That's a lot of photos taken at 1:37 ...

Nothing much new to be seen really. Good upgrade for iPhone 1 users, 3G users are better off waiting until next year to get the iPhone 4GS or whatever they call it - in my opinion. That could be a 4x performance increase which you will really notice.

Why doesn't it say iPhone S on the back or something, How are people going to know that I have a superior iPhone to them!!!

it's so... clean.. pristine... only now do i realize how dirty and scratched my iphone is. oh, the additional features are nice, too...

I think overall, the iPhone G3 S pwns.

It is not simply software....there is no way. Apple believes strongly in selling quality products...with no compromises. This is mainly noticed in the Mac-PC debate. Even if it ran on the 3G just a little slower...apple wouldnt do it....they want it to be perfect. I think thats just fine. I wouldnt want to say "play Angels on the moon" and have it call my ex-girlfriend....lol. Video may be software too....but on a 3G a 2 megapixel camera wont shoot quality video.

I can do better :p. It's really nothing special though.

Translation
"After looking at the iPhone 3G vs. iPhone 3G S, I'm pretty convinced that everyone is really eager to know the details of the 3G S. This is the first time the iPhone 3G S has ever been tested and written about.

The biggest difference between the 3G S and the previous version is that other than the appearance, the startup speed is considerably faster, otherwise, there are no other obvious differences."

Obviously the guy hasn't loaded any CPU intensive apps on the phone yet then.

This has to be true. Why get an iPhone and not use it to its fullest...if you had you would notice some performance issues...like real racing or star defense. Those games will run amazingly on the 3G S.

beautiful, but too bad no front-facing camera

I would have loved if the front-facing camera was in this one.
And even without that, some physical external feature to distinguish it. Then again, seeing as I have an iPhone 3G aside from the 32GB of space which I would love to have, I probably won't be getting the 3GS anytime soon so it'll make me feel less bad that I don't have the 3GS.

Also, rant: I will be sorely pissed off when I'll ask people if they have a 3G or a 3GS and they won't know. Some iPhone owners out there don't even know the difference between the original and the 3G. And they think the original is the newest one out there. grrrr

Yeah, what a bunch of jerks. How dare they?

Um,
Yeah.

Black or White? (Cracks?)

the back doesn't really look as "slippery" as the 3G.

Any feedback on which color you guys are ordering? As a 2G user, I've always been enamored with the white one even though now it is old news. but I assume the white will still be prone to cracks.

Also: do you think the regular 3G cases will fit? I'm thinking the white or blue Griffin Wave case would look pretty sharp with the white. LOVED my blue wave on the 2G--it covered the annoying (to me) chrome front edges.

That's inaccurate. The iPhone does multitask, but it's limited. I'm pretty damn sure I can listen to my music while checking email or Twittering or browsing the web. That's multitasking as far as I'm concerned.

Also, the Palm is not $199. I thought that was the result of a mail-in rebate.

^^^^^ Listening to music is a task? :D

Yes they will. The 3GS is exactly the same (in terms of size) as the 3G.

and come on apple only putting video recording on the new iphone. every knows the 3g hardware can handle it fine.
Not everybody is aware of what jailbreaking offers. People I know don't even know how to convert MP3s into ringtones for iPhone.
It's possible with the better camera on the 3GS that it offers a much better video experience. Either way, it's Apple's prerogative to decide whether they add features to each generation of phone.
You can e-mail Apple to complain about their decision, if you want.

Smart-aleck. :p No, I meant that some functionality/applications can continue performing in the background while other applications run which is, limited or not, multitasking.

White 3GS Cracks Again?

Asking current white 3G owners for advice: Do you think it would be more prone to the cracks IN a case or OUT of a case? My gently used Macbook has these cracks on the bottom edges and near the ports--where as my always naked white Nintendo DS that has been beat to hell (and feels like a macbook) never developed these

Are a lot people going to carry around their 3GS bareback?

To me, it doesn't make a difference if I'm going to use a case and front screen skin protection anyway.

Definately agree with you on the case. Not so much on the screen skin.

I have had two different iphones and used them since they first launch day and never have I had a reason to need a screen skin. The screen on the first two generations have been awesome...and I can only imagine a screen skin would make it worse.

no one has asked this question...

i wonder if it's heavier or lighter than the IIIg

I think I saw somewhere that the Apple listed specs have the new phone being like .7 of an ounce heavier than the 3G phone.

Finally, the home screen icons are full. Do you think Apple had it planned out this way all along?

Ohh that too much! That extra ounce is really going to break my wrist/back...

Actually, it's 1/10 of an ounce, but still WAY too heavy. [/sarcasm]

If that's too much for you, you guys are ******* (and not the good kind). Hey, I can do dips with a 45 pound barbell weight roped to my waist so a 1/10 of an ounce is nothing.
