Unless a giant is holding that iPad, that's no 12.9" model. Hand on the left, an average sized thumb would suggest a smaller model.

Hey, improvements are cool...but The ONLY camera that really needs improving on the 12.9" iPad Pro is the FRONT facing camera for FaceTime, Skype and other such applications. Taking pics with the back camera is silly enough on the 9.7" or even the iPad mini. It looks downright ridiculous holing up the 12.9" iPad Pro to take a picture.

In your opinion. Besides many people use the camera for scanning documents, business cards, expense receipts etc. Don't assume everyone has the same use case....

I get that the efficacy of the iPad is driven by hardware over physical attributes, but isn't it high time it started to look at least a *little* different? Maybe by following the design language of the iPhone 6(s) and its curved glass/aluminium contours.

The screen size is fantastic. It's the Apps and iOS that need improvements.
More like some developers (including Apple themselves) need to stop being lazy - Procreate, Coda, Pixelmator, Autodesk Graphic and Shapr3D are examples of amazing apps done with the current frameworks Apple provides.

If all the keys had an OLED panel, it could be useful, i.e multiple languages, DVORAK support, special symbols when you are gaming… But just getting the function keys. I don't see the point.

Here is my wish list for MBP.

- Kaby Lake
- Optane storage
- Wireless charging of Apple Watch, iPhone and mouse
- Smaller/lighter AC adapter
- No screen bezels so we can have larger screen or smaller sized laptop
- Light weight internal graphics card, but powerful external card as add-on (for VR)
- Fingerprint / retina scanner
- Better speakers, at least on par with iPad Pro
- Leap Motion / Kinect capabilities for in air gestures
- Water resistant, so you can spill coffee on it
- Better camera, at least on par with a Logitech C920 Pro
- Built-in laptop
feet that extends when you turn power on

But most likely we will get an overpriced product with a 16 month old processor and some more memory. It's all about the stock owners now, not building great product that transforms the industry.

Except there is no 16GB 12.9" iPad Pro. Currently the smallest capacity is 32GB and I don't see them offering a 16GB instead. Likely just a prototype/test unit.
I didn't say they were releasing a 16GB version. I was simply saying that it is a 16GB model...not 12GB.

So the iPad Pro is a success?
I always imagined it will go the way for the G4 cube

It's a status symbol in China. Of course its a success. Chinese friend bought an iPad Pro. What I asked 'Why not a regular iPad' he replied 'iPad Pro is better and more expensive' So yeah. China.

Even though this is a prototype, if Apple were to adequately reduce the price of a 12 GB iPad, it might actually be an attractive option for me. I'm currently using iCloud as my primary file system for all of my devices (my mac too). I'm on the 200 GB tier currently and have plenty of space.

It would be interesting if they created an entirely cloud-based device, almost like a Chromebook, and almost everything would be stored in the cloud, even apps. Not sure how something like that would be implemented, but if done right, and they made a cheap cellular version of the iPad Pro I might actually pick that over the $600 32 GB model.

This is what I am likely to buy this year from Apple. In fact, I was contemplating delaying my trip to the US later this year; because I didn't know if the company would launch a revision. Especially since Apple launched the 9.7 Pro with new improvements, which the initial iPad Pro 12.9 lacks. I want to buy it to complete my ecosystem and replace my HP EliteBook and a HP Desktop. Although its kinda overkill for what I already have, which includes the Surface Pro 3 which is super good Tablet; the iPad will compliment my workflow across the iPhone and MacBook Pro. Its gonna cost me an arm and a leg, I will likely need the smart cover. I considering skipping the pencil and going with the base storage model since I will need the SIM model so I can activate data plans.

Amidst the recent flurry of videos and images of iPhone 7 mockups coming out of China, one pair of pictures that emerged over the weekend claims to offer evidence of Apple's successor to the first iteration 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

Sent in to AppleInsider and said to originate from a Chinese supplier, the combined image below shows a device identified with model number MH1C2CD/F, which has yet to be assigned to an iPad by Apple so far.

While the identifier proves little, the nomenclature is in line with Apple's existing numbering convention for its iPad Pro range, and Apple is due to refresh its largest tablet this fall.

AppleInsider notes that the device's screen shows a 12GB capacity, which is just enough for installing an OS and apps for internal testing and debugging, suggesting the device could be a pre-production model or prototype.

Based on previous updates to the company's tablet range, customers can expect a new 12.9-inch iPad Pro to feature a faster A10X processor and a better camera, with a good chance it will inherit the True Tone display seen in the 9.7-inch iPad Pro. 3D Touch is also a possibility, although Apple would need to have overcome the challenges involved in porting the technology to a larger screen.

Apple is also expected to launch thinner and lighter MacBook Pro models this fall, with some rumors suggesting a dynamic OLED touch panel could feature as part of a planned redesign.

Maybe you should retitle this "First alleged Leaked Images Surface of 12.9-inch 'iPad Pro 2'

Your title makes it sound like they are calling the device the iPad Pro 2 Surface. I'm sure Microsoft would appreciate it :)

They are calling it iPad Pro 2 Pro. The extra Pro at the end makes it $200 costlier.

Huh.... I figured that the enormous screen accounted for some of that.
Thanks for clearing it up. It's just the name; gotcha.
That must be why the + is $100 more as well. Because of the name.

I don't care about hardware upgrades for the iPad pro as much as I care about making iOS 10 optimised for it

100% Agree!

The iPad Pro will never be "really Pro", let alone a computer replacement, until iOS gives the iPad a differentiated treatment. Right now, an iPad is a nothing but a glorified iPhone since the iOS and the Apps pretty much share the same identity with the iPhone.

If the iPad Pro is ever to become a laptop replacement, it needs its own iOS Pro.
