SO WHAT???

Get an insurance rider for about $40-60 USD per YEAR to cover theft, accidental damage - including water damage.

That beats what you'd pay through any carrier or retail outlet ANYDAY!

Those aren't even reliable. Screw those. Why do you think it's just a one down payment?

This doesn't beat any carrier insurance.

Anyway I have to go.

Say WHAT?

I have my home owners insurance, motorcycle, auto, and ALL of my high end electronics are FULLY covered through MY insurance company.

Speak not of what you CLEARLY have no clue about. If I drop my MBP today, I call my insurance agent, I have a check tomorrow. Same thing goes for ALL of my electronics. Obviously you're still "wet behind the ears" you need to learn about the real world before you go preaching.

Half of that complaint gets fixed with buying a car charger and an emergency battery charger that plugs into the dock connector. I just have my USB charger and one for my car. I'm never away from either long enough to worry about not having any battery.

As far as the service, that's up to each individual. I hear horror stories about AT&T but don't have much bad to say about them that isn't industrywide. They took charges off my bill for some games a craphead of an ex-friend downloaded to the phone I let him borrow. Their signal is pretty darn good about everywhere I go. Yes, there are dead zones, but there will be for ANY carrier, especially once you get away from urban areas.

I use my phone a lot every day, I use a lot of 3rd party apps. Turn the brightness down from full freekin blast, turn push off unless you are using it, turn fetch off unless you NEED it. I just check mine when I wanna know what I have received. Turn location services off if you dont need it, turn WiFi and bluetooth off if you dont need it... There are a lot of things that you can do to help your battery along. You just didnt try. Plus the insurance; put it on a an insurance rider like Revelation78 said.

Here’s how I did/didn’t get around those problems:

(Battery life)
I have a second cable to charge at work (can do it in the car too). This is cheaper than another phone.

(Single strength)
Hmm…next model?

(Insurance)
In Australia, Optus offers insurance for around $7 AUS per month. This doesn’t help you thou..

(Plan costs)
Again, in Australia the plans are very good - so long as you don’t go nuts with data downloads.

(Faster processor)
I haven’t heard that. As far as I know they are both around 600Mhz, but iPhone is locked on 400Mhz for the moment – probably battery related.

To me it sounds like AT&T is the main problem here, not the iPhone.

the iphone and ATT are not for everyone - glad you found a solution that you are comfortable with - although i find it difficult to understand your logic on insurance. still, glad you are enjoying both devices.

personally, i have absolutely loved my iphone since Nov 07 and use it literally all day long (epocrates medical as a physician) - and do not suffer from any battery issues - there is absolutely no way i could or would even consider carrying two devices everywhere when i can do everything with one.

Richard Solo (http://www.richardsolo.com/) is just one device that works really well as an on-the-go charger for the iphone for those that do struggle with draining batteries by the end of the day...
