the ipcc file is not within the zip file. You have to remove the hidden .zip for it to work. Im just gonna wait for the write up

Another MMS thread, woo hoo!

I've said it before, I'll say it again, the easiest way to get mms on your iPhone is to call AT&T and be politely persistent with Technical Support until they provision your account. There is no need for carrier files, etc. It's all on the network side.

The .ipcc is good for a little back-door tethering, however...

Well guys, I had it working for over an hour.

I decided I needed to check that vvm was working. I called my phone, left a message......and waited and waited. Nada. No voicemail notification at all.

I guessed this was because I put the info in ALL FIELDS like the op said. So I deleted the username and password fields in the vvm section, and POOF!!! no more mms.

resetting the info has not worked. I guess I'm gonna start the whole process over again and see if I can get it to work again. Honestly I don't use vvm that much as I don't even get that many calls. If I get it working again, I'll just have to remember to call my vm to see if there's a message for missed calls.

This Jerry-rigging technique is so ridiculous. Just wait until the end of summer so you dont have to screw up your rate plan.

For visual voicemail to work with the method used in this thread, you need to change the APN for voicemail from wap.cingular to acds.voicemail. That will fix it and MMS will continue to work.

I did this method on both mine and my roommates phones. We both got them working for a few minutes (maybe 15 total) and then they stopped working again.

Oh well, wishful thinking!

Like I said, a dog chasing its tail and almost as funny.

I totally agree. I feel foolish for keeping trying.....but I read every one of these threads.

OK....I re-did everything from the OP's instructions and I'm back on. Will try again in about an hour and see if I'm still on.

All kidding aside, I think it's pretty ridiculous that AT&T can go to all the trouble of doing sweeps to remove the MMS hack, but can't seem to enable MMS to its users (conceivably due to having to manually remove the mms opt out....yeah, right). I think the real reason for the sweeps is due to the fact that AT&T is not ready for MMS and tethering.

Ok I emailed the file to AbSoluTc so he can host it and post it. Once he does just

Go to Start -> Run (
type in "command" and hit enter
Type/copy+paste this into the command console that comes up: "C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe" /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1
Hit enter

Then open Itunes hold Shift and click "Check for Update" NOT restore.
Select the file I sent to AbSoluTc to upload and there you go.

I am using a mac not a pc thanks!

OK, just to report back.....

After I followed all the same steps again to re-enable mms, I had it working for a while. I'm sorry to report that it is not working again. This sux......correction-ATT sux...

For mac users that cant get the ipcc file to work. Go to safari preferences/general than uncheck open safe file. Then redownload the file and it will work every time.

Yep, they sure do. I wonder why the OP doesn't get his MMS turned off? Guess he's lucky.

I finally got it to work after nights of no sleep and dreams about it. I was previously successful on the 3g with a post from this forum but failed on the 3gs time after time after following many different threads. I mixed and matched ideas, threads, sim cards and finally got it to work flawlessly and been working for the last 24 hours. I can send Pictures and Video. I had given up on MMS on the 3GS but had a dream about mms so I kept trying lol.

Here is what you do.

1. Update the carried file which hopefully you know how to do.

2. Setting-General-Network-Cellular Data AND ENTER ON ALL FIELDS
APN: wap.cingular
Username: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM (CAPS
Password: CINGULAR1 (CAPS)
MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.32
MMS Max Message Size: [leave blank]
MMS UA Prof URL: [leave blank]

3. Pull sim card and insert it into an mms capable att phone. Make a 1 minute phone call (No need to log into ATT or call ATT).

4. Go to https://mymedianet.wireless.att.com/ and register for media net while sim is in mms capable phone.

5. Log into ATT and under your number if you still see an iphone manually switch it to the mms capable phone. Go to features and change it to a regular text plan not an iphone text plan. (If you currently have family iphone text you will have to change it to the 1500 text plan then change it to unlimited family text (not iphone text plan)

6. Send an MMS from MMS capable phone.

7. Insert SIM back to Iphone and reboot then enjoy MMS

I have tried it many times and never fails. Please Sticky......

works flawlessly :)
