Still waiting for my 6s+ RG but having a chance to play around with a Gold 6s+ and RG6s this weekend. First impressions:

- super fast processor and Touch ID

- 3DTouch - I WANT IT ON EVERYTHING

- camera is fast and good especially low light (selfie flash is crazy good)

- Rose Gold is a weird combo between pink/copper and varies much depending on lighting (I like it)

- haptic engine MUCH better than previous vibrator motor (feedback is so precise and evenly distributed across the entire surface of phone)

- Live Photos will take some getting used to

- wish there was a 3DTouch info page in the setup process with more info

- 3DTouch camera icon on Lockscreen better be coming soon

- really solid upgrades overall

Now I just need my RG to be here yesterday.

Unbelievable phone, it's at least 5+ years ahead of its time. 3d touch is here and you can NEVER go back. Just phenomenal.

I've spent a few hours with my 6S Plus so far. Feels absolutely terrific. What strikes me most is just how effortless it is to jump around the forums on MacRumors. The A9 with 2GB of RAM makes web browsing feel like using a native app. Everything is buttery smooth and there are virtually no reloads. I can go back and forward through web pages in my history instantly. Super nice.

I just loaded up seven different websites of varying sizes and I'm able to switch between them all without a refresh. Also closed the browser, reopened and it was the same. Unless there's another scenario you want me to try?

This was the main reason for my upgrade. Have not experienced the constant refreshing yet.

I'm disappointed that Apple didn't include haptic feedback when typing on keyboard or dialer. My phone is on silent 99% of the time and the feedback is nice. This has been one of the main reasons I jailbreak.

I can't wait to see what jailbreaks bring with the new taptic engine. Finally a haptic feedback that actually feels good and isn't loud.

I suggest that Apple to use the 3D touch feature to activate the locked screen to check the time and notifications and avoid the faster touch ID

(Writng the suggestion to Apple) :)

Thanks for the comments all, problem with the fingerprint thing is, I've partially solved this by only adding my thumb prints to be able to unlock the phone, so I can press the Home button with my index finger and not unlock it.

But, when I'm holding the phone, the only fingers that are ever used due to me holding it, are my thumbs, which means lighting up the phone and swiping up the camera shortcut is almost impossible. The home button is my "go to" button to wake up the phone whether it's in my hand or not and there's no easy solution where I effectively cannot respond to notifications while it's in my hand.

Seems petty and ridiculous but I hold the phone 2-handed so my other fingers are all behind the screen and if I'm using it one handed, the thumb is the only free digit to use.

Anyway, enough of my moaning, I am overall loving the new phone!
Use thumbnail to push

see that is what has me wanting it so bad! I skate/longboard as well and I feel like that beautiful beast would shatter rather easily if I fell. I could always be an adult and take it out of my pocket before I skate but in my old age i usually just longboard down the street to the neighbors or out with my kid while he rides his bike and I fall at the dumbest times. Not even trying to do any tricks lol I will just fall out of nowhere like 1 time a month haha feel like I would have bad results with that big'ol screen. If they don't have a 6s this morning I will give it a try though for sure!
Have you considered an otter box (or similar) case for instances like this? Doesn't even have to be an all the time thing. We have an otter box on our iPad. My kid throws that thing around. I'd be pretty comfortable throwing that thing down a flight of stairs, too.

Finally, got mine today! (from AU Japan Carrier)

Impression: since I'm upgrading from Samsung S3 Mini (which was very outdated & laggy as hell) this is a really significant improvement! 3D Touch is very great, although can be tricky at first.

My first day impressions with a 6S+ are mixed. On the plus side the camera is much better than the 6+ and the phone runs faster.

The negatives for me are that the display glass is thicker and it doesn't have the same laminated look as the 6+. The display quality is (at least on the unit I have) not as good.

Music playback quality is not as good with headphones. It also is not as loud as the 6+. I'll be very curious to see the audio measurements of the 6S+.

The fingerprint sensor is so responsive that you cannot press the home button with a registered finger and not have it unlock the phone. Getting the time from the lock screen was pretty much impossible for me. Sure I could use my little finger or the side button but I am not going to do that.

It is ever so slightly thicker, just enough in my opinion to change look of the phone for the worse.

