First International iPad 2 Online Sales Begin With 2-3 Week Shipping Estimates

Eh, not really. Last year us UK folks got the iPad almost two months after the US launch. Heck, even if you pre-ordered when they came available on the 10th of May you didn't get it until the 28th which would be right in the 2 - 3 week delivery period.

Fact is if that 2-3 weeks holds up we can get our iPad's faster in real terms than we could last year with the added bonus of limited availability at retail stores in the meantime. No big deal. Not that that will stop the complaints I'm sure...:rolleyes:
 
Does anyone know the what the situation will be in Austria? I don´t feel like traveling there from Bratislava 2moro just to find out that there are no more for sale. I read somewhere that most are pre-ordered as of now.... :(
 
Am i the only one hating the fact that i can see the iPad page on the UK store but still no buy? whats with the teasing Apple?!

Anyone called their sales team yet and tried to order?

Want to avoid the queues in the UK?

Simply grow a moustache, wait until 5pm, then barge to the front, speaking German.
 
We are wanting to get one for my Mom for Mother's Day and will probably order the thing now just to be sure. One can only imagine it'll be easier to walk into a store and pick one up in the upcoming weeks, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
 
18th of April before my Ipad 2 Accessories even arrive.. Whats the point of releasing it in the UK when you are not even going to be able to get it until nearly 4 weeks!

Was just in the Regent st store to ask about carrier unlocks. There were already about 5-6 people on chairs out front. Signs saying the store will be closed from 3-5pm to allow for iPad2 to be stocked ?!

Sales guy in the iPad section said that they may have a buying option on the web later today.

I'm in the same boat. Ordered around the same time (after I laughed at the mile-long line in the basement of the mall), ship date april 1, delivery by the 6th. I really think the number of different models (18!) has to be causing some problems.

Apple really making genius moves with the pricing. Was not really considering getting one but £399 for some reason tips me over that "meh..why not" edge and makes my mind up
 
I suspect that part manufactures in Japan must have been pumping out parts way ahead of the iPad 2 launch (knowing massive quantities will be needed), so maybe there is just a lot of inventory. I don't think Apple would go ahead with international sales if it didn't think it could fulfill a ton of orders.

Do they have chinese scalpers in Australia? I waited 10hrs in line on launch day, was 3rd in line so I didn't have to deal with these shortages,ridiculous ship times and those even more ridiculously over priced scalped iPads.
 
Even longer queues

If the 2-3 week shipping estimate holds true with all 25 countries, then the queues are going to be even longer tomorrow. As I am sure that there would have been many people that would have ordered online at 1am and not minded waiting 3-4 days, but 2-3 weeks may mean that they ditch the order and join the masses in the queues tomorrow.
 
I wasn't sure if they had separate inventories for different countries, so I guess that's nice and interesting to know, and I'm glad it was in the story.

And speaking of shipping slightly earlier than the estimated ship time, I ordered mine about 4 or 5 hours after the online U.S. launch when the estimated ship date was already 2-3 weeks, and mine just shipped this afternoon--slightly short of two weeks. So like the story says, hopefully at least a few others will be so lucky. :)
 
Learn from the US... order on-line as soon as you can. The iPad2 is tough to get, so you might as well get in the virtual line as soon as possible.
 
people aren't as nuts and don't even bother or r to impatient to stand in line in my area. like i left the store with my iPhone 3GS and 4 both the day they got released within 5 minutes without having previously preordered. i hope i'm just as lucky with the iPad 2 tmrw :D
