Taste is subjective.
Apple sold loads of iphone 6(s+) ' s.
Far more than previous models.
I like it a lot more than the 5 and 4.
I like the round shape, and the smaller chins compared to the 5 and 4.
The antenne lines on the white silver and black spacegrey are not obtrusive to me, they make the back less boring(don' t like the gold white combo though).
I hate the obtrusive camera though.
But if the iphone 7 is another iphone 6, without the lines, flush lens. Apple has lost it and the downfall will be complete.
It was simply pent up demand for a larger screen. They were years behind the curve on that.
Sales have tanked since.

Reminds me of this:
latest

Honestly, the idea of four lenses makes my mouth water.

I used to have one of those long ago! Well my dad did. Pretty cool if you like lenticular prints.

I hope has squared edges (like the 5s) and is lighter than the current 6s. I don't care about thickness. Of course, if the 5se looks good, that's what I may go with and that will keep me happy for 2-3 years. The only bad thing about the 5se is the rumored 1 GB RAM.

Not a fan of the sharp corners on the antenna lines of the original mock-up, so I've made a more rounded version which I think is closer to what Apple would do (if they did go that route).

IMHO the 6 / 6+ rounded edges are the worst of Apple's iPhone designs. It's slippery and extremely difficult to hold onto. I recently sold my 5s, and when I picked it up I was amazed at how comfortable it was in my hand. The 6 and 6+ are ergonomic failures. Nothing was gained. The display edge to phone edge is actually greater in the 6's over the 5's, only masked by a color change in chassis.

So if the iPhone 6s is 7.1mm thick and the camera protrudes, say, 0.5-1.0mm, and the iPhone 7 is rumored to be anywhere from 6.1-6.5mm and the camera will not protrude, that means that the camera went from around 7.5-8.0mm to around 6.0mm in size. I know they've reduced the camera size before with the iPhone 5 (which had the same camera as the 4s only with a sapphire crystal lens cover), but how would they manage it this time (since people say all the time that the laws of Physics do not allow Apple to do this)?

Anyway, to me, this is bad news because it most likely means that the iPhone 7 will have the exact same camera as the 6s (no larger aperture or pixels). It probably won't have OIS, unless they managed to include it somehow. I would have preferred a protruding camera with better specs, but then again, Apple is obsessed with thinness. We'll have to wait for the 7s for meaningful camera improvements again :mad::rolleyes:

Meanwhile, the S7 is rumored to have an f/1.7 aperture (vs. the 6s's laughable-for-2016 f/2.2, an aperture size introduced since 2013).

They have to save the big camera improvement for the 7s. That is if there is a 7s since s models will probably be a bigger sales disappointment for Apple from now on with the extinction of 2-year subsidized contracts.

"30 minutes ago Macrumours commissioned 'digital artist' Pok3monFan'99 to produce a rendition of what may be the next iteration of the iPhone"

I Jest, I know it's hard to run an article without an image and Macrumours get's flak for promoting various peoples 'concepts'. Then people who didn't actually read the article fly off the handle regarding an ill conceived design choice.

No one can mistake this for a real design, so rudimentary photoshopping in this case is better than some random dudes fantasy render.

Will they remove the heaphone jack slot to give way to wireless headphone and make it more slim ?

Apple should put the headphone jack on the front face of the iPhone and give it a bigger battery to match the thickness needed for the headphone jack :)

Does the protruding camera really bother that many people? I mean I guess I'm not bothered by it because my phone is always in a case, but still

Same for antenna bands really

But people would be left with nothing to complain then!! It have to be something, right?
[doublepost=1454481485][/doublepost]
So no point in getting hopes up for further reduction of bezels and possibly no home button / touch id integration inside the screen? Well then..

I don't think that will happen, at least till the iPhone 8.
[doublepost=1454482142][/doublepost]
And the hardcore Apple defenders would say, "Stop complaining! Apple doesn't owe you anything! You're all acting entitled! If you want a battery in your iPhone, stop being cheap and pay more for it! Don't like it? Go to Android!"

You are quite right. It seems this forum is divided in 2 groups, 1- Apple defenders, 2-Cry Babies.

but what is your point?
I say apple should make a new design and you don' t?
I thonk they should make a new model, because i want to look at something different than the last 2 years.
And this will improve sales of the iphone 7.
People want to see that they have something new.
And some people want other people to see they have the latest model.

lets not forget the design rumour for the iphone 6, first appear on February so this could be very legit
[doublepost=1454484769][/doublepost]Apple always lock the design for the Sept iphone on March

If it uses similar design to current models, expect a big crash in share price and sales figures of iPhone.

It's the same. Everyone just accepts cases on phones for whatever reason.

