Hey Lilo, I am still waiting for your said Samsung Tablet? According to you it should be released by the 15th of March? But weren't the Samsung announcement in Barcelona not a total Anti-Climax? :p

so it is official then
that Samsung will beat Apple to the tablet market with "better than retina" screen ("retina" being a trademark is reserved for Apple and Samsung's resolution will be better than that of iPad 3).

Is that why they list (meaningless) number of GPU cores, screen resolution, storage size? Because small (512MB) RAM in iDevices is a major reason for crashes which I'd say affect user experience in a big way :)

Probably they list it to point out that they got it right in the graphics and UI department. Because even my iPad 1 is much smoother compared to my Galaxy Note. Especially the Browser.

They are probably too busy supplying panels to Apple :D On the other hand, Samsung dees have a response to iPad announcement:

If iPad has resulted in the post=PC era, why did I see only laptops in the audience during the keynote? No matter what Apple tries to say, the iPad can't do it all. And it is not really the ideal device for creating content, despite Phil Schiller's commentary. Rather, iPad is a device for consuming content.

I feel bad for Pages developers on iPad. While lots have purchased that App, how man people really use it? I mean REALLY use it. Not for the 2 line recipe you want to store somewhere. Did any journalist or blogger at today's iPad event use the iPad Pages app to post the live blog? I always thought I'd hear Steve or now Tim say at the end of a Keynote, "Today's Keynote was made entirely on the iPad". But that day hasn't come yet.

i don't necessarily disagree. However, you do sound like the old physical keyboard smartphone folks who swore they wouldn't switch to a touch screen keyboard...:)

Yes. Totally Meh. A blown up Note. Even the resolution remained the same. But probably they can't increase it at the moment because Android is quite laggy even on only HD resolution devices. Maybe Jelly Bean will be better in that regard.

with all those fantastic stats, i wonder why apple still has 75% percent of the tablet market??
it cant be the user interface and useablity.

Everyone knows the stylus is the wave of the future.

Is that how you thought about iPad 1/iPad 2 too? Similar relationship between iPhone and iPad - and neither of them have pen interface.

Nope, I think soon all artists will be drawing with their fingers (on iPads) :D

Yes. That is why I skipped the iPad 2.

I couldn't care less about the pen interface on my 5.3 Note, though. 255 levels of pressure sensitivity? I can see maybe 2, when I try to draw a line. A thin line or a thick line :D

But if people like or use it, why not.

well there goes apples core audience, artists who draw on ipad. I expect sales to go down 80% ;)

They won't. The screen resolution is too crappy :D And if the Device is as reliable as my 5.3 Note (Freezes 3-4 times a week, or colors go "inverted" randomly which requires a restart as well), then the Stylus will end up in someones rear :p

255 levels of pressure sensitivity isn't exactly an amazing amount for graphic design. Wacom tablets are still king when it comes to designing with a pen/stylus and those graphic design tablets will remain that way until these kinds of tablets catch up. It is nice to be able to draw on the screen though, but I wouldn't really rely on any of the current non-graphic design tablets to do much (in the way of graphic design of course lol)

If it's advertised as "the new iPad" but labeled just "iPad" on the back? Not terribly awkward.

If the back actually said "the new iPad"? Yeah, awkward.

my iPhone 3GS just says iPhone too though.

I love the extra bit down the bottom where it does not compare to Apple because Apple beats it in every feature there rofl. Samsung not only copies but sounds bias. Great stuff so glad I don't own a Samsung product.

It's funny isn't it. All the android users say that their devices are smooth. I have used a few and they are all chunky. I think you have to use an iPod / Pad for a time to understand the definition of smooth before they make assertions about what is equal and what is not ahhaha

Don't need the new iPad 3 .... but I want! Here I Go Again! Living on poverty level income makes it tuff to keep up to date with the latest greatist most groovy Apple products. Apple hardship program now needed.

Judging by your signature, you have no idea what 'poverty level' is.

All of those points relate to just one feature, the ability to run two apps side by side. An interesting feature, but for me personally, it doesn't light my noodle.

Timmy

I loved it when Tim Cook said 'Macintosh', I think he'll be a good presenter, different from SJ and perhaps lacking the certain it factor SJ had, but he's cool, calm and collected and the others like Phil Schiller and especially Scott Forstall I think have been improving

So YOU'RE the guy who bought the new Samsung tablet!

Don't worry, I'm sure that after selling one, sales will groundswell into the dozens! :p

Customer: "What happens if I drop it in the toilet?"
Salesman: "It breaks immediately."

I'm thinking about getting one of these iPads. It'll be interesting to see what happens if I do a 6-foot drop test and a water intrusion test on this new iPad. I hope it does better than the last model. Otherwise, it looks like a good toy... I mean, productivity tool. How long is the waiting line?

I really want to see this thing in person. It simply looks incredible, and that's only on my MBP!!! Well, this and the Samsung OLED HDTVs ;) Now if only I could have both :D

I KNEW there was something special about the stylus that I lost for my Palm Pilot.

My kids keep asking me to help them find their stylus for their Nintendo DSi which ends up in the couch or under the seat in the car. Besides I have been using a stylus with my iPad for the last two years, all ten of them :p

I think dozens is very optimistic, if you ask me. :D

[1]Apps must be optimized for simultaneous viewing.

Googles "Optimized for Samsung Simultaneous viewing"
finds one mention of this feature on the second page that then states there aren't any apps that use is.

Cook has a certain class that Jobs lacked but his presentations have been very unoriginal, they sound too much like Jobs. I suppose Cook will develop his own style in time though.
