Why would Apple discontinue the leather case? That’s ridiculous! Bring back the leather cases from iPhone 11 days please.
they want a higher profit margin

this is all about profits.

probably cheaper to manufacture the FineWoven case in comparison to the leather case.

this FineWoven is complete garbage a vegan leather case would have looked 10x better than this garbage

Anyone who have used the Apple leather case between iPhone 12 and 14 can tell the quality is way too bad. Apple must have been getting complaints so they made the decision. I’m disappointed, but not surprised.

Mine arrived and contrary to the opinion here I like it.
The bits of dust you see rub off easy with your finger. I purposely added some lint/specs by dabbing it on my shirt and a cushion, picked up a few specs but gone with a few gentle swipes of my finger.

You can't see the texture of the sides with the naked eye.
Feels nice in the hand, more like very fine velvet than suede. The front edge has a small lip similar to the leather, one of my dislikes of the Apple cases is the exposed metal frame around the edge. Looks like this will be the same, maybe the different design makes it less. We'll see.

As it's polyester it should clean easy enough with a damp microfibre cloth for those with that concern. Again, we'll see.

How it wears if dropped is another thing we'll find out later when the inevitable happens to someone. The leather & silicon Apple cases didn't do well there either though.

Looks nice to me in the higher def pictures; I ordered one too so I’ll see if I like it for myself.

The leather cases probably hold up better, but it's not like most people are going to use a case for a decade. It's probably fine for the average lifespan of an iPhone. Time will tell...

Definitely do not look like leather. Guess will need to find a quality leather case now. Too bad as always purchased Apple’s.

IMG_5317.jpegI’m very disappointed with the FineWoven wallet. First, the paint/glue on the front lip is totally uneven in the one I just picked up. It also seems like any little dent or scratch lives on it forever, and it is very easily scratch-able.

Based on this forum, I think Apple are going to really struggle selling these and the cases.

Original uptake will be decent, but there'll be tons of returns.

This gives me hope they might actually wear quite nicely and develop a bit of a patina of their own. I’d take that over the awful peeled paint and dirty edges of my leather cases.

Edit; that glue isn’t great though!

They discussed this at the apple event. Maybe all the other comments about profit margins, etc are also true but their stated reason was to move to a more carbon neutral product. And leather is the one product that had the most impact to that. stopping leather bands on the watch moved it to be a fully carbon neutral product. Their stated reason is for carbon neutrality. There are always likely other reasons as well that are not stated.

Like carpeting in a bathroom, I'm not sure these cases are the best idea 😆🤣. I guess time will tell. I do have one on order out of curiosity, too.

The feel is kind of growing on me but I will say this—I use the Apple Clear case and because the leather wallet is a soft fabric on the back, it slides more easily than the leather wallet does.

I like mine too. Got the blue. Also, compared to the 14 Pro even though it's only a smidge smaller, in the hand you can definitely notice the difference with the 15 Pro case.