The OP compared a phone case to putting a case on a watch and bumpers on a car. A poor analogy at best and practically not the same at all.

A case on a phone is about preventing unavoidable wear and tear in normal use, for which the manufacturer understands and arguably designed the iPhone 6 in mind. Hence arguably the protruding camera and the allowance of ultra thinness for which [I am personally aware..] my case has reinforced it's structural integrity at times.

I use my watch and car everyday along with my iPhone. However I can safely say that after 2-3 years there will generally be less damage and scratches on my car, or watch than my iPhone if it had no case. My old 3GS was a good example of wear, from having no case.

This is because of the relatively heavy and repeated use of that item in 'higher risk' environments which cannot be compared to a car, or a watch.

Now if you could throw your car in your bag, or stuff it in your pocket with a your keys, coins, or balance it on a bench in the gym etc, this would be a different story and why it remains a poor comparison.

So, the iPhone 7 will be different form the iPhone 6 and 6S in that Apple removes things that they added when they introduced the iPhone 6 (antenna bands + protruding camera)?

That's one way to "innovate": add ugly design features in one generation, call it "a big change". Two years later, remove said features for a new design and sell it as a big leap forward.

lol crap old design. Is apple lack of innovative design?
with this design i am seeing apple sales towards decline side.

MEMO to Jony: I've you are going to have bands *anywhere* on the phone, at least color key them so they blend in????? How is this that difficult? They DO NOT enhance the look of the phone. Unless Apple figured everyone would put the phone in a case anyway, and who cares, it was dumb.

EDIT: And Steve never would have let the protruding camera fly.

He did let it fly on the iPod ?

It's making me laugh how some people are getting worked up over a RENDER of an iPhone 7 that we don't even know exists yet. Apple could be testing multiple models, the image in this thread is not a leak, until we see a leaked image and or Apples announcement in September we won't know for sure.

On the same point, I don't know what people are expecting, I can't see Apple changing the shape of the iPhone drastically, thinner and lighter is sometimes helpful when it comes to weight (especially the iPhone Plus).

Just make a bigger thinner iPhone 5S with all the new features, Jesus Christ Apple.

Why did the render in the article remove just two of the antenna lines, and not all of them?

EDIT: Yes, I see the rumor says the side and top lines will remain. Still, why not make a mockup without the lines at all?
Because, you know, it has to have antenna to work as a phone :rolleyes:

In a case there's nothing protruding, you are right, but a flushed camera is welcomed.

Absolutely. You know my underwear is always hidden by trousers but I still don’t buy ugly keks.
and exactly who cares about your underwear ? o_O

Use that extra space for a bigger battery rather than different hardware.
a bigger battery means a bigger and heavier phone. No thanks...
I can obtain 6-8 hrs of actual usage from my iPhone 6S, that's definitely enough for a single day.
In MY opinion using a phone more than a few hours per day is insane.

The design looks the same to me.

apple-iphone-5-vs-iphone-4-thickness-1000x387.jpg
They are not the same, but they share the same "family feeling".
The iPhone 6 was a bigger departure from that design.
[doublepost=1454496053][/doublepost]
I'm actually with you, and my iPhone 6 is still holding strong, I might just sit this one out and enjoy the savings for the next 2 years, until iPhone 8 is out
Please ! Don't sit on your iPhone 6: it will bend :D:D:D
[doublepost=1454496540][/doublepost]
What's wrong with that? Sometimes people take looks into consideration when they buy stuff. Also, my iPhone is running perfectly fine, which means one less reason to upgrade now when I can wait for a new design.
The iPhone 5S share the same design but with much better hardware than the iPhone 5....

I'm more bothered by the front-facing camera and proximity sensor. I can't buy me a white iPhone because of how ugly all these different holes look.
proximity-sensor-iphone-61.jpg

Make 'em go away.
Did you realize your phone NEED holes for those sensors to work ?
Don't buy a white phone if it bother you so much ....

Nobody said that (basically).

What a beauty ! :cool::cool::cool:
[doublepost=1454497576][/doublepost]
All this time, I thought Apple knew what we want..by telling us what we want. Apparently, they are lacking in that skill.
yes, because they sold such a few phones ... they are lacking in the skill indeed ... :rolleyes:

At the end of the day, the iPhone 7 will look identical to the 6 and 6S at a glance.

Apple really knows and has the power to milk the same old look for years.

No wonder they make so much profit.

Nothing fresh and new this time around... :eek:
why are you so obsessed about apple's profit ?
you keep speaking about that , even with multiple posts in the same thread ....

Breaking news : a commercial company looking for profits.

Personally will not be upgrading to anything but a 6S+ if they go back to straight edges. Rounded edges has been the best choice they've made design wise since the 3G iPhone.
