and the 205 restocking fee, so 405.00 to stay with t-mobile...

And lets not forget the cost of the BB8900 which is $200, making it a total of $605, and he also wants an iPod touch. Basically, his little plan is going to cost him $825 when he can just cancel his AT&T line for $175, and unlock the phone for Tmobile.

If I was in his shoes, I would do that idea. With so many people on this site to show how to unlock a phone, it can't be that hard.

Get used to it.

No actually I left T-mobile when my contract was up and I didn't have to pay anything. Now I'm leaving AT&T for $50 as my friend works at T-mobile and is helping me rid AT&T.

Even if I did pay $400 just to come back with T-mobile, that's still a LOT cheaper than paying $80+ (not including govt taxes) a month with AT&T.:)

Meanwhile, I'll have my Curve 8900 and iPod Touch and won't have to worry about paying monthly fees and throw that money in the bank. ^_^

So first you say you have to pay some heavy restocking fees to get out of AT&T, then you say you get a full refund, now its $50? Make up your mind kid. What does your friend at Tmobile have anything to do with AT&T? I think what you're doing is outright stupid, when you can just pay the ETF, and unlock the phone on Tmobile. But hey, if you like to waste money, all power to you.

That's what I been saying, this kid has more stories than a book store..
Also T-mobile has no pull with at&t, why would then anyways?

Or???

If you really insist on going back, then just use the iphone AS an ipod touch????? That includes a camera and will get 3.0 for free when it comes out?

Hmm...
Yeah I'll just pay the monthly bills anyway. Since my allowance can cover it, then it's all good anyway.

I just love the fact of being able to use internet ANYWHERE with cellular signal and not being restricted to Wi-Fi. For some reason, EDGE is super fast where I live.

And then, 3 hours later...

No, I will NEVER regret this because I always stick with what I say. You're the one who will end up giving AT&T nearly $100 every month and realized that you could have saved that money to buy something a lot more reasonable. I can understand someone getting an iPhone if they don't have a computer in their home but not when they do. I was pretty stupid to switch from T-mobile to AT&T.

So you went from, "I am DEFINITELY keeping the iPhone, it's just awesome," to, "Why did I ever waste my money on this costly piece of garbage?" in a couple hours?

And you didn't look at, or consider the cost of owning an iPhone before purchasing one? Your parents are idiots for trusting you with so much money.

The camera blows on the iPhone. And I'm not a kid, I'm 17.
Also, I was kidding around about that crap about me paying only $50ETF.

I swapped between AT&T so I lost over $500 trying to figure out which phone to stay with for two years. XD But it was just saved up money from a few years ago. I actually had forgot about that account.

So anyway, I've made up my mind. I returned my iPhone today and canceled my contract with AT&T. Then I went to T-mobile and bought the Curve 8900 (awesome phone) and am saving up for an iPod Touch 2G. It feels good to be in a family plan with unlimited texting and calling again. It also feels better to have a full physical QWERTY pad phone again. I really missed that on the iPhone.

So this is my first Blackberry phone and I love it. I also have insurance from T-mobile that guarantees my phone be replaced if it's lost, stolen, damaged, etc you get the drill. And it's only $5.99 a month and for the Curve 8900 I'll pay a $130 deductible instead of paying full $599 for the phone if that were to happen. The iPhone was draining my wallet with deciding cases, screen protectors and etc. The Curve even comes with a nice leather pouch.

Well, the iPhone is a BEAST at multimedia but hopefully when the new 3.0 OS releases, it will be better.

It's called deciding factors. Only an idiot would agree to paying so much for basic plans a month.

Truth: iPhone is a great device

You're actually an idiot because I did consider costs and factors like that before buying a phone. It was just my first time paying my own bills and I never realized how useless all the apps are on the iPhone and I wanted to just experience this device. I never realized that my taxes would be so high for monthly bills.

I was an idiot for switching to AT&T for the iPhone.

To be honest, anyone who would rather pay that much a month rather than get a separate phone and an iPod Touch on a better carrier is pretty dumb in my eyes.

To be fair, your parents are covering the costs of the basic family plan (which is similar in price across most carriers). Not everyone is 17 and can have their parents cover the costs, nor does not doing so make one an idiot.

Hopefully you'll learn from this experience and do better research in the future. Consider yourself lucky it's over a few hundred dollars and not, say, a $40,000 car and not knowing about having to pay sale taxes on it.

Wow, and just wow.. careful with your selection of words there. First and foremost your case/scenario is not entirely the same with most of us here, i.e. I can afford the iPhone and in fact I only pay $65+ (tax inclusive) with a better plan that the one you've mentioned. Second, about your last statement, that's the reason why iPhone was built, it's an iPod + Phone = iPhone so why would we get a separate phone and an iPod? How dumb of us indeed  And lastly, please think before you type.

It's funny because in another thread he says the iPhone is boring..

WOW calling people who have iPhones dumb... REALLY Smart saying that on a Mac forum.
I never bash people for paying for what they want. If someone can afford it and it makes them happy, then I am happy for them. I am NOT a Ford person (even tho they have been impressing me, but not the point here), but if a friend buys a Ford car, I am happy for them and will not put down the car they just bought.

Why I returned my iPhone and went with T-mobile

I had the iPhone 3G. Yes it was a great device but I didn't consider it to be a phone. Why? Let me tell you:

-Using apps always drained the battery life and I sometimes never had any juice left to make calls

Solution: I bought a Blackberry and an iPod Touch 2G. I use one for calls and the other for multimedia.

I think it's SMARTER to buy the two separate devices because not only will you be great on battery life but you will get the best out of what both do.

My Curve on T-mobile never gets dropped calls and always has 5 bars of signal strength. I get way more battery than I did with my iPhone but that's mainly because I upgraded the OS.

Now I know some people bought the iPhone just so that they don't have to carry two separate devices but a heavy trade off is battery life and of course those notorious AT&T bills.

The two main reasons I returned the iPhone and went back to T-mobile were:

1. There was no insurance for the iPhone (besides Best Buy's) and AT&T would only sell another to an existing customer for around $500+.

2. The insurance was $15/month which didn't even cover loss, theft, or water damage.

3. AT&T's bills were ridiculous compared to what I was paying on T-mobile.
-The equivalent of an individual plan on AT&T could equal a family plan with unlimited texting on T-mobile

4. The iPod Touch: It has a better battery life, faster processor and I don't have to worry about not having enough battery left to make a call

I'm sure a lot of people who are employed can afford the iPhone. I'm employed but I'd like to use my money to other things besides phone bills.

I was convinced when I realized this:

-With an iPod Touch 2G, I pay about $250 with tax for an 8GB (expensive but it has a warranty which is ok)

-With an iPhone, I pay about $220 for an 8GB with tax PLUS $80+ minimum with a texting plan and taxes.

I realized that I always have my laptop on me as I'm always near hotspots and I hardly ever used the internet on the iPhone. Laptops can also get mobile broadband which allows you to use your laptop's internet anywhere with a cellular network.

In conclusion, I decided that T-mobile was right for me. All of my family is on it, we get great service, no dropped calls and great plans.

Just wanted to share this:p

Yup, and #2 is wrong. I was at Best Buy and they told me those things are covered.

#2 is right. Call Best Buy again and check well. I even have two copies of their brochures.

Their insurance doesn't cover loss, theft or water damage.
