Got the blue wallet, it looks cool and fits 4 cards including metal. But I don’t think the material will last or stay clean. Pictures a bit dark but it’s a nice cool blue

Sorry but that just looks terrible, and I noticed none of the fine woven cases look like the pictures on the box. The colors all look super dark and muddy like a Nintendo 64 texture. I can’t believe how terrible these cases look, like a Chinese knockoff or something you get in alibaba website for $1. really shocked apple released this product.

Got my blue Finewoven today. It is trash. The material feels cheap. I put it in my pocket a couple of times and lint would stick to the back each time. It's on the way back to Apple now.

If they wanted to go environmentally friendly, maybe "vegan" leather at least?...

I’m sure it will hold up as well if not better than the leather because it’s plastic. It is probably also lighter than the leather case which in my book would be a win. Same level of protection only lighter. I guess the video proved me wrong. Shame on Apple.

It is worse than any of us could have imagined. It is a product they shouldn't even sell.

Ordered mulberry and evergreen - returning both.

To me, the colors didn’t match the website versions - they appear much more vibrant (not in a good way).

And, in hand, they feel like suede. Really cheap suede. One came scratched pretty badly out of the box. Not a fan.

The idea that you can determine a materials durability by eyeballing it.

This website gets more ridiculous by the day…

Let’s try transporting gasoline in a paper bag! You’d be a fool to “eyeball” it and conclude it’s a bad idea, just as you’d be a fool to conclude a very fine woven fabric might not do well with stains and oils.

They discussed this at the apple event. Maybe all the other comments about profit margins, etc are also true but their stated reason was to move to a more carbon neutral product. And leather is the one product that had the most impact to that. stopping leather bands on the watch moved it to be a fully carbon neutral product. Their stated reason is for carbon neutrality. There are always likely other reasons as well that are not stated.
This is the MacRumors forums. They take no positivity or statement of goodwill at face value. ESPECIALLY from Apple for some weird reason.

Perhaps part of the problem is that Apple has positioned this as the replacement for leather both in marketing and in price. First, you will have the diehard leather heads that will put their hands on it and instantly recoil in horror. Second, you will have people expecting a premium experience that get turned off by the build quality in general. Although......If I was Apple and planning a move from real leather to faux leather I would totally introduce some BS fabric thing in-between so that when I "bring back" the "pleather" everyone rejoices. Imagine the backlash from the purists if Apple had gone straight from real leather to faux.

I still think I am going to give this FineWoven an honest chance.

Nice rant considering you haven't seen/touched the thing in person yet while countless people including myself have posted in this thread and have.

I didn't buy the leather cases before from Apple or any company so I wasn't hoping for that so you assumed wrong about me and likely others.

This case is awful. I looked at it and touched it with my own hands. I gave it an honest chance by ordering it. I'm all for helping the environment, but it has to be done in ways where you don't pay 60 bucks for a piece of garbage.

There’s a YouTube video out now that shows this case getting irreversibly scratched just by fingernails. This will probably go down as the least durable case Apple has ever made.
it's almost criminal Apple asks $69 for such a reall really bad quality case. Mindblowing
I bet it will cost Apple an overall ~ $2 per case production/distribution wise

Nope, this is just a B-grade AliExpress case, the FineWoven one from Apple
