Good day everyone!

It's Sunday June 20, Day 4 for me camping for the new iPhone 4.

Since yesterday evenings post I finally had the opportunity to use my phone and look at some websites that have wrote articles about me. The comments made by the majority on all of those articles are very heartbreaking and I'v been a extreme disappointed and hurt.

It's amazing how so many people in today's world jump to their own conclusions and speak before they think without knowing the person and/or having all their facts straight. Apparently there are more people out there to hurt to you then I thought.

The top few things I have noticed are the following:

1. Most do not have the respect for those who are disabled regardless of their condition.

In my case. I'm disabled because of my seizure disorder which prevents me from driving and scoring most jobs. This makes life EXTREMELY difficult for me or anyone with the same condition.

Some have asked about how bad my condition is so I would go ahead and tell everyone how bad it is for me sometimes so more will understand and have a little more compassion.

The seizures I have had since young age are non-epileptic and are unknown why I have them. My arms, legs or other part of my body twitch everyday and I have to remain alert as much as possible in case a major one happens. If its major, they are full body and look like grand mal (Tonic Clonic) seizures. They are always longer then 10 minutes and very severe. Some I have had in the past have been 2 hours long. What's more, there isn't really anything you can do, even if I end up in the ER.

In addition to the seziures. I also have 4 other learning disabilities including ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, and Dysgraphia.

2. Some say I should "Get a Life!".

I did write a response to this earlier, but I'm going to say it again.

What I am doing right now is enjoying and embracing life! What life is it you want me to have?

Let me guess? You want my life to be just like everyone else who goes to work (nothing wrong with a job) and/or attend school and then go off to live the "American Dream"?

I understand this might what everyone does everyday, but this crazy world has seemed to forgotten what life is really about! Life is about enjoying and living it to the fullest without having someone else running it for you! Whats so great about life if you spend it doing what others want you to do and not doing what makes you happy for your own enjoyment? Is that what you really want when you only get one chance of living it and not knowing when it will end? I didn't think so!

3. Work and Money

Okay so most of the first media reports you have heard me say I don't work. This is not entirely true, but I don't have a job I do everyday.

I do have my own business I do from home every now and then, but its struggling at the point.

Some have asked what my business is. I prefer not to reveal this right now since in I'm process of restructuring and renewing the business at the point.

There are also others who have just ASSUMED since I am disabled that I am not disability SSI benefits. I have not once revealed or said anything about that I do. Not everyone with disabilities qualified or receive benefits!

I have said many times that I am paying out of my own earned money that will be coming out of savings!

Besides all of this, it's really actually not anyone's business when it comes to these things! If you asked someone random theses question on the street. They will come back and slap you in the face and tell you it's none of a your damn business and its rude to ask in the first place!

Sorry I haven;t gone into details and been off topic about the launch in this posting, but I figured these issues are more important to be addressed.

If you want to keep track of the camping adventure of mine and hear about the latest, you can check out this site me and another user on here have been working on. The website just went live last night! www.iPhoneFirstInLine.com

Hope everyone has a Sunday Funday and Happy Father's Day!

This world is filled with crappy people. With people still upset about healthcare reform if they even hear the word disabled they get heated. Just look at the bright side, you have a lot of people on your side willing to help you and offer friendship, not many people in this world can say that.

The people that post about tax dollars and stuff are not even worth the amount of bandwidth used for their post.

You have set a goal, now go complete it! Good luck to you.

It's comments like yours which get threads off on tangents. Connecting ignorant comments about the disabled to healthcare 'reform'. Good grief.

I think most people are all about living life to the fullest....but is camping out for a week for a phone really the definition of living life to its fullest?

Personally, I think you are doing it for the attention, I mean seriously....if camping for this phone is living life to the fullest, why not start when it was announced that preorders would be available on the 15th and start then? Why not start 2 months ago when the prototype was found.

Most people dont have the ability albeit, brains, money, skill, etc to start their own business. Props to you for doing that, but if your business was that important to you and its struggling as you say it is, wouldnt it be a more valuable to your business to use this time to work on it, rather then camping out for a week for a phone and starting a website about it? Once again, just my two cents here.

I would assume you knew that most people weren't going to start lining up till Wed afternoon/evening at the earliest, yet you chose thur/fri (whichever day). I think thats why people said "get a life, etc etc".

Anyways, good luck on the mission, hopefully its succesful for you!

Justin,

Sorry to hear that you are feeling hurt. Does it help to split people into two types - those you know you, and those you don't?

It seems to me that those who know you seem to really like you. The folks at the Apple Store have been supporting you from the start. (And everyone knows that Apple have never gone in for cheap publicity stunts - they have your back because of who you are and not the PR). Everyone from this forum that has come down to hang out with you seems to really like you. People from you have met over the years are happy to talk to you. And so on, and so on..

