contract for $175 and have them both.

Well I'd prefer using a real-physical QWERTY pad phone as a phone. I'll use my BB Curve 8900 for calls/unlimited texts, video/camera, music(while saving up for an iPod Touch 2G) and maybe a little gaming. I'll get the rebate because I don't wanna get any data plan for it.

And I don't want to have a two phones. I've heard that there are some problems with updating unlocked iPhones, like they will automatically lock back.

Don't try to convince me man. I've made up my mind. lol

So I'm getting the Curve 8900 either tonight or tomorrow and will save up for an iPod Touch. I can come up with the money by next month.

well honestly iphone is not that expensive to use if you are smart enough. i dont understand what is wrong with unlocking it or what problems are you talking about??

i live in canada, i got first generation iphone last year from ebay for $300, and i unlocked it, and now i use it on rogers network with pay as you go. i just buy $20 card every month, of which i pay $10 for texting, and it only cost me 1 cent a min on evenings and weekands. i have wifi at home, and at my university, so i dont need data at all. i honestly have no problems at all with unlocking it.

i dnt know abt t-mobile plans or att plans in US, bt here in canada, rogers being the only GSM network, totally rip u off. The cheapest plan is $60 per month, which includes only 1 GB of data, and 200 texts, if u want voice mail, caller id, etc ,its like $15, so 60+15= 75, plus like $8 system access fee, which comes to $83 , then TAXES, which are like $10, so $93 a month, with only 1 Gb of data, and guess wt , you have to have THREE years of contract.

theres no way in hell i will ever do that. Also, someone said above that t-mobile offers data for $5.99 or something, i dont know if its unlimited data or not, but WOW thats such a sweet deal, if i were you i would totally unlock my phone and go for t-mobile, and get tht $5.99 data plan.

I guess people like you are really concerned about warranty and stuff, that why you pay $15 every month just for insurance, so maybe thts y u dont wanna unlock ur phone bc u will loose all your warranty.

Best Buy works for my company, and I wouldn't trust them. I never had a problem with Apple Care at all, but they don't cover damage or theft. Best Buy also can't fix it anyways, they have to sent it to Apple for repair jobs. If you're worried about breaking it, get the Otter Box. It's bulky, but it takes a beating. You can get Apple care anytime with in the year warranty also.

i have the BB insurance and its been great. I have accidentally broken 2phones from various drops. The first time BB didn't charge me the second time $50.
I don't think apple care would have covered such damage and provide a replacement in 10 minutes, especially since the closest apple store is 45 minutes with no traffic.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to unlock my iPhone because I'd lose the warranty and I'd have to be extremely with it.

A plus though would be that it's not on AT&T which has really crappy plans.

Well if something were to happen, you could drop it because the Best Buy warranty covers accidental damage, then they'd have no way to find out, or you could just restore the phone in iTunes.

I don't think I'd be able to get the Best Buy insurance without a contract with AT&T.

Man, I really can't wait to get my Curve tomorrow. It will be cool going back to a phone with a physical keypad.

You're going to regret this... I did the same thing you are doing and after a while I really missed my iPhone. So I sold my iPod and other phone, and today got an iPhone 3G. You will do the same in the future. I guarantee it.

No, I will NEVER regret this because I always stick with what I say. You're the one who will end up giving AT&T nearly $100 every month and realized that you could have saved that money to buy something a lot more reasonable. I can understand someone getting an iPhone if they don't have a computer in their home but not when they do. I was pretty stupid to switch from T-mobile to AT&T.

I think the only day I'll regret it is when AT&T actually has better service and plans than T-mobile. That's the first and last time I'm switching carriers for a phone.

And hell, I even sold my 360 last week but have no regrets what so ever and I'm sure that I enjoyed my 360 a lot more than my iPhone.

So did you cancel your line on Tmobile or did you keep the line and just get the iPhone?

I'm returning the iPhone either tonight or tomorrow for full price. Then I'm going to T-mobile and purchasing the Black Berry Curve 8900. Thank goodness that it has Wi-Fi (and WiFi calling ^_^) and does not require a data plan.

BB curve is not a bad phone, hope you enjoy it.

However, for me, i can never like another phone but my iphone :p lol. For instance, i bought HTC touch pro, bc of its cool slide out keyboard, but honestly, even tho keyboard was really good, i just didnt like windows mobile. i mean all its UI and wt so ever, it just wasnt my thing lol

Also, jailbreaking iphone and installing apps frm cydia, and cracked apps (try before u buy) makes it even more fun :p

The iPhone is a decent phone but a great device. The BB Curve 8900 is a great phone and a good device. I'll be getting an iPod Touch soon so I'll get the iPhone without the phone/camera features.

I don't mind carrying around two devices and I LOVE that T-mobile has good insurance that covers theft, loss, and damages.
