If they truly plan to charge upwards of $1,000 then it needs to be THE BEST. Their camera is already not the best on a smartphone, could you imagine paying 1,000, which would be approaching the realm of almost 2x as much as a premium Android device? They're getting into crazy territory with their pricing, to the point they're eliminating perfectly good marketshare. $6k Macs and $1k+ phones...ay yi yi Tim

You can take it to the bank, Bawston. Apple is going to sell this thing, unapologetically, to record levels.

And at $1,000[est]?

Because they can!

[I am not speaking for myself. I am happy with my SE, and see no reason to fork that kind of money to Apple for a phone/communicator/music player. And not because "I cannot afford it". Au contraire, I pay all my Apple devices cash-and-carry, without the need for financial trickery.]

The screen to the left and right of the earpiece looks really out of place. If that lights up I'm curious what it truly display.

Otherwise this things will sell like crazy. Curious if the 7S/7S Plus gets wireless charging. That's one way for them not to look stale up against the iPhone X.

not sure if I'm the only one 'cause I don't read this anywhere but I'm still disappointed that, based on the latest rumors, the screen isn't a real edge-to-edge like this one:

Vertical camera....sigh...no wireless charging...
How do we know know wireless charging? And what's so great about it anyway? You still have to be near an outlet to charge it.

Is that even possible? Even the S8 has small bezels around the edge.

less cable breakage and less hassle of plugging and unplugging. I have a phone with wireless charging and you don't know what you're missing

the edge-to-edge screen of the S8 wasn't even imaginable years ago

Is a few mm really that big of a deal? It isn't like the device would have to be huge. They keep wanting to make it thinner, thinner, thinner. Battery problems would be solved, and the ugly form of the camera bump. What's not to like?
What makes you think battery problems would be solved by adding a few mm? i don't think batteries work that way - you can't add a tiny amount and expect to get hours more life. And truth be told, the iPhone has about the best battery life out there (many studies have confirmed this).

I still have a hard time believing they do the cutout at the top.

How do they handle the UI / UX. Cut out the clock and site (for instance in safari)? Add additional things above signal strength and the battery indicator we haven't thought of yet?

Cutouts and curved corners seems sloppy to me.

What a lot of people are forgetting is, the screen size is bigger, not including those top corners. Those are just bonus spaces. Think of having black all the way across. Instead, they are utilizing all available screen space for the screen. The interface will still be the same with some changes to utilize that space.

That was never going to happen. Looks ridiculous with the earpiece right in middle of the screen. Plus there is no front camera in that render.

This would explain why Apple has decided to move UI titles out of the top center of the phone and placed them lower justified left in Huge font. There's no space for it anymore at the top center.

Yeah...I think this is believable but what annoys me is that this is a design change that everybody should be getting this year, not just a selective group of customers willing to pay the absurd price of this new device. It should be Apple's standard offering this year and not some magic lamp of an iPhone. Usual Apple tactics though - make people pay more for something new, something that should have come out a couple years ago.

it could go without the earpiece like the Mi Mix. the front camera, that's where the problem is
