Honestly, I have many more issues with people playing loud music outside and cars / motorcycles without adequate mufflers than a few days of fireworks.

For those that are upset over the fireworks, I'm sure that there are many things that each of you also do that annoy other people.
The worst I might do is play the TV too loudly. But if I am, come tell me nicely, and I will turn it down. I'm not going to cry about rights and turn it up.

I'm not sure the TV example applies to the discussion since nobody (I would hope) can hear it outside of your home :).

People use fireworks because they think it is fun. I think it has little to do with crying about rights.

On the positive side, people only fire them off on the 4th of July.

Without the 4th of July, I'm sure that we would hear fireworks all through the year :(.

To those that are complaining about fireworks, report it to the police.

It's been one of those things that's been going on more for weeks if not even months this year in particular in many areas it would seem. Reporting to police doesn't end up doing much unfortunately for the most part (for whatever reason). Thus discussions of this nature.

Well its reassuring to hear that morons letting off fireworks with no regard for peoples sleeping infants and terrified animals isn't exclusive to my small part of Wales after all lol. We are an inconsiderate and selfish species aren't we? :p

You must have missed where I stated I had. And to a city councilman.

It’s been nightly since around early June: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/whats-with-all-the-fireworks-these-days.2242854/

On the other hand, it drowns out the screams from sheep being used by the townspeople.

I'm gonna take what people say on a thread complaining about fireworks with a grain of salt.
Should've seen the LA sky Saturday night.
Looked amazing.
Chances are that wasn't the case for many others. More than likely even more so if that was continuing into early morning hours (and on other nights as well).

That's true.
But between 8 and midnight it was glorious.
Knocked out after that.

Everyone loves fireworks

It’s funny because every November 5th I go to a fireworks display with my children and stand through 10-15 minutes of continuous fireworks. After about 30 seconds I realise I actually find the whole thing very boring and I’m there purely for the excitement of the children. I think it’s such a pointless waste of money and never understand why domestic households will spend £100 on a few rockets that are gone within seconds. I do get a little warm fuzzy feeling when I read in the local paper about a scally who has blown his fingers off after terrorising his neighbours until the early hours though. Those stories appear every year and are perhaps the positive side to fireworks, for me at least lol.

Everyone loves fireworks

[Dr. Joni Utley, a GCVHCS psychologist] added that flashing lights, explosions and even the smell of fireworks can serve as a trigger for some Veterans, whose reactions to these can vary. She also said that several fireworks celebrations – historically scheduled at specific times in Gulf Coast area cities – have been cancelled, prompting individual celebrations to occur at random times.

In the City of Springfield, Captain Drew Piemonte of the Springfield Fire Department told Western Mass News - over the phone - that on Friday night, they received close to 300 calls about illegal fireworks.

"Springfield is a highly densely populated city. If people are shooting off fireworks and not taking account where they are landing, over the past couple weeks, we’ve had fireworks go through people’s open windows," he said. "Luckily they were home, and they could extinguish it, [but] one person suffered injuries, and the other was able to put it out before we got there."

Those of us who set off fireworks need to ask ourselves: Are those few minutes of fun worth the hours, days, or weeks of torment that will begin for some of our friends and neighbors—including many who put their lives on the line to protect us?

How to reduce the negative impact

There are ways to reduce how fireworks affect others:

  • For those with PTSD, the unexpected nature of fireworks is probably the worst part. So at least make it as predictable as possible. Do it in designated areas during designated times. Don't explode one, for instance, two hours after the designated time window. And avoid setting them off on the third People are less prepared then.
  • If you're aware that a veteran or trauma survivor lives in the neighborhood, move the noise as far as possible from their home and give them prior warning. Consider putting a sign in your front yard noting the time you'll set the fireworks.
  • Remember, it doesn't have to be super loud to make it fun. Consider using silent fireworks. And you don't have to be the one who lights the fireworks. Simply enjoy watching while your city or township does it safely.

No, everyone does not love fireworks.

Fireworks should be left to the professionals.

Keep doing that. It's possible that there isn't enough political capital behind it; after all, by tomorrow most people will have forgotten about it so it will go from the "priority list" to the "may think about it later list" in no time.
Personally I think that it should be prosecuted with heavy fines. I love fireworks but they are dangerous if not supervised by experts.

Very well said, a sane and sensible post, and one with which I am in complete agreement.

In general, I concur with the posts made by @TiggrToo, but am not completely opposed to fireworks: That is, if fireworks are to be used, personally, I would favour tight regulation and strict control on their purchase and their use, such as, setting out (legally approved) specified times when they can be used, specific locations where they can be used, the lot to be overseen and supervised by appropriate and qualified experts.

I’m with the pezmeister or whatever his name is. Everyone loves fireworks. Some just don’t want to admit it or just want to spoil other people’s fun.
