Staying up till 12am is too hard but camping for 5 days is no big deal? WTF... these people make Apple users look like idiots. :(

The finish line is not a goal, but a journey.

The people standing in line do not do so just to get an iPhone, but rather to experience the hours/days in line with other people with the same interests. Friendships are made and grown.

Some of my best experiences in life are waiting in line for concert tickets (back in the 80s and 90s - it's not the same thing today with online ticketmaster).

Why do you go to NYC to see the ball drop on New Year's Eve? You need to get there by noon, and stand outside for 12 hours just to see 30 seconds of a ball dropping? You can watch it on TV being warmer and with a better view.

Why do people do it? Because it's the experience of all 12 hours with the people around you that make it something that you should do at least once in your life.

The 99% is truly hurting. I mean they have the time to sit there for days and buy a $800 phone.

"No jobs. No responsibilities. But we got the iPhone though!"

Maybe they are all on welfare (Obama $$) or disability income and do not have to go to work like the rest of us hardworking folk do. 50% of the US population is getting some sort of government benefit. Maybe we the taxpayers are buying their iPhones?

Or maybe these people are not living paycheck-to-paycheck minimum wage jobs, but can afford to take off a day to stand in line.

Why do you immediately assume someone is on welfare when they're not in an office M-F 9-5?

Yeah these people are stupid. No other way around it. Apple should honestly just tell them to go home and give them a ticket or something.

This is even DUMBER than those people standing in line to buy sneakers. At least in those cases, the sneakers are limited and you HAVE to wait in line or you'll never get them. With this, it's not even limited.

How idiotic are these people?

Why Does Apple Allow this to happen?

Why doesn't Apple just charge more for the phone at the initial release? It is obvious that people are making a ton of money reselling these phones to people in China and other places that Apple won't be offering the phone initially.

Apple could announce the dates that the price drops would occur on ahead time and people decide if it worth X dollars for get the phone Y weeks sooner. Apple could donate the extra money to a charity so they don't come across as being greedy and no one is wasting time in line.

I guess when someone dies in line waiting to get a phone they will decide to do something different.

I searched with my phone number by Reference... Looks like mine is set to arrive on Thursday!! :D :D I'm in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

I agree, I walked into Verizon a couple hours before the store closed to buy my mom and dad an iPhone 4S with no problem the day that phone released

with this phone I'll have to get to the store *GASP* earlier in the day to get one. I'm a huge apple fanboy, but I also have a life worth living to not camp for a phone

My order has left Hong Kong!

I ordered my 32GB White AT&T Model from Apple.com at 2:15am Central Time on Friday. Apple's website still says "Preparing for Shipment" but I did the trick on UPS's website and used my phone number as a reference and it popped right up. I doubt mine will be delivered early since I live in Fargo, ND so it has to go through a few hubs on the way. I signed up for text notifications and it says In transit to Louisville, KY (Worldport) but I am always used to it going to Anchorage, AK first. I guess we will see what happens. I would imagine mine will go to Anchorage > Louisville > Minneapolis > Fargo.

...if you have never gone and waited in line for a few hours I would recommend doing it at least once just for the experience.

Waited in line for 2 hours several years ago for the PS3. Never doing that **** again. Ever.

And that wasn't as bad as it could have been because I was waiting in line with some gaming nerds, fathers with their screaming kids, stoners and people trying to make a quick buck with their tents out and stereos blasting.

Doing that for a whole day... no thank you. I rather pay 2x the price. Now factor in that you will be waiting in line with hipsters and self proclaimed artists... Yea, definitely not worth it. I'll try something more amusing, like watching paint dry.

because Apple still has some class. At least i'm hoping they still do. one of the most appealing things about Apple is their uniformity. If they lose that, than they wont have much left to ride on. It will forever stain their reputation.

I live in Honolulu, Hawaii and my stuff usually goes to Los Angeles before coming to Hawaii. Go figure.

Congrats on the white iPhone 5! I played it safe and went black. I wussed out.

And near me there is a guy that was shot with a SHOTGUN during the PS3 release while they waited in line for a week.
And the rest of the people robbed of their money.
Sounds like a blast!

Yes, of course you do. Waiting in line for an iphone is a spiritual pilgramage. It's an experience you'll never forget for the rest of your life. ;)

Thanks. I have always had white since my 3GS. I have had every iPhone. My iPhone 4 got delivered one day before release day in 2010. So hoping but I doubt it will happen.

Mine has arrived in Anchorage, AK at 3pm. YAY!

Yours is .40 kg and mine is 0.90kg

Here it comes!

Anyone recognize that title? Anywho, mine has just departed Anchorage, AK as of 2:28pm EST. The expected delivery date according to UPS is the 19th. This happened to me with the iPhone 4 in which my phone was delivered 1 day earlier. Sad to say goodbye iP4, happy to say hi iP5.

Don't worry, you'll be using your ip4 until Friday like the rest of us.

What the hell does Obama have to do with it? There were people on welfare before he took office and there will be people on welfare after he finishes his second term in 2016. They're just part of the 47% that Romney's not interested in.

I did my tracking on my computer and it shows that it found two packages with that tracking # both in ZhengZhou, China. Does that mean I will possibly get two iPhones?? They charged my account for just 1 upgraded iphone 5 32gb. Anyone else seeing that?

Yes, I get 2 packages but they have the same tracking number. Also, my Apple store account still says "preparing for shipment"......hasn't been updated (even though I just checked and my package is in Alaska)....

Jesus phone strikes again

Sorry Sammy, your next big thing is not that big after all.

Lines like these are real and all over. People just want to be the first one to get it. That simple.

if you take stroll at your local AT&T, sprint, or Verizon store. Campers will be there, notice most of them are young kids or old seniors. They can camp because they do not work. I wonder how many kids will play hookie from school to wait in line for their working famiily members.