It seems unlikely that I will keep the one I received and I will stick with my 6+ for now.

definitely better than my 5s, obviously. but compared to my Note5, it feels a bit lacking. ignoring the more contrasty colours and deeper blacks of the N5, the N5 is just much more sharper with much more detail. yes, it's noticeable even on a screen of this size.

navigating between multiple apps is definitely quicker on the N5. I think a lot of it has to do with the nature of operation between the two different platforms. too bad the Pluses still didn't get multi-windows after iOS 9. ugh!

audio quality through the headphone jack definitely goes to the N5 with its Wolfson digital audio converter. it makes a set of measly earbuds sound like a pair of over-the-ear headphones with larger drivers.

I haven't played with the camera much yet, but in one particular scene I was testing, I noticed this had trouble shooting a subject that was standing in front of a window where the main source of light was behind said subject. they would almost always turn out dark no matter how I tried to shoot differently whereas the N5 could easily (in Auto) meter for the subject, getting a correct, or at least, better exposure.

all that being said, I'm still keeping it. I must have the best of both platforms. plus, as great as the N5 camera is, it just doesn't have Filmic Pro or do 240fps slowmo which was my main reason.

I bought mine for one specific reason. I need to be able to keep my company website logged in while I use the phone, maps, and email apps. My 6plus was maddening in that anytime I left safari i would come back to a refreshing page, then need to go through 2 stage authentication for the 100th time.

Happy to report that I still do need to refresh but only after going through 10 different apps. For the most part the 2 gigs solved my main issue.

For the frills. I am really happy with the camera. Side by side at night the 6s+ outclasses the 6+ handily. You can take some crisp photos with the 6+, but that 6s is on a different level.

I've had every generation iPhone, but last year I chose the 6. I thought the 6 was more than enough size bump from the 5S. Plus, I thought carrying the 6 Plus would be inconvenient to say the least. I also thought I would look like a moron using it in busy places. However, a part of me always thought if the Plus was a success, I could try it the next year and it would be THAT much better having it for the first time.

Fast forward one year, I had still never held a plus in person and hardly ever saw them in person, never up close. Therefore, I ordered it to make not only the new features something to look forward to, but the new size too.

Upon arrival, it was impressive. It was fun to wait the year as it truly did increase the anticipation and excitement, getting a brand new size again for the second straight year.

Restore went faster than on my 6, I suppose due to the faster processing power.

I think it's a wonderfully immersive experience when sitting to use the 6S Plus. However, it is awkward and obviously more so standing up. I could use the 6 comfortably one handed. I can hold the 6 Plus in one hand fine, but it is awkward to do more than a press here or there.

It does not feel like a phone. It feels exactly like the nickname these devices are coined, phablet.

Going back and forth to my iPhone 6, the 6 feels like a phone! However, pictures, websites, and email are nearly as good on the 6. Video is the one advantage on the Plus, more enjoyable on the plus.

I am grandfathered into unlimited data on AT&T and I can see consuming a lot of data on the Plus, and it may keep me with AT&T rather than move to T-Mobile. It's a powerful device to have a wireless 30Mbps+ connection built into it.

Overall, it's less comfortable to use, and it doesn't feel like a phone. However, it is cool. I'm not sure the Plus should even exist, I'm torn. I highly doubt I'll return it, I like it, but whenever I pick up the 6, it's also a "wow, this feels like a phone and it feels good." And again, most things are just as enjoyable on the 6.

3D Touch is good, but I forget to use it as otherwise it's still the iPhones we have always known. Live photos aren't as good as they sounded, but I wouldn't call it a flat out gimmick either.

Processor speed? Fast? Absolutely? However, the regular 6 was no slouch. I honestly notice virtually no difference in performance between my original 6 and the 6S Plus. I KNOW there is a big performance difference there, but my current uses leads to virtually no difference in the real world right now.

Overall, it was a fun day! I'm looking forward to seeing how my enjoyment of the Plus continues to change. I'm surprised it is turning more popular, the 6 does seem like a sweet spot, but still, I'm having fun using it despite it feeling less "right," in the hand. The changes to this generation feel minimal though, the biggest change for me is the size. We have reached a performance level in these phones, they are phones, that last year's model is plenty fast enough (at lest the 6 was, I know the Plus had some weaknesses last year).
