Staying up till 12am is too hard but camping for 5 days is no big deal? WTF... these people make Apple users look like idiots.![]()
The finish line is not a goal, but a journey.
The people standing in line do not do so just to get an iPhone, but rather to experience the hours/days in line with other people with the same interests. Friendships are made and grown.
Some of my best experiences in life are waiting in line for concert tickets (back in the 80s and 90s - it's not the same thing today with online ticketmaster).
Why do you go to NYC to see the ball drop on New Year's Eve? You need to get there by noon, and stand outside for 12 hours just to see 30 seconds of a ball dropping? You can watch it on TV being warmer and with a better view.
Why do people do it? Because it's the experience of all 12 hours with the people around you that make it something that you should do at least once in your life.
