quiet! quiet! quiet! Dont give them ideas for thinnovation!!!

Oh it'll get thinner... Just not the camera on back. Soon it'll be like a push pin attached to paper.

I tried illustrating with my new 9.7 iPad Pro and had trouble dealing with the iPad tipping corner to corner as I drew

Why are they still even bothering with iPad? The sales are low, iOS 10 doesn't help it, it can't replace an actual laptop. I don't see what is pro about this. More like iPad Gimped to me.

I'm really tempted to buy the larger model, but I'm just worried about it ending up like the iPhone 6 Plus did for me—TOO BIG.

I've got the thing and it is way too big. It's heavy, kind of clunky, and doesn't do a whole lot more than my phone. It's quite possibly my worst Apple purchase of all time (and I've owned a G4 Cube). That said, I'd probably change my tune if iOS were optimized to accommodate the hardware in some way. And I'd I'm not being picky here. I'd take anything, really - additional multitasking options, bluetooth mouse support, a file system, whatever. It just needs something to justify the "Pro" moniker besides the Apple Pencil (which isn't even included with the device!).

I was just thinking I would purchase the 12.9 Pro. Now I am thinking I should hold out. I definitely want the 9.7 Pro though. Maybe I will purchase this instead.

I am also interested to see any changes to the Apple Pencil and how they plan to expand on this.

IKR? I do work on it...but I got mac pro...it's no biggie..but eventually i'll need one. I watch videos and surf web as well. Do you personally believe this rumor is real?
Hard to tell, but chances are very high that they release an updated version of the iPad Pro 12.9". Btw. If they release something new, and you decide to sell it, you will lose a lot of money. At the moment you still have all options open to go, without wasting money.

Very wise. I agree. It's within 14 days to return fully. I will just do that.

I was tempted for the iPad pro at one point, but I find my other computers to be more useful. It will be interesting to see how Apple improves it.

But Tim Cook said the iPad Pro will ultimately replace your laptop/PC, so I'm thinking he would disagree with you. (Joking)

In any case, Cook did say this and I am curious to see what enhancements Apple makes to ultimately convert the iPad into a computer, which would replace your MBP Or iMac. I think I will at least be purchasing the 9.7 Pro in September. Maybe hold off on the 12.9 until Gen. 2 arrives.

I bought a Surface Pro 4 fanless m3 with 128gb version last week on sale from BB for 600 using an EDU coupon they give out. All I can say is, I sold my ipad Mini 4, Dell 7000 Android tablet, Dell i7 2-in-1 laptop, and a Dell Venue 11 Pro tablet PC. That should tell you how good the Surface is, no point in messing around with all that other stuff anymore. In fact, I even bought my wife a smaller Surface 3 with cellular for her to take when she's on the road.

Those iPads and Android tablets look like a joke compared to the Surface and the sad part is, an iPad and a Galaxy Tab S2 are almost the same price as the Surface.
People buy ipads because of the flawless tablet experience......no matter how great the surface performs as a desktop OS...it's a horrible tablet with few good tablet apps, and only 3 or 4 hours of battery life on max settings......

I hope they can make it significantly lighter, and please add 3d touch!

For as large as it is, it's surprisingly light as it is. I think you mean Thinner, at least that's the term Apple uses. 3D Touch would be difficult in a display this large. I would like to see this too, but I don't think we will see this in version 2, in my opinion.

Want to buy a new iPad pro for school
Is it more likely to come out in September or October?

Last years Key Note was in September 2015, the 12.9 Pro was announced then and later launched in Mid November 2015. Possibly the same time frame. But I don't see Apple releasing a new Pro quite yet, it's been less than a year. I was thinking early 2017 at the earliest. I think I will be picking up the 9.7 Inch this fall.

Dell is a joke anyways. At least you had the decency to sell those.

okay..i just bought ipp 12.9 few days ago...should I return it?

No. Keep it. I honestly do not see the iPad Pro being refreshed until at least March 2017. It has not even been a year yet and Consumer exhaustion would be prevalent. I will be picking up the 9.7 Pro this fall.

Sooooo I'm confused: the article says this is supposed to be a refresh on the 12.9" Pro, but unless that man holding it has massive hands, that looks like a 9.7" to me.

It'll be a year in November. And unless you *need* pen support, get an Air 2 instead. It's not worth it otherwise.

Unless you have a need for it right now or got a really good deal on it, return it. The 12.9" was originally launched in November last year, so it's due for a refresh.

That is true. It hasn't been a year yet. This rumor of ipp 2 was kind of iffy...I mean..if it was going to be made..I would expect some type of prototype. On the other hand, since it came out/announced in November...it would be a year by nov 2016. I hate purchasing in mid cycle...but I happens.

November part was the gotcha part. It's not "need" but more of "want." Although I have a desktop Mac to do work and surf web...it would be nice to have a mobile idevice to watch movie in bed...but if it's due for update...sure I guess I could wait.

Good point.

I still have my Air 2. I love it and still just as powerful as day one.

This is a 9 Inch device.
The Home-Button on my iPhone roughly measures 1 cm
Taken this into account the screen on the images measures at roughly 9 inch.

This or the homebutton on the iPad pro has a 1,4cm Homebutton

It's a 9.7" iPad clearly. Holding both my iPad air 2 and IPP 12.9 , the thumb placement in the picture gives it away and if you have a 12.9" IPP go to Settings/General/About on the 12.9" Pro the whole page fits on the screen, where as in the "leaked" pictures you can see you would still need to scroll to see "Legal" and "Trust Store".

Nice try.

I don't think the larger iPad Pro needs to be a ton faster, but if they could get the weight down by 25% or so without sacrificing performance, that would be a huge upgrade. Right now it's a bit heavy and bulky for me to justify against the bigger screen (not to mention expensive).

Honestly, I would not be opposed to them making the case some kind of grippy, rubberized, high-impact plastic (maybe with an aluminum skeleton?) instead of metal. It's basically unusable without a case (way too slippery), which just adds to the bulk and weight.

Absolutely hate the huge amount of bezel surrounding this monster.
Had it been thicker and smaller form factor, I may just have bought one (even if it was thicker)

As someone who uses a Surface Pro, I'll agree to disagree.. I much prefer my iPP to the Surface any day of the week. So few native Windows 10 apps, and just because it CAN run legacy Windows applications doesn't mean it SHOULD.

Shrinking the bezels and going with an OLED display would reduce weight significantly. Adding 3D Touch and Tru Tone are pretty obvious. Ditching Lighting and just going with one USB-C port would be amazing (but not holding my breath for this one). Having an option to increase memory to 8 gigs and 500gigs of storage would be nice. I can see all this happening by next fall 2017 (save for USB-C).

Hard to tell, but chances are very high that they release an updated version of the iPad Pro 12.9".

I'm inclined to believe they won't update it this year and maybe not even next March (when the 9.7 hits it's one-year mark). I just bought a 12.9" over the weekend because I get 18 months to pay for it and that offer will expire well before the Fall update schedule. True Tone sounds nice, but the current display is amazing so it is a feature I personally don't feel the need to pay more for so if they do update this Fall, I will have no regrets.
