I notice it every time I scroll, swipe, etc., that's how bad it is. iPhone 13 Pro is perfect though. I also have IPS DCI-P3 monitor with 165Hz with 1-4ms response time. I actually stop to think if I really want to use iPad or Mac because of these slow screens. It's just sad.
You realize your frame of reference is atypical, yeah?

No keyboard backlight control?

Tried adding a control, fn, option, command with the brightness keys, but nothing…

Well, there is always Control Center:

Thank you. Yikes that actually is a lot bigger lol
The front photo is a bit deceptive because the tapering edges of the 2015 help mask the fact that it gets rather thick toward the middle. Picking them both up, weight and girth are quite similar, and I prefer the thick rounded edges on the 2021 to the sharp edges on the 2015. I've taken chunks out of furniture (and I think at one point my own shin) by accidentally bumping the 2015 against it.

Anyone coming from a 2015 15" shouldn't be concerned about size or portability of the 2021 16" at all in my opinion.

I literally wet sanded down the edges on my 2014 MBP 15" LOL

Believe me, I thought this was THE perfect laptop before info about these screens surfaced. I WANTED it to be perfect and I hate complaining BUT using +20ms response time screens in >$2000 computers is just wrong. To me, it's literally the only negative aspect of this laptop.

P.S iPad Pro has up to 58ms response time, it's insane.
Did.You.Actually.Use.Either? Ever?

Nah he's just playing with your new MBpro... probably has the location tracker around his dog's or cat's neck to look like he's making deliveries all over the area. Apple needs to put a useometer on these things to catch delivery-driver, launch-day fun. ;)
Same thing happened with my iPhone 13 Pro, arrived at 7:!5 PM or something. The part I hate is having to stay in all day to sign, I wish they would give a 2 hours delivery window.

You can always have them hold it at the nearest retail location... then go there and pick it up when you get confirmation that it is there. There's also UPS "access points" and other shippers seem to have similar options (I think Amazon calls theirs "lockers").

Obviously, not necessarily faster and- if retail location- you might have to wait until the store opens the next day. On the other hand, maybe the retail location and/or access point is served long before your home address... and thus you get it FASTER than home delivery. What if it is the FIRST stop of the day to drop off all of the store/locker stuff?

I feel you. It's really bad when you have to wait the whole day for the courier. If you have an AppleStore near, then it's always better to just buy with AppleStore pick up. If of course you don't have the option, then you are stuck. Apple also doesn't allow for others to receive the package. You have to sign the delivery..

I had to do this with my iPhone 13 Pro delivery. Requested UPS deliver it to a local CVS pharmacy that was on their list of drop off sites. Ony downside is, they charged me about $5 for it. (I think it's free with a monthly "Worldship" subscription/membership ... but I hardly use UPS enough to justify that.)

I checked out the 14 and 16 on my way to picking up AirPods 3

the 16" is HEAVY

the 14" is a bit heavier than I'd like too but not too bad. The thickness feels nice/almost too thick but not, I like the rounded retro sides its more comfortable vs. sharpness against ones wrist/hand,

The screen seemed nice contrast wise but both sizes they seemed a bit dim turned up all the way.

Didnt check if auto brightness was on or not though, only played with them for 2 min.

The keyboard feels a bit different and tighter than 13 M1 Air and Pro's and the recent 'new keyboards' on other Macs.

Software wise its silly they dont offer a perfect black dark menu just a dark mode transparent menu.

Have ot engage Full Screen to hide the notch, without 3rd party tweaks. eh.

But I dont mind the notch as much as I thought, the thinner bezels do look great
Yes I stopped and looked too the 16 looked huge and is super heavy. Beautiful yes - but would need to be on a desk most of the time.

I'm honestly baffled by people talking about the weight.

Do a lot of people carry their laptops around in their hands most of the time?

My laptops are usually on a desk/table or on my lap 99% of the time.

Really just missing the Touch Bar. Came in handy in lots of situations, plus can no longer see the line of emojis for texts... no predictive texts showing up.

Unsure how to make the keyboard brightness turn on or higher / lower.

Not too happy with the sides being cut on the bottom again. M1 design was nicer that way.

It feels like they re-did 2015 for no reason other than because they can.

Glad to have MagSafe back though.
To adjust keyboard brightness you can find the slider for that in the notification center, top right of the screen next to the clock, looks like a pair of dominoes stacked on top of each other. Replacing those physical keys with some nonsense I NEVER use (Dictation? Privacy? Really, Apple? Put THOSE in the notification menu) is my only real gripe with my M1 MBA.

As for the Touch Bar, yeah you're in the minority. Sorry about that but it was an idea that never went anywhere and it's better off left for dead at this point.

The moment I unpacked mine I was like omg it is just like my 2012 retina MacBook Pro 13 inch. Just in space grey instead of silver. It is pretty much the same size and weight. Of course the display is what stands out but yeah, it’s pretty much an updated 2012 MBP (not saying it’s a bad thing).

I do not really notice the ProMotion but I never noticed it on my iPad Pro either
It's like a time warp. Erasing the horror memories of 2016-2020 RIP.

So why buy a laptop instead of an iMac or a Mini, then? I travel 40% of the year for work, and my MBA is with me anywhere I go. Even when it's not in my hands it is in my bag on my shoulder, and after crossing major airports, traversing hotels, walking down streets etc for 140+ days out of the year ever. ounce. counts.
Generally people who buy portable equipment like a laptop do so because they NEED them to be portable, and in that regard the smaller and lighter something can be, the better.
So when you're looking at comments that mention the size and weight of these new models, understand your reaction is in the minority.
