Ditto, but 512gb. I ordered 15 minutes after release and I should have paid the $9 for expedited shipping.

I paid for expedited shipping. No movement on shipping estimate. Shows Jul 18-20 still. :(

I am probably in that small group of people who feels they have again raised the prices. When the new design arrived in 2016 they bumped up the price by $500 mostly because of the touch bar and now again it has gone up by $400-500 by adding 2 more cores. I configured 2.9Ghz CPU with 16GB RAM and the price is insane. They still kept the touch bar which I personally feel is a gimmick. I wanted to buy one for personal use for photography and video editing, some hands on development if needed and maybe that is why I feel the price is high because I will not be making money of my laptop. I still feel that $3600 for that configuration is just highway robbery.

Nice, they sold one!

Sure hope the ****** keyboard is fixed. Have the late 2016 MBP but continue to keep going back to my trusty 2011 MBP as I get irritated with my click keyboard and sticky enter key on the late 2016.

They have a repair program, you could do that and not whine about it

you must have done something wrong. according to your specs it is $2800 for the 15 inch. I configured a similar Dell, not that much different. And Dells are far more prone to failure, IMO.

No, seriously. Reading MR lately, it’s seemed like every freaking MBP has a bad keyboard - but I’d venture that many of the people who are ranting don’t even OWN MacBook Pros, much less have problematic keyboards. They see a “-gate” and latch onto it because it’s fun to bash on stuff. It’s NOT fun to say “Uh, my MBP is awesome and the keyboard is one of the best things about it” because then you’re just a shill or an apologist, amirite?

By the way, the repair program is NOT a “smoking gun” that points to culpability - as anyone who has ever conceded an argument just to end it can tell you. Sometimes it’s easier just to nod your head and move on, even if you know you’re right. THAT’S what Apple’s policy on the keyboards smells like to me.

tl;dr I suppose we’ll never see the numbers on this, but I suspect it’s a WAY smaller issue than the hating on MR would suggest. For the majority of late-model MBP owners, there just isn’t anything to raise its ugly head in the first place.

*I own a 2017 13” MBP and it is awesome.
You have fairly selective vision. On MR, there are almost just as many "my keyboard is perfect" posts as there are "my keyboard sucks" posts. I guess narrative determines visual focus. The one thing you are right about is people are more apt to complain if they have an issue than they are to praise when things are right. Things being right is expected behavior. Things being wrong is not the expectation. So yeah, people speak up when things are wrong.

Keyboard issues don't make someone a hater just like your awesome MBP doesn't make you an apologist. To make anecdotes (there's and yours) out to be anything other than personal observations is nothing but folly.

is not about hardware and it's about output.. if you can manage to recoup 6k in one year investment okay.. But if no, better buy better equip for your work with other platform..

** if you aren't us like me, refurbish don't existed. :(

I have owned MacBook Pros since 2010, updating every couple years. I have never had to use my warranty or AppleCare. My usage did not change with my 2016 and it did not take long to start having keyboard trouble. I am a heavy user and the CPU/fans often get hot. I believe there is a correlation, though I can't prove it. When I got my computer back, I stopped running intense applications for a while. No trouble during that time. Shortly after I started running it hard again, a key failed. No spills or unusual foreign substances introduced to the keyboard.

So they finally gave me a new 2017 MacBook Pro with assurance the issue had been rectified. I used it for surfing and e-mail for quite a while with no problem. Then, I starting running heavier loads and had another key fail. They replaced the top case again. It failed again just recently and they replaced the top case with what they purport to be a modified version to rectify the problem.

Four keyboard replacements (and a loose USB-C port) made for four trip to the "depot" for repair and one swap. All failed keys were toward the left/lower side of the keyboard. My left "Control" and "Shift" keys, spacebar, the S key if I recall correctly. I have every right to be frustrated. Apple is not right about this. They created a poor design.

I glad these came out before my 2015 Applecare is up so I will get a better re-sale value on my old machine - I am twisting my wife's arm to give me her Apple discount too ....:)

Please do tell how Dells are more prone to failure.
Do you people actually read your own post before hitting reply?
Total nonsense.

2.9, 16GB, 1TB 15 inch is coming at 3500. Same laptop for 2017 was 3100. You have configured the 2.6 with 512GB. So for 2 cores there is a $400 jump. Is that worth it? Like I said not for my usage. A pro earning money out of it will definitely not mind. My work gives me Dell latitude so need the Mac for personal stuff like Lightroom etc. so from 2015 price has gone up $800 for similar configuration. I put it to touchbar and 2 additional cores. Does the DDR4 RAM cost more?

No one else can have an opinion! Especially not opinions different from mine! Even if they CLEARLY label it as an opinion!

And so it came to pass that the King declared the law upon the land.

Annnnnnd of course I bought a new MacBook Pro just a week ago. From B&H, so no 14-day return privilege either. FML.

Whoever gets theirs tomorrow do us a favor; eat a muffin and drip crumbs on the keyboard. Let us know if you can blow the crumbs out or if the keys stick.

Sorry about your bad luck. Sincerely. But IMHO you got a lemon (or perhaps more than one). The fact that it is supremely frustrating to you as a faithful user does not make it a more frequently-occurring problem globally.

I've had terrible luck with Dells and cannot say enough awful things about their service. They have a problematic reputation which IMHO is richly deserved. Never again. Especially after trying an Acer-- much cleaner machine, less bloatware, perceptibly better quality than Dell.

I'd like to see some benchmarks - both single core/multi core tests on these new laptops. I like the idea of a 16gb/512/quad core 13" device. I'd just rather see it in an 15W NTB version...

Is there any point of buying a MacBook now while in less than 2 years, Apple is going to use their own chip for their MacBook line of products? In less than 2 years, you can’t install a new app or upgrade the OS unless you buy a new MacBook with Apple own chip.

0 sympathy for you. Apple actually has an active keyboard service program (https://www.apple.com/support/keyboard-service-program-for-macbook-and-macbook-pro/), so stop whining pointless arguments on MR, put your big boy pants on and get it fixed .

Mmm... that just started. And it won't fix anything unless the replacement keyboard design has changed. So it's a big deal. And a big waste of time when one needs the laptop for work as often the computer is sent pin for repair. The 2016-2017 keyboard design is crap and needs servicing pretty regularly based on your work environment and how much dust exposure it gets. I'm also waiting to see whether the slightly modified keyboard design fixed the issue. THEN I will bring mine in for repair.

I just can't bring myself to pay what they want for storage and memory upgrades and I'm not sure a suitcase of dongles and drives is the solution. I need iFixIt to tell me what really is and isn't user upgradeable.

I would like to know what is the minimum SSD storage config to get max (or close to max) transfer speed in 13-inch Pro with touch bar.
Probably 512GB or 1TB i can imagine.

Intel would have to release the 8th generation of the CPUs Apple needs for the nTB before being able to make you that machine. But for all we know, the 13” nTB will be EOLed.
