So what are the best replacement earphones (under $100) for the iPhone? Any suggestions?

I would highly recommed the V-Moda Vibe Duo Neros w/the mic & control button. They're black & chrome and match the black Iphone perfectly. Awesome sound and bass. Also have an angled jack for when it's in you're pocket. There are a few sellers on Ebay that sell them new without the box in the $60ish range.

+1, i use the v-moda vibe duo's its great

I think overall, the iPhone G3 S pwns.

because 3G S has voice command and Pre doesn't?

When the first iPhone wqas released, Apple (Steve) said the hardware would have minimal upgrades but the software would see many upgrades. He said the hardware was effectively fixed.

Three years from now I say that might change.

Jerry

He never said the hardware would not change. He said it would be an evolving platform and people would be able to upgrade the software just like a computer.

I think the total cost is booty. My total cost for my current iPhone is less than $2,000 for 24 months. I don't really know anyone that has unlimited voice, you don't need it with unlimited mobile to mobile with every plan.

That chart only proves that we're being overcharged and ripped off by AT&T. $129.99 a month with no MMS or Tethering. BS.

What the chart doesn't talk about is the software. Which sets the two phones apart by miles.

IMHO, there was NEVER a need for a protective cover on the display. Had mine for 2 years and the screen looks as good as day one. Takes allot to scratch glass....

But many of the screen covers greatly reduce the need to wipe the screen off due to fingerprints... We'll see if the oleophobic coating negates this need as well.

All this, excluding processor should be available for 3G owners. It's all software.

Apple seems to be playing games, and I no longer enjoy playing Apple's game.

It's not a game for people to be payed for their work.

If you're an iPhone user, you've been getting a lot of free software updates from Apple. They could've charged for it. You're still getting a lot of 3.0 features for absolutely free, and I think you should be happy with what you have, instead of bitching about what you feel entitled to.

They could also charge you $300+ for a 64-bit version of their OS.

What a load of grade-A crap.

Apple pushes out software updates because we pay for them it. People pay a premium for a premium experience. Apple needs to supply that premium to get the high price. Simple enough?

Oh and it is a game. What you and many other of these so called "Dev Capitalists" fail to realize is that the computer industry came about because people wanted to make something better. It wasn't about money. It was about providing people with an experience. Something to change their life, for the better. Milking money was something to be fought against tooth and nail.

Remember down with the IBM suits? Well we now we have Apple Turtlenecks.

Note to mods: if you feel this language is too harsh, feel free to delete it. I just wanted to say my peace.

My WHITE 32GB only 8 days away!

Speaking of colors & covers... what does everyone think of the white.... & more importantly..... Invisi-shield? Supposed to be scratch proof & un-noticable? Anyone have one? Comments?

Sounds good, but I don't know if this is enough to get me to upgrade from 3G.

i remember reading how people were a tad unhappy with the lack of voice calling in the early days. Now that voice control is here, I don't hear a lot of praises. Someone point me to the right forum where all the rejoices are?

I also remember the complaints after the 3G came out. Biggest amongst them were no copy/paste, no MMS, no turn by turn software, no voice controls, no 32GB version, no video.

Now they are ALL there! I think the iphone is becoming close to perfect. The main reason I think they didn't change the case design is it was already perfect! There was no need to change it, especially not to that ugly matte finish.

So I'm rejoicing and think the iphone now has hardly any faults. I will sing its praise!

What premium are we paying for, for free iPhone updates?

When you buy a phone or ipod or computer, you are also paying for the software. A part of that software is updates. It is expected that it will be updated to include bug fixes and some new features.

Take this as an example.

I bought a MBP last year. (Exactly 1 year tomorrow.) It got one with multi-touch. I fully expected that Apple would take advantage of that tech by innovating it. (4 fingers side/down/up.) Of course they did, just not for my model. This had nothing to do with a hardware ability, but a software limitation. Apple could have pushed the update to allow this, but they didn't. I then hacked it to run a new MacBook Air's trackpad software.

This was something I shouldn't have had to do. I paid an expensive premium for the hardware thinking that they would allow me to take advantage of further innovation.

Smart-aleck. :p No, I meant that some functionality/applications can continue performing in the background while other applications run which is, limited or not, multitasking.

Are both apps open simultaneously? No.

It's background processing - limited to Apple apps.

piece. the improper use of homonyms detracts from the rest of the drivel. seriously.

Piece? Uh, no.

That word doesn't make sense in that context. The nelson guy was using 'peace' in the same context as when in a wedding they say "speak now or forever hold your peace."

Its ridiculous how there isnt a SINGLE physical differentiating feature on the 3GS as opposed to the 3G. Imagine how annoying it will be buying them second hand, etc, if you cant even tell the difference from the outside. How can you be sure its a 3GS, as opposed to a regular 3G? It would be so easy to get screwed. Even just branding it from the back would have been enough, so one could identify it from the outside.

I imagine all the 3GS exclusive software can be installed on the regular 3G phones in the future with some hacks, so that wouldnt be confirmation enough.

Dang, but really!

Does anyone out there have anything to say Good/Bad about the Invisi-shield? There has to be one!

P.S. the only thing they could have changed that was rumored to be was the Apple logo on the back being illuminated. & Maybe distinguishing the elite 32GB from the other phones...