On the other hand, people who don't know you have a more mixed reaction. I think that this says more about people's understanding of, and attitude towards people with disabilities than it says about you. I guess that you didn't take on this experience to learn about this - but it is a powerful learning experience if you are able to separate it from you and not be hurt by it.

But I think that the biggest thing is that times are tough at the moment, and people are hurting, and it seems that there is maybe not enough love to go around. But there are people like me, who you are bringing a smile to the face of, and we are the people that you need to remember.

Carry on having fun.

I'm just going on my own personal experience here. I read some of these comments about handouts and taxpayer money and was pretty upset. I had a few tea baggers last september confront me about my iPhone. Telling everyone around to look at their tax dollars at work. They see a wheelchair, an iPhone and that's all they needed to belittle me in front of hundreds of people.

The mood in this nation has changed towards the disabled since HCR, I see it everyday. I have more examples of this type of treatment as well, would you like to hear about my trip to cedar point last week? Nah I've said enough.

People who claimed to be members of the Tea Party and anyone can say anything on the Internet.

September 12th 2009 "Better in Mentor" fair, all had Glen Beck shirts and copies of the constitution they were handing out, not to mention the big bus with glen becks face on it. I mean really they were nothing special, just some white trash recruited by people with money.

Justin, the number one reason people want to tear you down is because they don't want you to succeed. You have to ignore those people and use tunnel vision to focus on achieving your goal. People hate to see others happy when they are in fact miserable. It's a fact. Don't let their failures and hate be your own. Life is hard enough on it's own, even harder when you try to get everyone to like you. Cherish the people here that do support you and let the others rot in their own fate. Thanks for your post, but always remember, you don't owe anyone anything, let alone an explanation.

100% agree, nice post.

100% agree, nice post.

Yeah sadly I had to learn this lesson the hard way. Used to get my feelings hurt too much trying to figure out why a handful of people didn't like me. Just a waste of time. Not everyone is going to like you all of the time. Some people are incapable of liking you because they don't like themselves.

I even had to distance myself from my own dirtbag parents. That's life, get the negative people out of it and keep them there. They will ruin you because they feel ruined.

About the disability etc. If you are on unemployment, disability etc, you had to jump through hoops to get it. They don't just give this to anyone. I had to wait a month and a half to get my unemployment benefits waiting on them to research how I lost my job etc. Guess what people, I will spend my damn unemployment where and how I want to cause I qualified for it. Might go buy me a treat today with it since it's fathers day. You want to bitch about it? Give me your job and switch places with me. I will in a heart beat!

You don't have to explain yourself to these bastards! Just ignore their posts and focus on the positive!

Hope your having fun.
Cheers.

life is not fair. i had to learn that and in the real world there are people who care and dont care. w.e or not i think a week is crazy for a phone yes but if in your eyes its fun then go for it. dont listen to what people say. personally im going to camp but just overnight to make sure i get one and people call me crazy for doing that lol

hahahaha you have your own security guard? That's awesome!

I still think it's wicked cool what your doing, it's def. something you won't ever forget!

Is the security guard nice?

Glad to see your still at it Justin! Sorry you are hurt by the few. Fact is there are a lot of jerks out there who like to see themselves think on these forums and for some reason feel they are smarter than everyone else. I would suspect that most of the trolls on here are CHILDREN from the age of 15-50 who have not learned yet how to show a little respect and love to stir up emotions from a distance with no accountability. Keep your head up, not everyone wants you to be miserable and fail! Fact is.....there are a lot who think its awesome that you can live your life the way YOU want to!

I'm going to be in line three hours before opening and on the night of July 24th we will both have new iPhones. I do not see the point of camping this far ahead.

How do you know that when you get there 3 hours before opening, there won't already be 200 people in line? That's what I'm worried about. I 'preordered' one through Best Buy but I don't think that's going to mean anything on launch day. I had no idea there would be such a level of interest & also a production shortage. And while I respect your choice to stand in line for 3 hours before opening (and who knows how long after that to actually get in) I personally don't want to stand in line at all. My point being that just as you think this guy's choice to camp out a week ahead of time is strange, others think standing in line at all is strange when you can order one & get it in a month. We all have our own priorities. His chance of getting a phone on launch day -- 100%. Your chance -- not 100% (probably still greater than 75%). My chance -- probably 0%. That's probably why we decide the way we do. Our desire to have the phone on launch day versus the effort required to achieve that. And I think all of us are happy with our own choices & the results they net.

Anybody else think Justin sounds exactly like

Try to filter the negative remarks you are getting and focus on the fun you are having. I wouldn't be able to do what you are doing due to my real life responsibilities but it is fun reading about your journey since you are able to. Hang in there, just a few more days left!

Justin,

It's good that you can smile back into the faces of those who question you and put you down. If people listened to those jerks their whole lives they would never get anywhere and wouldn't even have ever "lived." It's good to see the independent spirit is not dead!
